I won't watch anymore of this. I couldn't even make it through the first episode. I didn't really follow the plot, characters were annoying and exaggerated and of course, the oppai display is just silly. It felt totally unoriginal with everything I guess is the main gripe I have.
I’ve never watched One Piece or read the manga ‘cause, honestly, I don’t have the courage or time to start a 1000+ episode anime or read even more than that. I didn’t even know what the story was about other than them being pirates, so this live action is a good opportunity to enjoy the story without it being too overwhelming.
So far I really enjoyed it, it is funny and entertaining. It doesn’t seem to be cringe and weird like other live actions Netflix put out throughout the years, but I am curious to read other people’s opinions (especially the ones who have watched/read One Piece before) once I finish watching. Looking forward to watch more episodes :)
So now we know where terrible teen series wind up when they're not even mediocre enough for the CW Network: Freeform-TV, home of CW rejects. Ridiculous plot, low-budget effects and a cast in desperate need of training -- there's nothing good about "Beyond".
It's Community without the charm or talent.
Just watched the pilot and I gotta be honest, this is the best pilot of any serie I have ever watched. Can't wait for future episodes.
This show is like a slutty awful version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Compared to this the movie is an Oscar winner. i never had a tv show that made me feel so sick, it was cliche after cliche, super bad acting, bad effects, bad casting, bad characters, bad script, bad costumes. I was really looking forward for this show since i kinda enjoyed the movie and i liked the story of the books but this is just down awful.
SPECTACULAR!!! Spot on casting, authentic setting, faithful to the original book, wonderful acting, moving and joy filled drama. CBC on Sunday nights. I give it a 9 (superb) out of 10, only because I should probably see 2 episodes before granting it the 10 that I very much anticipate it will deserve. I feel as superlative as Anne. YAY!
I can safely say, this is One Piece! There are some things that aren't accurate, like the mood Zoro's actor is stuck in, but overall they recreated the manga in live action. It's a beautiful attempt at bringing all the fun, epicness, and ridiculousness of the series to life.
Unfortunately, they seem to have cut too much for that 8 episode "pacing" and it resulted in some scenes missing context, and Nami's arc being rushed. While not having enough screen time for Usopp, or Genzo, and doing nothing with Gin.
They nailed some moments, totally skipped others, and restructured the East Blue saga and future events in some pretty good and bad ways. Overall, the series is what we love about One Piece, done in a way that leaves you wanting more and better at the same time.
This series is so good that I can't express it. I have watched many Korean, Jap, English and American series that are not based on thriller, mystery and crime genre and can still be very much engaging and binge worthy, this is one of those shows.
I can easily recommend it to anyone without having second thoughts. Not being a mystery-thriller and still being able to grip us to the show is really something I appreciate about it.
Screenplay, Story, Plot are top notch.
If you're into Korean content it's a must watch.
One of the best dramas I've ever seen! You laugh and cry in the same episode.
I'm completely in love with the couple, the protagonists are brilliant and the king has the kindest eyes ever!
This is a gem. a very well paced comedy/crime/drama.
Loved the story so far and the actors that bring this characters alive are well chosen. Give this a chance and ignore the low votes given almost 6 months before the show aired.
Ok I'm gonna be honest here. One Piece live action is really really good and underappreciated. There are some problems but not everyone's gonna notice and it's not gonna bother most. But the thing that's actually gonna bother is its slow pacing which is not bad as it was needed for the World Building but pacing could have been better. It's a slow burn but worth a watch. I'm not gonna say it's the best live action adaptation of any anime but safety is one of the best live action adaptation. The cast is amazing, stets are really cool, VFX and CGI shots aren't bad or anything.
P.S. All the actors did an amazing job especially the one paying Luffy.
Yeah...... so I went from "wtf is this crap?" 10 minutes into episode 1, to absolutely loving the show by the end of the final episode. 8/10 from me. Never seen the anime original but will definitely check it out while I wait for season 2 of the live action.
10/10
As a person who doesn't really know anything about one piece manga series, if you watch this you'll definitely feel like you need to watch the anime one.
