There sure has been a lot of hate for this movie, especially from those who haven't even seen it. The occasional joke misses the mark and there are too many throwbacks to the original. Chris Hemsworth's character is pretty much a one joke effort and is the weakest part of the film. However, the four leads are terrific and have great comic timing. The effects are great and for once are not all CGI. There is potential for a sequel and I would welcome it.
The film is a lot of fun and will probably convert the haters if they can remove their heads from their butts. The reason the 1984 film is so iconic is because it is over 30 years old and has become a classic. Take off the rose tinted glasses and people should see that the film isn't perfect. The 2016 film doesn't fall far behind the original and will be around for a long time too - at least until the apocalypse - so sit back and enjoy it.
Cameos from all the original cast including the late Harold Ramis (check out the museum in the early scenes).
I really liked it, but I'm heavily biased. You could tell Scott Cawthon had oversight over everything that happened in this film and the story is very faithful to the games, just altered for a new audience. If you've played the games or are very familiar with them, you will most likely enjoy this film, like I did. If you're not familiar with the games, I can understand if you are left confused and possibly disinterested and that's okay, it's not going to be for everyone.
I will admit that the acting was hit or miss. Josh Hutcherson and Piper Rubio did a great job as their respective characters throughout the film, though it was a little iffy at the very end. Matthew Lillard was just okay, but I can see how Afton would be a difficult character to act. Elizabeth Lail's performance as Vanessa was honestly not very convincing to me, but to be honest her character isn't even that fleshed out in the games either, so maybe there wasn't much to work off of.
The production and set/costume design was really great in my opinion and should be appreciated. They really made the world of Freddy's feel realistic and dynamic. I also loved the cameo appearances!
Could have been a tad scarier. Maybe the end could have been made slower. Other than that, it was surprisingly good. Also had a good laugh at the well-deserved MatPat cameo.
this film is beautiful and sad but the end is very moving and serenity and the scenes after the credit gives you a sense to hope.Strongly recommends
