The Nordic countries are the ones that most control the sale of alcohol, but also the ones that have the most problems with it. This searching (and finding) of de-inhibition is a very sarcastic look. The film also works better on its uninhibited side than on the dark side. The courage of the proposal seems subjected to a certain moralistic reading. For the dance scene alone, Mads Mikkelsen deserves three Oscars. "What a life, what a night. What a beautiful, beautiful ride".
This is an amazing piece of work. Nothing but facts here. I found the timeline of how some of the bulletpoints of the 2020 pandemic happened very interesting.
It is so sad to watch how so many people (even friends and family) are blinded to the facts and are so ready to accept the insane propaganda that Trump and his administration throws at us every day.
I assume there will be a part 2 as this ended roughly mid-year information. And so very much more has happened since.
I cant even imagine what a pro-Trump documentary about the pandemic would even look like. I am however pretty sure it would only be about 1 or 2 minutes long.
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too (if you're pro-Trump you're gonna hate this documentary)
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Mads Mikkelsen dancing and spinning around is one of the most beautiful cinematic moments in 2020
He's so good , great cast all around and a top notch movie
You could describe this style of filmmaking as ‘predatory,’ but it would be downplaying the meticulous, pathological, and unapologetically ferocious third act that erupts into an endurance test in abject brutality.
Less respectable reviewers will of course cry foul play, and suggest that there are legitimate reasons for deducting points in their ratings – but the reality is that they will simply be deeply ashamed of just how easy it was for this film to ensnare them before having the rug pulled out from their humbled little minds.
If you think you’ve got this one figured out, you should immediately start coming to terms with just how badly you’ve been had. Tread carefully.
I was pretty hyped but it did not live up to my expectations :/
Some annoying characters and politics. A lot of unoriginal and predictable ideas. Some will enjoy it. It's not terrible. Too cheesy for me
It's certainly not the worst movie I've ever seen but it wasn't amazing, either. It's very slow though in the beginning and doesn't really get interesting until towards the end. I liked the ending and think it raised some important questions. I think the idea of a zombie movie set when society is rebuilding has a lot of potential as a sub genre. I'd be interested in the sequel.
The concept, a theme park with zombies, is pretty dumb but not the worst idea the genre has brought us. The film is slightly above average and brings a twist to the zombie formula that Donald Trump would be proud of: turning refugees into the undead
"Spiral doesn’t present a pretty picture of modern-day America, nor does it present a happy outlook for its future. But it’s a horror film, after all, and what’s scarier than a neighbour’s subtle racism? Or that sly shake of a head when a gay couple kiss in a parking lot from a homophobic parent? These are real problems and they spread from one generation to another by a continued cycled of perpetuated hate. One generation to another. It’s up to us to put a stop to it and films like Spiral are a reminder of that."

Well. I guess these previous commenters probably think we're winning.

Well-made but overly-labored documentary about the US response. It gives the facts and the time line without opining until the end.
The problems I have are that it is too long. It could have achieved the same within the hour. But also that the pandemic is raging harder than ever still in the US... Like Michael Moore during the 2007 economic crash, coming to the screen with a docu too early renders itself obsolete.
For anyone living on the moon this year, this is the best record of the pandemic from a US viewpoint.
7/10
