Whew. Finally watched this after having it in the queue for awhile. It's a classic and I only know it from the Cable Guy joke. I did not expect it to be as shocking as it was. I figured it was shocking for its day but there is some shit in this movie that I did not see coming. So shocking I was saying "what, what, whattttt" out loud to myself alone. And that Cable Guy scene? Spot on. This movie was definitely not fair to the Turks, I will say that. I mean the whole movie is rough but specifically the trial scene where he calls them all pigs, etc. Not cool. But Oliver Stone and the makers have since apologized more than once and done talks on it so I think it's okay to enjoy the movie otherwise. Yeh?
The absolutely worst movie I've ever seen with Nicolas Cage. I always thought that he's an indicator for bad movies, but this is by far the worst ever.
Crap! Why this Korean flick (originally titled Gwoemul) created such a hype I absolutely do not get. The monster looks mostly ridiculous and the (for me) unbearable way of telling a story including absolutely silly dialogues and situations ruin what little potential this action-shocker could have had...
I think I am not made to get the drift that a lot of Asian movies have when it comes to story telling. Perhaps that's the reason why I do not like The Host, Battle Royale or House of Flying Daggers.
Yea sure, "a movie". More like a 20 minute episode.
Toy Story of Terror! is a fun and clever Halloween special that the whole family can enjoy. When Bonnie and her mother stay overnight at a motel Woody and his friends find themselves being attacked by a mysterious monster that abducts toys. Most of the film cast return to reprise their characters, and are joined by Carl Weathers and Stephen Tobolowsky. Additionally, the writing is especially well-done, and includes a lot of witty dialog and clever satire. But the story’s a little fast-paced and is paper thin. Yet all-in-all, Toy Story of Terror! is terrifically entertaining and a wonderful addition to the Toy Story series.
An amazing film about an amazingly talented man (and of course the rest of the band Queen who are equally as amazing!) Really interesting to learn the backstories!
A fantastic follow up to Toy Story 1 & 2, it could be a stand alone movie in it's own right. Hilarious at times, yet manages to pull on the heartstrings quite possibly more than any other Pixar movie.
I liked this movie much more than I expected. I believe the low rating here and on IMDb is due to angry religious people that don't like the atheism concept thrown in their faces.
Plot is a little weird, but is good acted and directed. It is funny indeed. At least a 7 is well deserved.
I just came back from watching this and OMG it was so AMAZING! I truly had my doubts about Rami Malek playing Freddie but he really outdid himself. He should be nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor and the movie should be nominated for Best Movie, or Documentary. It is really a great movie that will take you through the best part of Freddie and Queen's life. I am a bit sad that they didn't show the last years of his life, but otherwise it might take longer. (Which wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion XD). The other actors really portrayed the band very well. It never felt like a true movie and the final 20 minutes are EPIC!!!
But I might be biased I grew up as a Queen fan...
Sorry movie not worth your time, acting is bad, and zombie stalker come on!
I can't remember the last time I cried while watching a movie. and I'm not an emotional person, but the ending scene was trully exceptional i just couldn't stop myself. the casting was amazing, Malek's performance was perfect as well 10/10
Finally, DC movie creators have woken up: it's no longer about being fun (and campy) but about being REAL! This is the most realistic origin story you will ever see. It's like an eerie, sometimes off tune karaoke machine for the sign of the times today. His manifesto is his notebook and we get to discover his MO with him. It's a slow burn until the FIREWORKS make you want to look away. You will hate what is happening on screen but a deformed compassion will lock your stare.
DC and WB, you've just been given the greatest gift all tied up with a bow - if you can't figure out how to build on this, you shouldn't be in the film business.
Film nerd slang: Taxi Driver meets The King of Comedy.
Written and directed by Zak Hilditch. From an atmosphere charged with tragedy and pain, 1922 is a typical nightmare draw from the mind of Stephen king. Highly recommend.
After watching Sicario, I have to say that the movie is pretty great. This movie was made by Denis Villeneuve and he has been making some great films as of late. I think the best way to describe this movie is a better version of "Zero Dark Thirty". If you keep that movie in mind, you'll notice that both of these movies hit the same sort of narrative beats. However, in my opinion, not only is this film much more intense but it is also much better executed. Denis is once again teamed up with famed cinematographer Roger Deakins, and boy do these guys ever know what they're doing. The visual choices near the end of the movie were absolutely phenomenal. These two do well to sure make this movie gets better and better as it goes on. It is very well acted and the characters here are well-defined and interesting. The shining light in this movie are its action scenes where not only is tension built up extremely well, but it also pushes boundaries that you don't often see pushed in films. This film aims to be disturbing and messed up at points and I believe it did its job very well. Now unfortunately, there was one shot which really did bother me, there is a scene where a character is getting strangled and it is very apparent that the victim was receiving no force at all from the attacker. It was the one scene that really took me out of the movies universe. Anyways, besides a few narrative weakness, I would definitely recommend this movie. It might bump up to an 8 next time I see it, but for now I'll give it a 7 out of 10.
