For those who like simple stories about what is meant to have a family and care for those who are unknown to us, this movie shows just that trough both main leads. A kid who's mother died long time ago and have felt unwanted, don't want to associate himself with any more step mothers in his life until here comes the last stepmother, sharing more similarities than expected and ending in an unexpected way making this low build up carried a deep cut of melancholy to the end with a small shine of hope.
This movie had me laughing each scene when it wanted me to, and made me cry when it wanted me to. A story that resonates with all of those that where kid once. Such a beautiful and touching story about friendship and your well know coming of age story, with the most genuine portrayals sharing with the viewer that particular and special unique heartfelt emotions.
Incredible story with powerful performances and above all, a great message about how law supposed to be taken with respect, care and for the good of the people.
Movies that tend to utilize sound design, by enforcing the plot trough the build up of what comes next, as cohesive it can feel merging both experience in one so it can emphasize urgency trough each moment are so rare to find. This movie surely felt that was carefully planned out to enrich that part of the experience, how the sound edit was handled was phenomenal, more so when you have earplugs, headphones put on or a good sound system. The movie does not waste time exposing us to what is going on and the dilemma that surrounds the main lead, in rapid fire edits that often times felt a bit much but understandably so giving the mission this movie has trough the plot is various, sense of despair and anxiety come to mind. The build up was compelling enough to maintain my focus throughout the movie while the ending was the surprised. Great movie and great acting.
One of the most delicate and full of warmth love story that felt as personal and secluded as movies with love stories like this can be. Reminding me so much on how "A Moment to Remember" tackled the same plot with a different premise that felt as equally delicate and personal as this move was. Absolutely beautiful.
A simple, funny and heartwarming developing plot in regards a man and the gift of being an everyday hero to others around. This movie is a slice of life.
A true touching hard story that shows the endurance of a family tragedy that fallows the imprisonment and the consequences of this mother and wife. Even though movies like this, alter things to be more "applicable" for a film and dramatic themes, it was quite the altered ending knowing that she really did her time and then came back to her home town. It is shocking how sometimes the ones that supposed to be for the people often times are the least capable to represent the people when political times like these happen to them.
When films give a sense of "calm before the storm" trough the eyes and perspective of your every day lead character with a rudimental life, job and a dilemma that will ensued afterwards as the development exposes circumstances through out a top notch entertainment and unforgettable experience. This is when films like this, gave impressive first impressions, with a smooth beginning until the start of that first call with an outstanding sound mixing. While continuously familiarizing your feelings with the lead character accompanied with a music sound mixed design developed as an statement of the struggle of what is to come between protagonist and antagonist. Outstanding film no doubt about it.
This film was always giving me enjoyment trough all the circumstances the main and entitled lead find himself with what end up being a great painful surprise for him and a delightful fun for us the viewers. When his life turned out to be distressful but for the better throughout a great comedy and emotional drama.
This film takes a well know genre and delivers the plot of “what if where real” in a believable realistic scenario, far from what has been know in other films that plays the thrilling fiction about time, past and present. That is one of the things holds the movie by being continuously engrossing with a cast that showcase truthful reactions of the every day person in this thrilling action fictional film.

“Real gangsters like us hear people call us trash.” “And those who can’t act at all hear people call them real actors.” “Regular guys are the main characters of this world”.
I dint expect this movie to have this kind of philosophy like this, when you see the real meaning portrayed with these dialogs representing what the whole movie is meant to show and tell becoming more apparent at the end of its final scene. Felling that it has more to tell when you study each character. A gangster that sees his life become a joke, while trying to play an actor, but understanding at the end that his life is what it is. While an actor changes and matures understanding the truth, become a real man, not which is more important than being and looking like a real actor, taking responsibilities of his actions knowing what is real and what is worth in life and more so by the end. This film did give that to us, with a plot that felt more of a social criticism to that already well known inside world issue of actors and actress and regular people trying to be what they are not when hiding behind something is not even apparent for each respect person.
What a subtle ensuing plot with a dramatic impactful development with these characters and the life of this simple gangster involving the causes of what will happen as it did in the way it all concluded. The fact that the movie is two hours of run, by having too much room to expose and develop each character, was understood when the movie finalized each characters journey.
Beautiful, sweet and heartwarming story with a very touching plot that will culminate in an ending that melts the human heart.
This movie has a puzzle structural plot development surrounding a homicide case, with a screenwriting technic not often use in movies with same subject matter, giving it a special viewing experience. Due to how the camera works and tells the story of a plot that gives you a sense of urgency and in a serious reality. The movie sure was a spectacle to watch due to how the story progressed and was filmed and kept his phase well balanced and to the point continuesly giving this movie is two hours of run.
A movie that took us trough a melancholy journey of imaginations and desires from a relashionship of these two characters but one never understood how to be open and let love change, culminating in a deep regret and hearts broken. Interesting way this movie handled the reveals it offered and more so accompanied by a gorgeous delicate cinematography as the story itself.
When people find themselves in circumstances that unfortunately change their state of their life, often is hard, and most of the time we forget that we still have the help from those around us if we don’t close ourselves to those around us. Or if the reach for help comes to us. Beautiful movie that reflects the hard truth of those that do relate.
What a sad story with events that rippled an effect that marked the present of these two wife’s miserable and painful current statuses. With a slow-moving plot unraveling the events as dialogs are being exposed to us the viewers to understand the situation as its being presented. Letting us know more and more that each wife has more in common than what it seems, just because how familiarized the situation is in this unfamiliar moment in their lifes. Honestly great movie, with great acting by both actresses.
Such a delicate and beautiful sad film. Interpreting the tales of Mao Zedong era trough the eyes of this family and what those decades brought to its citizens. Very touching.
