An entertaining movie with good comedy, science fiction and spy like action.
"You know the difference between snow-men and snow-women? ... Snowballs"
A serial killer gets in a chemical accident turning him into a mutant snowman.
This is not a good movie by any means but it does fall into the "so bad it's good" category. Pure ridiculous fun with corny dialogue and bad one-liner jokes. The snow looks fake and so does the acting. The practical effects look good though and the use of CGI was put to a minimum which is a good thing. There's also some pretty cool kills. The ending was so fitting, loved it.
Way more entertaining than expected. It's a technically bad film but I had a fun time and that’s all that matters. I can see myself coming back to around the holidays.
This is a very special film.
It features one of the most charismatic actors of all time, Eddie Murphy, with an actor who was at his height, Martin Lawrence. Coupled with a fine director in Ted Demme and a brilliant, stretching, heartfelt plot line - this should have done more than it did.
I've seen it twice now and it lingers in the memory.
The final 45 minutes has real pathos. The first 30 minutes has stuttering fires and misfires of that Eddie Murphy magic. The bulk of the film though hums along really nicely.
A very special plot and a very praiseworthy execution. If you've not seen it, see it. It's well worth it.
7.5/10
highly recommended this is such an awesome movie worth way more than 79%. big fan of martin lawrence & eddie murphy then put em together it's even better. such a great story with ofc some laughs which you expect from these 2. i own this on bluray.
the ending is one of the greatest moments. just chilling
Delves much more into the home video market which is nice to see. There are some gems in here that people would have missed, I know I did.
I always wanted to rent it again when I was little. I still like strange movies like this now. I probably enjoyed it more because I didn’t see the first one until years later.
I believe there is a fantastic 15 minute short film that is buried in this film, but at its current length, I have a hard time recommending it. So many good ideas overstay their welcome, and when you're going the "no dialogue" route, what was already a slow paced film can start to feel glacial. Not to put too fine a point on it, but I struggled to stay awake. And I wasn't watching late. I was drifting off before 8 PM to these trippy visuals.
Speaking of the visuals, they are legitimately fantastic. Watching The Assassins boots as he takes his first steps out of his drop pod had me thoroughly engrossed. The level of detail is ridiculously impressive, and the creativity on display in the various character, creature, and set designs is absolutely top tier. But all the visual creativity in the world won't get you too far in a narrative driven medium. There just wasn't enough story for me. And what little story there was seemed to pride itself on being opaque, as if begging to be the subject of some 10,000 word deconstruction by the next generation of film snobs.
