The fluffy ending is a little disappointing, but the balance of the film is an impressive meditation on the effects of World War I on the Lost Generation.

This is it folks, this is peak television. What we have here is one of the most gut wrenching and masterfully crafted episodes ever brought to screen. Absolutely fucking phenomenal with career best performances from Murray Bartlett and Nick Oferman. Holy shit this will stick with me.
You always think this is the best 80s horror movie of all time, then you think about the so-so acting, the bad blocking, the violent edits and remember that The Shining came out four years before this, so then you shut up.