Simple plot but yet so beautiful and moving story revealing a man with a hard life and attitude of stone due to the life he chooses to live by the work he does and so, he cross paths with whom becomes the love of his life that change his perspective with what both shared. Lovely movie.
What a beautiful film with a great story about sacrifices and turn of events in life that one’s have to overcome in order to become our own champions. Fascinating and emotional all throughout.
Phenomenal film with a unique cinematography atmospheric psychological thrill, focusing on the consequences of PTSD in the minds of those who suffered from impactful stressed events. Here is when the movie goes with that theme and expresses it with a compelling story using scenarios of the many symptoms this particular character is going through as she is being exposed by her own trauma that led her behaving in such manner. The overall great structural exposition with different collage scenes, where well puzzled together to convey that symptomatic behavior of her, which were the key to a great introduction to the characters and more so the finally we got, making it feel so inclusive and personal that all felt claustrophobic. Great film.
This film was fascinating for many reasons.
The movie has a fallow up history that surround itself into a true political struggle incorporate into the main plot has a secondary sub plot know in the dialog and some scenes of the character in 1979 (the past) from the female lead. Which did happen and a bit earlier since 1960s and the corruption of politic powers that want it to be maintain. If you do a research about the May 18 and the “Democracy Uprising” of the early decades since 1960s all up until where the movie sets itself in 1979. Then you’ll have a based understanding as to what they speak about and some scenes of what they referred about. (watch “The President’s Last Bang”-2005 for more reference of these particular decade).
In the meantime, the movie keeps the historical true political plot interwoven with the main one, but not overshadow it, since the movie goes through the main female lead motions and feelings of what is the future and the wonders of a world she doesn’t know while growing up and maturing in her world while finding out not only the history she lives in but her plot with this secondary male lead. Here is where the plot expands itself between these two and how the connections from the past changed the future for those who are known as “lost generation” and the sacrifices made for those in the future. Great outstanding movie, which felt like a love letter to the history of generations interpreted with these two characters stories.
Side note: Movies like... The President’s Last Bang, The Old Garden, The Attorney, A Taxi Driver, 1987 When the Day Comes. Are all movies that becomes a fallow up to these decades of subjugation and struggle with points of views from what many of the people that where there, saw and lived through.
This film felt like a project to showcase the actors and actress skills in conversational interaction practices. It does reminded me some what of "The Table" where these characters meet and talk about subjects which the take-away of that movie was how the actors and actresses perform the scenes and their body language and facial expressions is essential part and main focus.
Slow and methodical film with a simple plot. There was an actress in this movie which did call my attention again, actress that I dint knew was in it to be honest, which is Lee Joo Young. This is the second movie I see that she partakes with a complete overhaul of her persona. The other movie being "Believer" where she does a mute character whose performance was great.
What made the movie incredible with the usual plot with movies like this despite the familiarity of it, is how everything was moving along, how was handled. Creating a sense of urgency and reliability about the case and how the prosecutors work is done. Two hours of run time and by the trhity seven minutes in you are dropped into a well fast phase developing plot. The movie settles down, but doesn't loose its attraction to what comes next. Retaking the same phase in how each side goes about solving the truth behind this murder. The movie doesn't drag at all by being too engrossed in conversations nor prolonged character developments or unnecessary fillers. All the contrary, a simple case with a simple plot that develops extremely well, ending in the way it did making it a great watch.
This film checked all the right tones with well balanced topics interpreting social dilemmas and life altering decisions that ripples trough the most unfortunate events in one's life. And so the movie goes trough the life of this little girl unfortunately events that made her who she is and what lies ahead in her search for what the film exposes at the end. This movie is one of those few that has a really well written script structure. Outstanding performances from everybody on the film, trully. One of my favorites.
Nice movie, a simple movie with complexity about children's life and their struggles to understand friendship and the hardship of bullying. With a nice and wholesome understanding of life, and the lifestyle the kids grow in, to understand each other.
Beautiful movie, really beautiful and heartwarming. A simple story with not much dialog at the beginning setting the tone with simple scenes of this family that will melt your heart. Simple and a slow phase film, but with a great story to tell.
What an epic historical Korean marvel this movie is. Imagine this movie took a strong effort into research documentation by Kim Han Min (director) and Jun Chul Hong (writter) to stablish it together given how vast the story about this history depicts only events of the story just in the middle of the invation of Japan. Basically the movie sets in the middle of everything. Very impressive story and incredibl script put together. Can't wait for "Hansan"
This movie is well developed by having emotionally heartwarming plot with action sequences involving this manager of an attorneys office, which get himself into a situation regarding a case that became quite challenging for him to solve. This is another movie that surprised me very much. And happy to recommend for those who haven't watched it and are looking for a movie like this. When I read the synopsis, was more than enough to capture my attention. I figured it was going to be like any other case movie regarding what I read, but surprise to have found it quite enjoyable just because how it manage to maintain a variety of emotions whit a plot that is well know, but explore in the way the movie made it to feel.
This movie was quite the enjoyment. I haven't had this good laugh since I saw "Exit", "Extreme Job" and "Veteran". Is great having a good set of actors that compliment themself in a screen as good as these movies and like what I saw in this one. Also seeing Han Ye-Ri in a role like that was also quite the good laugh thrown around because how her acting as a hypocrite selfish self-interested person was quite good. I remember Kim Sung-Oh in a previous movie I watched called "Waiting for You" which was a suspense trhiller. Knowing him from that one role and now here in a comedy movie, doing a timid guy, was a good chuckle. Kan So-Ra as well which I only seen her in TV drama called "Misaeng: Incomplete life". Well, all in all great movie for the whole family with a great set of actors with good synergy.
