i think it's time we blow this scene, get everybody and there stuff together ok 3.2.1 LET'S JAM
SEE YOU SPACE COWBOY
for me, it was the best anime series ever created, not only the script, music or an ordinary hero is very real in its concept and undoubtedly messages between lines are best.
I used to skip cleaning the classroom just to catch this on TV back in high school. And it still holds up! Actually, now that I understand it better, it's all the more awesome. The music is a stand-out, the story progression and interesting characters all serve to make this truly a masterpiece.
Absolute masterpiece. I remember the first time I watched it and needing to take a quiet half hour after the jaw dropping finale.
If anime has never grabbed you, this is the one to check out to maybe change your mind. Regardless of the medium it's just a fantastic story with big ideas, engaging characters and good balance of humor.
...and what's not to love about a tricked out welsh corgi in space :)
Totally space cowboy.
[there is a live action adaptation in the works with Keanu Reeves chasing the lead role. Sadly for the moment its stuck in development hell]
Absolutely stunning pictures of a tragic event. This is frightening and scary at the same time!
Absolutely fantastic. I will admit that I hesitated at first, but then I thought why not give it a try. Gloomy and eerie, but good at it. The music throughout the series is really well chosen; it fits perfectly well. The writing is also top notch, as is the acting. You can either have it in English sound or in German sound with English subtitles. Honestly I wasn't bothered at all with the English sound, so if that's your thing you will be able to enjoy the series just fine (maybe you'll also be slightly less distracted as opposed to reading subtitles). Personally I chose the German sound, as it felt more natural.
Honestly, give it a try. Might very well be the best series I've watched this year.
EDIT: Binged season 2 in a sitting. Just wow. This review doesn't do it justice. And the casting...I mean, I totally thought old Ulrich was the result of CGI or something. Season 2 is best thing I've watched this year and last year included (ever?).
Intelligent, twisting, gripping, well written and well acted. Definitely worth a watch. Netflix gives you options - mine was the original German with English subtitles. That’s my recommendation.
German Netflix viewers: How do you track this show? Seems like the ordering is completely different. Send help :)
Judging by the cast, the directors (see IMDB), the trailer and the fact it's based on the legendary Phillip K. Dick's shorts, I am so hyped by this!
--Edit after watching episode 1--
The hyped feeling was for a reason..
Keeping in mind there are still 9 episodes to come, all with completely stand-alone stories, so far it seems this might be a new masterpiece! Throughout the whole episode I felt like being swept away by the story. The story was brought to life by a lovable cast, great sets and decor lots of mystery and questions in the storyline to demand your attention and tickle your desire to keep on watching.
As I want to keep this review spoiler free, I can only urge you to watch and be (hopefully) positively surprised, just like I was. I am really looking forward to the next episode with a new story, new cast and new director. If they do a tribute to Philip K. Dick's work as done in the first episode, the next ones are also gonna be really satisfying!
After watching the first episode , wow . Solid show all around . Not heavy on special effects but that is really not an issue , it put more emphasis on the characters . Great cast and great storytelling . An absolute must watch for Sci-Fi fans . I also really enjoy the anthology aspect , I have no idea what to expect in the next episodes , but I know it's going to be good .
Having just finished the first episode, I'm already besotted with this series. It is a filmed anthology of short stories by Phillip K. Dick. There is some heavy hitting talent behind this project. Both Ronald D. Moore and Bryan Cranston are Executive Producing and contributing in their area of creative excellence, writing and acting, respectively. And, they have amassed acting talent from all over the globe. This series reminds me of The Twillight Zone and The Black Mirror, and I'm looking forward to it being a treat. I give the first episode a 9 (superb) out of 10 and expect subsequent stories to hold, and maybe exceed that rating. ****Having just finished the episodes released in 2017 (01-06) I maintain my rating and am so looking forward to the last 4 episodes promised for this 1st series in 2018, and hopefully Series 2, 3...*[ScFi, Fantasy, Drama]
WOW.
Some eps are so awesome.
My watching order (from amazon prime) was different from the one reported by trakt, but they are stand alone episodes so no worries
I can give you only an advice.
Watch them!
I just finished first episode and damn this is good stuff. Hopefully the rest is equally good.
Never heard of this show until I started looking around on my Amazon Prime account, which I rarely do. Every scifi guy should give this a try.
Fantastic stories, great cinematography and production values, excellent performances and a superb soundtrack.
The focus of the series are the people and the storytelling, not the special effects or other hollywood super hero bs.
The world and the character building are top notch. Dark, mysterious, melancholic, with a nostalgic feeling in it. just perfect series. In fact, i can't find anything that bothers me.
This is art.
I believe this show needs a special kind of audience. Some of it's own breed.
Totally support the idea of being art, more than just entertainment. But doesn't have to exclude each other.
For people who have the patience going to a museum and look at a piece of art for a long time and making their own thoughts.
Nothing is explained down to the obvious here.
I will continue watching and would vote for a second season.
Very happy that things like this still exist.
Thank you, team "loop".
The second season of Noragami has just finished and it surpassed the first in every way. I remember really enjoying the first season but finding the final few episodes and confrontation a bit underwhelming. Well, the second season doesn't have that problem. It hits the ground running and remains consistently good throughout. Deciding to animate two arcs back-to-back with little-to-no filler in between was definitely a wise decision by Bones.
As others have already said, this series really does stand out from other more generic action/comedy shows, thanks to a likable and well-developed cast, good quality animation and of course a godly soundtrack by Iwasaki Taku (also responsible for the soundtrack in Katanagatari).
All in all I have really enjoyed Noragami thus far and I hope we get more in the future.
In a world of bland stories and repetitive storytelling, Noragami stands out. I can't help but to think that, with its many sides and moments, 12 episodes don't even begin to scratch the surface on these series's potential. I won't spoil it too much: if you are in for something slightly different from the usual, watch this one.
While Noragami isn't exactly a masterpiece it is a well-rounded show with a good cast and animation to set it apart from the big pack of generic, shiny, fantasy action shows.
The story follows the god Yato (who is weirdly dressed like a Slav) on his quest to gather a following and build a shrine. To achieve that he does all sorts of odd jobs for the lowly cost of only ¥5 - the amount you tip when you pray at a shrine in Japan. Hiyori, a girl who's soul gets stuck between the human world and the afterlife joins him as his longest contracted "customer" aswell as Yukine, a teenager who becomes Yato's regalia (weapon) to combat evil spirits.
While there is initially a lot of comedy mixed inbetween the show gets progressively "darker" in tone but is still played save. I really hope the show gets another season because there is enough left to explore and the format works really well.
With a story and and great animation, Noragami really stands out. There is more to the story in the manga, but unlike some animes this one gave the anime a proper ending. OVA 4 is the story after the episode S0213. Overall i really liked the anime and would definitely recommend everyone to watch it.
Loved this! It has some plot holes and there's not much to the story but it's fun and short (too short). Fell in love with the characters super quickly none the less. Fingers crossed for another season!
This one's just amazing. The thicc plot, badass background music, lovable characters and development.
Not gonna read manga just because I wanna watch it animated for BGM <3
Have a listen to them OSTs on YouTube!
I was close to dropping this after watching the first season because it didn't seem to be going anywhere however the second season far surpasses the first. Looking forward to a possible 3rd season.
If that absolution didn't happen on Yato's divine weapon at the end of season 1 I probably would have ditched the show. They really pull you in after that point and it's all uphill from there.
Nice, like Kenshin, a ex-assassin trying to fix old mistakes..but God's style!
Still good as I remembered as a child before I could watch them in order. Probably one of my favorite intro music.
