Road House

An okay movie but not a patch on the original. Connor's terrible character aside the thing I hated the most was the strange camera work during fights. Camera would be blurry and shaky during fights especially where connections happened and the body cam stuff didn't work, it was just off putting

Dune: Part Two

I love Dune and have enjoyed all incarnations of this (including the PC game from 30 years ago) and while I enjoyed this I think maybe knowing the story back to back made it less enjoyable for me. Villeneuve's style of directing for me I don't think is quite my style in the pacing and shot style so it doesn't quite click.

Visually it's stunning, cast is great but it's not one I'd rush to watch again myself. 6/10

Halo

Lowered my rating as I was so bored on S2E1 I turned it off.

Dream Scenario

my biggest question is why Amber Midthunder is in this for like 2 minutes as a random sleep coach. Seems strange!

Silent Night

I usually love these types of movies but I just felt like this one was super slow. It took around an hour before any of the action got going and even after the montage he was still not very good mostly failing. Films like John Wick get going with great scenes within 1/2 hour but it was just so slow getting to the point. On the style, I get him being silent but having the whole film silent just made the slow pacing even worse. Kinda just felt like this film trickled along then ended which is a shame. Marks for effort but C for execution sadly.

Five Nights at Freddy's

First I've not played the games so this review is purely on the movie!

Throughout watching this I thought I was just watching a copy of Willy's Wonderland!! However the key difference is that while I enjoyed Josh in Future Man I don't find him very charismatic and in this movie he was always just low key miserable and seemed like he was barely interested to be there, maybe that's the character but I didn't find the performance great. Then when you put this against Willy's Wonderland with a VERY similar plot but has Nic Cage brutally fighting possessed animatronic robot creatures this just falls flat.

Elizabeth Lail was also equally quite flat and boring so combined these characters were just not fun for me. I had a lot more fun watching Matthew Lillard in the movie who gave a great performance but other than that no so much. I just found this slow and boring and while willy's wonderland isn't a masterpiece and Nic being a mute was strange it's better to me in pretty much every way. Strange movie!

Saw X

Definitely one of the best Saw movies and a good return to form. It does take a while to get going and I did kinda feel like the ending was obvious and not as brutal as I'd hoped for Cecillia. I was quite please to see the end credits have a scene with Henry but again I wanted a bit more here rather than the teaser that showed nothing.

On the whole very good but I don't think it quite stuck the landing. Slow start, great middle and a bit of a nose dive ending

The Equalizer 3

Started with some okayish action although using some blurry camera tricks to hide that is wasn't that well choreograped.

Then a slow middling journey of Denzel eating fish, drinking tea for 45 minutes then 1/2 of random gangster action.

I was never the biggest fan of these as they are you show and drawn out but at least they are over now

No One Will Save You

Wow, didn't know a lot going in but Jesus this was good. Horror survival alien crazy with some increasingly escalating weird shit. Excellent, gripping and crazy!!! :ok_hand::ok_hand:

Blue Beetle
Justice League: Warworld

Despite the synopsis of this movie sounding good sadly the first hour of this movie batman, superman and wonder woman are playing other characters in a number of scenarios with no real tie in to the justice league. It felt a very strange movie as you'll have no connection to the characters or know what's going on, however the last 30 is better and more classic.

Animation isn't that great, voice acting is good from Jensen but Stata felt like she was phoning it in.

Some enjoyment can be had with this if you stick through it but it's on the very low end of quality compared to the other movies

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey

This was so so terrible I turned it off. No plot, crap acting and poorly filmed horror plus the masks looks absolutely idiotic. Crap!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Utterly boring. I disliked Aquaman but at least Mamoa has some charisma, this just had more bland underwater sequences with Namor being dull, boring and lifeless. And the rest of the movie was mostly people just talking and being miserable

The Menu

I had no idea what this movie was about so assumed it would be something bland and drama based around eating.

BOY was I wrong.

