The funny thing is that after the episode ended, I came here to give it some stars.
Alien universe film order:
1. Prometheus (2012)
2. Alien: Covenant (2017)
3. Alien (1979)
4. Aliens (1986)
5. Alien 3 (1992)
6. Alien: Resurrection (1997)
Spin-off franchise:
- Alien vs. Predator (2004)
- Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
I thought season 2 was a great way to end the show, but thought, well let´s give this a shot. This season was bad, really bad. The first one and the second were much more mysterious and kind of original but this one not. Everything is just a copy of older movie and shows and not in an original way.
I'm not sure if I've just simply outgrown this show or if this last couple of episodes are actually this weak... I really can't get into them
I prefer foxes.
While Isle of dogs is a beautiful film to look at I couldn't help but feel extremely uncomfortable with the depiction of the Japanese characters. The Japanese characters had a negative hue brushed on each character that felt explicit and alien, this wasn't helped by the fact most dialog spoken by Japanese characters wasn't translated (intentionally) and the presence of a literal white savior character. For me Isle of dogs (I Love dogs) doesn't have the charm or the whimsy of the superior film Fantastic Mr. Fox and while I don't hate this film I don't think it holds a candle to Wes Anderson's previous efforts.
*My opinion may change with subsequent rewatches.
Cheadle, mate, let’s not do that accent again, shall we?
Besides that, it’s a lot of fun. It kinda feels like diet Scorsese in terms of camerawork, editing, music and setting, but it also carries its own stamp at the same time. The characters could’ve been more engaging, it probably would’ve been better with a lighter tone because of how exaggerated everything is, but it’s always engaging enough to make up for the obvious shortcomings.
6.5/10
I think this is the first episode where the high concept just didn't feel original or interesting. There have been boring episodes before (season 4 has been pretty weak so far), but this one just feels so skippable. Some nice jokes, but otherwise pretty flat.
I went in thinking this would be a war movie and got a war movie and a court drama and an analysis of human behavior all in the same movie. Kirk Douglas gives a terrific performance. The war scenes are great and the effects hold up pretty well. The court room stuff is interesting and made me mad. The whole story is messy and there is no clear answer. War is hell.
For me, this is the weakest season, which is good and bad: bad because it is sad that they didn't manage to finish when on the top. Good because it makes it easy to go on and watch other sitcoms!