As someone that has only seen a few anime episodes here and there I'm absolutely loving this. It's just incredibly fun and impossible to watch without a smile on your face.
I hate that it has that weird 'Netflix look' to it but other than that really good.
I do not think i ever saw 7 episodes in such a short time! i do not bindge normally.
This show is FANTASTIC!
Level Heroes season 1
Captivating directed, excellent storytelling love the whole how we slowly reveal the story and connect the pieces, the music is awesome! like 80s stuff and it also has humor, like good humor.
and 20 episodes! wow!
This may be a minority opinion but I found this series badly written with a poorly constructed, underlying reality. The story unfolds in a format similar to 13 REASONS where each episode is one girl’s backstory. The plot is plodding. The “research project” is extremely unconvincing. The continuity is fractured. Basically, you not only have to suspend disbelief, but you also have to ignore any understanding of physical reality. I have no intention of watching them [spoiler] repeat this process with their male counterparts [\spoiler] in a second season. I began watching with a willingness to give it a chance but ended up regretting the wasted time. I give the series a 4 (poor) out of 10 [Young Adult Drama]
It’s enjoyable but I’m having hard time understanding where the show is going. 9 episodes in & just feels like the show is dragging. I’m like let’s get to the point already...who knows, maybe they’ll conclude something by end of season. I think most people will not find this show enjoyable.
One of my new favorite shows! It's such a breath of fresh air - funny, feel good, and original. The parents have such a warm friendship, the kids are adorable, and the plot lines are hilarious.
pilot was obnoxious and unfunny.
Wow. This show is just horrible.
The main character Liv Moore dies and comes back as a zombie. She changes her entire way of life and starts to work in a morgue where she can get all the brains she needs. Every time she eats a brain, she gets visions and abilities or properties from the deceased and with those she helps a detective solve cases where those original brain owners were involved in.
Pretty straightforward synopsis and if you can accept the "eat brain, get visions/abilities" premise of this show you're in for a great treat.
Most of all the writing is consistent. The plots aren't stupidity driven as they are on major network shows these days, nor are the plots dragged out with nonsense you don't care about.
The acting is believable, the actors play likable characters and those have depth. They aren't cardboard characters or dull stereotypes, they all have their backstory and purpose. While this is an adaption of a comic there are apparently issues to overcome.
For example filling the time that you have in a TV format with dialogues. I haven't read the comics and can't comment on how faithful the series is overall but it definitely delivers the concept very well without having to know the comic.
Comedy is rather subtle here but usually very sweet. The humour comes often from the brains Liv eats and are situational.
Matching that comedy you get here and there fitting popculture references, like a very dark humorous, self ironic and absolutely brilliant Fight Club reference.
Especially shows with zombies are more and more frowned up on these days. People are slowly fed up with stories involving zombies. But this one takes a different approach.
As of yet (S01E10) there is no humans vs zombies, no apocalypse, just a how does a zombie try to live a normal, daily live kind of situation. Spiced up with brain induced antics, murder cases and a plot involving the commercial exploitation of zombies, in a way at least. ;) Each episode involves therefore a new case, a case that usually in some way is linked to the overall plot and therefore a new piece to the puzzle of the show.
On the other hand, because there's no apocalypse here, this show is not an action driven show. Nor is it a show where you can completely shut off your brain but I'd say it would work as a calm down kind of show.
You had an exhausting/stressful day at work, school, university, etc. and need to calm down, get your minds off things in the evening? Watch iZombie. Due to the aforementioned, it is a rather lighthearted not too serious show but it definitely is very enjoyable.
Personally this show, after the sad and undeserved cancellation of Forever, is my most favourite airing show.
Since it is a lighthearted show that doesn't take itself very serious at times - in smart ways nontheless - it may not please everyone. The cast seems a tad too young but I wouldn't go as far as to say there are miscast persons on this show as there are on other, bigger shows. When you dislike the synopsis, or think it sounds cheesy, that may be your right to say or think, but I think you misjudge this TV show very much and miss out on an incredibly enjoyable show that doesn't insult your intelligence with plots that get more and more ludicrous with each episode. Something bigger networks try more and more these days with each new show.
Charming shows like these are sadly a dying kind.