This similar to a fine dining experience was well presented with a good build up and introduction to the characters and the location. However more like a succulent cheeseburger this had some real meat in it, each course was presented with shock and intrigue as the master plan was realised, as cheese topping the acting was outstanding with ralph fiennes giving one hell of an amazing turn as chef. But all the characters were great, and extra props to Hong Chau as his assistant, she was superb.

For dessert the ending wrapped everything up in a clever and satisfying way that was very smart and popped the cherry on top of the whole experience.

9/10 easily especially if you know nothing going in!!! Excellent!

Willow
Barbarian

I watched it due to the popular reviewed on here being positive. Jesus, what a waste of time from actors I like. The plot was just random and didn't really show anything on the characters at all. All of the place and the horror aspects weren't even scary. Literally just the first walking down the stairs that was remotely chilling at least for a bit before they killed off the best actor. And the police, why didn't you give your name and ask them to look you up, there would be records to show you're not a crack head lol dumb af

Prey

This movie goes back to basics and really recaptures the classic spirit of man (or woman in this case) vs Predator.

Amber does a great turn as Naru, a Comanche trying to show that she CAN hunt and ends up in a battle against the almighty predator. The evolution of the story is a well paced and the combat encounters are well planned and satisfying.

Aesthetically the predator is a more raw tribal type than we've seen before but is well put out.

There's a few CGI moments that could have done with a little longer is post but on the whole it's pretty good.

Fun, exciting and a classic Predator tale without all the fluff, much better than what we've seen in recent years.

Also the addition of a dog companion is fun :-) Although we are in a world where every movie likes to show strong women I think this movie framed it very well and the Comanche and time frame were a great choice.

8/10

The Gray Man

Entertaining enough with the highlight being Ryan and Ana's interactions and the fight scenes. However too much crap CGI (plane scene was crap) and drone shots everywhere. Also does everyone need to blow themselves up? lol

But really the story is just the same story we've heard a million times, nothing at all innovative.

Also I know these are action hero types but 6 got stabbed a little too much for such an easy recovery. At least in John Wick it's more believable. Also Henwick's character seemed pretty underused and meh, but I guess more in the sequel

Action: 7/10
Acting: 6/10
Story: 4/10
CGI&Drones: 3/10

The Orville

I see a lot of people bashing on season 3. Season 1,2 were more focused on the comedy as that's what Seth is more known for but be prepared that season 3 is a re-launch. Season 3 is designed to be a lot more serious in focus and a proper drama series, there are far less laughs but the emotional blows are deep and the topics it's dealing with are challenging.

It might not be the comedy gold it was but it's grown up it to a show that's as good if not better in many places as Star Trek

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Crazy weird movie, pacing a little slow at the start but when it gets going it gets going.

Odd is something I thought so many times during this moving, but loved it. Some LOL moments and I don't usually laugh out loud.

Worth a watch!!

Ambulance

I thought this movie was entertaining on the whole although a little drawn out but the scenes were good and it didn't lose me too much. I love Jake and thought he made this movie as he often does

However I thought the hero-ization of Will just because he's ex military and needs money because of his family was annoying. Especially the cop at the end, I mean he was only in the situation because the guy shot him plus cops have an oath to serve the law so he's breaking that by making false testimony. Stupid really, he was a bad guy as much as his brother

The Batman
Metal Lords

As a metalhead I would have loved to enjoy this but as others have said very much feels like the standard sterotypical highschool douche to good guy movie but with metal as a way of reasoning it. Also it seemed in some areas like it was trying to say classic metal was good but newer metal like Slipknot was bad as they had none of it played and her reacting bad and I really hate that type of metal eliteism.

The good, there was some good ish music and joe manganiello is always a plus but with the forced romance, over egging on swearing and sterotypes it fell short for me.

Yellowjackets

Good first season I think. I wasn't sure about the dual timeframe but I really like how it's playing out between both periods. Both sets of actors are very good, both the young and the older and some famous faces in there. Interested to see how the mystical / tribal elements play out next season. On the whole, keeps the attention and some interesting themes.