The makers of Pixels were faced with what I imagine was pretty difficult task of making a film that appealed to both young audiences as well as the folks who grew up with the games and references featured in the film. Taking that into consideration, I did enjoy the movie. To be honest, it wasn't as "nerdy" as I had expected and hoped but it was entertaining.
The special effects were outstanding for the most part. There were only a couple of instances where the green screen effect was sloppy. You'll catch them no doubt.
It was a Happy Madison production so the cast was a lot of familiar faces. And the song choice was predictable. But didn't really hinder the film at all.
As for story, it wasn't awful. There were a few times when I just couldn't go along with it. But for the most part it didn't feel forced. It was all very funny and typical Adam Sandler humor.
There's nothing after the credits but during the credits you can watch the entire film in 8-bit format. Pretty cool.
Good movie (7/10), plus an extra point for the prostitute with three breasts.
Ever see a movie and you suddenly realize your IQ is dropping? That's this movie. I seriously cannot believe this movie got made, or that anyone in charge of the budget signed off on it. It's horribly dull, just scene after scene of people dancing and partying. These four "ladies" go on "spraang braaaake" and bad stuff happens. I kept waiting for the point, but really, the movie has nothing to say other than "look at these ladies in their bikinis." I guess the "moral" is that you shouldn't do bad things or bad things might happen to you? Maybe?
My least favorite part was the constant repetition of lines. I feel like the "writers" couldn't come up with good dialogue, so when they found something they liked, they repeated it. At one point, the girls get arrested, and they keep saying "it wasn't supposed to be like this" over and over. I'm not kidding, I think they said it six or seven times. The film is visually stunning, if I'm being positive. They spent a LOT of money on neon lights and fake guns...and swimsuits. SO MANY swimsuits, and so many closeups of women in swimsuits. I kinda feel like the director graduated from "Girls Gone Wild" to artsy films, but this need more plot, character arcs, and less of James Franco's teeth. If you want to hear people say "spraang braaaake forevvvvvahhh" many MANY times, go for it.
what the fuck... 78 votes when is not even realeased yet, holy shit people have some serious problems
Holds up pretty good for a twenty year old sci-fi.
By Paul WS Anderson's standards it's a masterpiece.
But the music is just awful, it's like the Starwars score made by a tone-deaf person.
Predictable story but nice enough entertainment for a rainy day.
Oddly enough this supposedly takes place in the same universe as Blade Runner but don't get your hopes up, apart from the odd reference and place names there are absolutely no similarities.
I feel bad for Chris Columbus. Since he actually said that making Pixels reminded him of working films like Gremlins or Goonies in the 80's. When you're teaming with Sandler and Happy Madison, you're not making another Goonies or Gremlins....
Talented Michelle Monaghan is wasted as Sandler's love interest. She was just picked on and nominated for a Razzie just for being in it. She's not the problem though.
I mean the film is about aliens taking over by bringing 80's video game characters to life. As a fan of video games, Wreck it Ralph did more for me. Since this film is more Sandler and friends trying to be funny rather than about the video game characters.
You also have Josh Gad "the guy who's popular just due to talking for Olaf in Frozen" singing Everybody Wants to Rule the World, was I supposed to laugh at that ? Because I didn't. I also didn't believe Adam Sandler as the guy smarter than everyone else when he acts like a jackass non-stop.
This movie was a total waste of time for me. No logic, no good scenarios or dialogues. Nothing good about this movie.
Such a terrible film and a big waste of time. I don't recommend it.
Very funny and WAY better than "Shrek 3", even though the "Be Careful What You Are Wishing For"-theme is a little washed out...
love it!! it's an amazing film
hello is someone there can you hear me?
Seth Rogen steals the show as the voice of B.O.B. While everyone is ingood form as well. The film itself has a fun groovy feel to it.
A super themed theme! I wonder how hard it was to record and direct this documentary. Have the permission of family members and be present in intimate moments of pain and hope. That plane with the camera on the ground near the end was fantastic! I felt a deep void accompanied by the suffering implicitly shared by the family. It's worth watching.
This film puts you right in the middle of 4 people's passage to death. I found it an excruciating experience because I couldn't disconnect from seeing myself or my family caught in the same inevitable journey. That is good filmmaking. The closer you are to this future reality the more poignant and intimate. Nominated for an Oscar, this film is well made. I give this film a 7 (gripping) out of 10. {Documentary on dying]
This one brought back so many bad memories. I was ugly crying from start to finish....
