This is one of my favourite films ever! The story of three brothers (actually two brothers and a cousin but they are like brothers) whose lives take a dramatic turn after an awful event and confrontation sends their lives spinning in different directions. There's so much to say about this film but I'm not going to go into all that, I'd be typing for ages. I'm just gonna say that this is a strong story of brotherhood and is definitely worth watching.
Infinity Pool drowns in its own insanity. Yes, Cronenberg presents some fascinating ideas but then abandons them for cheap shocks and disturbing imagery. Some restraint would have served this film well.
[Mubi] A film that subtly poses a state of violence and complicity that is more terrifying than if it were shown explicitly. The scenarios in which the characters seem embedded, the tension of private conversations, the machismo settled in the strata of power, show an atmosphere that causes unease. A film that seems an introspective thriller, a vision of the sewers of power and the silences that surround them.
