It's pretty good, only got a few complaints mainly They basically merged season 1 with season 2, completely killing off the dark tournament arc and going straight to Sakyo's plan getting stopped... Even so far as Genki getting killed off the episode after you meet her, theres no 4 beast king arc at all... Oh and no Pu either... All in all it hits the beats of the original, but feels rushed and abandoned... Like they had no other choice than to try and squeeze everything into one season, then try and make that work.
Oh, Hiei and Genki are too tall.
Mainly just sad that they basically murdered the best arc and gave us this instead, Genki and Toguro are dead (though Genki gets revived in the original) and they were the main protagonists of the Dark Tournament arc other than Yusuke....
Gotta give it about a 6.5/10 watchable, enjoyable even... Just strays way too far from the source to the point that it feels like a one and done, they had zero faith in the show from the moment they wrote it.
I know anime is mostly a advert for the light novels or manga.... I read the translated web novel (before the author switched to LN only, no english publisher yet) and the manga which is based on the light novel... If I had watched this episode before that, I wouldn't have bothered... The core story is vaguely there, but they gutted all the detail and interesting bits from it.
If you like the concept of this, go read the manga anyway... I swear it's not this bad
Animation is good, and most importantly seems to follow the books faithfully to the main beats unlike some other animes we could name... Only issue I see is there is no mention of multiple seasons and to date trakt only lists 12 episodes, which will barely get to the point where whatsher face the one haruto was in love with appears from his past, think it was something like 5-6 years before he died they went missing including his half sister and half brother... We MIGHT be able to see the 3rd person from the bus crash, but at the speed of this adaptation 12 episodes will likely not be enough to reach that point, they'll have to start cutting chunks of the novel out and speed it up ruining the quality of the anime, or it will stay with the same pacing and hopefully the episode count will be more than 12.... Pretty please?
As far as I know the novel series is still on going and as we know anime is a book advert, so hopefully it will do it's job enough to get a series 2. Otherwise like most anime based on a novel, this is likely best to avoid unless you enjoy being teased without a satisfying end.
If you wanna read the books, hit up JNovelClub they have the licence to officially translate, and have translated 16 volumes of the book series already, these 12 episodes should cover the first 3ish volumes.
Okay, more of a romance than a comedy.
Seems to be written and acted by people who have no idea about mmorpg's and think every game is GTA o.0
Story leans more towards what should have been a VRMMO at least then the chemistry would have made sense, kinda feels like someone told someone about a VRMMO novel and then they made up all the details around that. Not saying they should make a overgeared or legendary mechanic movie or better yet tv show.... but if they did, it'd be better than this. Not saying this is bad, just if you actually play any games beyond GTA you'd realise pretty quickly.. this game would be boring as hell, there's only one small city for a start. Player housing can be broken into, which would be an interesting twist... but not one many players would subscribe to as new players would just get tired of being robbed every 2 seconds and starting from scratch everytime they login... Hard pass
Writer's have zero clue about code, servers, network management, user management, GMs, streaming - though was surprised to see poki (only one I recognised) or even deleting things o.o Seriously the guy just had the old build running in the background?

Anyway, not a bad movie. Well worth a watch, just try not to think too deeply when watching it.
I tried, it's just too cheesy and the actors don't act like "people"... People don't act like this in real life, and wouldn't in that scenario... It's like it was written by a 10 year old after hearing the basic plot from someone who overheard the plot at a noisy bar. CGI etc is great, it feels almost like the story could be a good one... if it wasn't so badly written... This review is better written.
If you can put up with the day time soap acting and writing, then you'll love this show. Otherwise take a pass on this one.

....Well... This is awful... Really, really bad.... I saw only the pilot, so fingers crossed they remove all the cliché bullshit, not to mention the completely derogatory sexism masquerading as 'girl power' and these characters are less than two dimensional.
And please, stop referencing superman as 'him' or 'he'... From the sounds of 'him', 'he's' an asshole
