I wish they would follow the book, rather than buy the rights to the book, then throw it all away and just make up new stuff which is apparently what they have done.
Oh hello there Mr. Shakycam - I hate you.
Justin Long using the rape dungeon as an opportunity to boost his listing square footage is the most realistic portrayal of an AirBnB host I’ve ever seen.
Really very good. I was surprised. The only flaw is that I prefer an unhappy ending.
starring Sebastian Stan as Armie Hammer
Overlong, inconsistent and definitely style over substance but I still really enjoy this entertaining dark comedy/romance. It's cute, unconventional, suspenseful, darkly funny, and I didn't expect it to be this campy. The genres mash together in unexpected ways, and performances really drive this one. I can't believe I'm saying this but the highlight of this film was Sebastian Stan. I would recommend going into this film knowing as little as possible.
Calvin is a genuinely bad person. I give the narrative credit for letting Ruby be an actual person and not just a MPDG before Calvin began tinkering with her, but they undercut that by giving him hope in the end.
Rather unusual for an 80s film with gay characters in that nobody gets or dies of AIDS. It's not even depressing.
It’s a lot like the first one.
It’s kinda trashy and childish, and it’ll probably make you cringe at least a few times, but it can’t help to be fun occasionally.
Tom Hardy clearly enjoyed himself making it, Woody Harrelson is fine.
The action is alright, but the production value is awful, the whole visual look is dated and cheap.
Like, this was shot by Quentin Tarantino’s DP, but you’ll never be able to tell that because of the production choices made by Sony.
The plot itself is very thin, uninspired and mostly forgettable.
Everything about it is extremely disposable, and the whole thing just screams ‘streaming movie’ to me.
You really don’t need to waste your money on this by watching it on a premium format.
4/10
I've seen worse. But it's not good, and it doesn't remotely resemble the source material. It's a PG-13 comfortably dumb movie and it suffers from its shackles. Carnage is hammy and goofy rather than sadistic and maniacal. Not recommended.
"i say give me dong... or give me death"
If people go in expecting "haha funny" all of the time, they'll be disappointed. It's a good show by the end (picks up steam around episode 5) but nothing like Futurama or The Simpsons, so I can see how it can be misleading if you go in with that expectation.
My main problem with it is what other people seem to like: the drawing style. I'm not even sure I can explain it, it just doesn't do anything for me.
The characters are what seems closer to Groening's previous works. You'll like most of them once you get to know them, with their quirks being decisive in it most of the time.
If feels like it was too short of a season as well, so I guess that's one more thing on the pros column. I definitely would like to see more ASAP!
The opening of the first season SLAPS, and the second seasons opening is pretty good too. I plan on finishing Season 2 today, so I'm not sure how it ends but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this anime. The facial expressions are fun and the plot, while not heavy or super serious, is kind of wild. Some of the games they play don't make sense as gambling games, but considering that the idea of a gambling school is rather absurd, it's kind of funny. The only minor issue I have is that this anime is definitely very fanservice-y, if you aren't into that.
Brilliant writing, brilliant acting. Brilliant.
This is the most fucked up show I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. Highly recommended.
dina and noaf i love u girlies <3
A true adaptation of the manga, Devilman is a series following two boys (Ryo and Akira) and their lives after Ryo takes Akira to a Sabbath party and encourages him to be possessed by a demon in the ensuing bloodshed.
The story is quite simple and previous iterations have not been as good, but this series is dark and touching. The animation style is unusual but attractive and suits the themes very well. It's spooky seeing how people act after they have become part demon and the turning points in the series were truly gripping and made me cry out in response.
Definitely worth a watch but be warned there is a lot of violence and sex.
Butterfly guy is dead... So sad, I really liked him. I actually like all the rappers, hope they don't die.
The first Pixar movie that I ever cried for, maybe it was the beautiful art, the compelling story or the fact that I was being represented on tv, no I'm not a sea monster, but if you replace all of the times that "sea monster" was said in this film and instead use "gay" you'll get what I mean. Hat's off to the writers, I could go on and on about how perfect the parallels are but I'll just have to silenzio bruno!!
So Pixar are just gonna give me a film with sea monster as allegory for being gay and expect me not to develop an insane attachment to it? This is really really a happy place for me. One day we’ll have the real thing, but for now we have Luca:green_heart:
The first and only animated DC or Marvel show or movie I've actually found worth watching. Finally, one for adults (and, considering the language and graphic violence, only for adults at that). And I must say that Harley is pretty hot in this. Don't get confused by the start of the first episode, as she does change to her new modern Suicide Squad-based outfit eventually. This series is focused on the bad guys, sidekicks, the competitive environment for them. Also, it has a lot of points about female empowerment (mansplaining, etc.) which is refreshing vs. more outdated roles. Definitely addicted, and can't wait for the 3rd episode!
One of the worst propaganda movies of all time. The acting itself is okay, but anyone that's ever smoked marijuana knows that it is nothing like alcohol and the movie takes all the issues with alcohol and attributes them to smoking pot. This programs movie was shortened to a 20 minutes version and showed at the opening of regular cinema features in the 1920's. The result of course is almost 100 years effort to correct the wrong information because so many people were indoctrinated to believe the lies.
I binge watched the whole show throughout the night. It was quite predictable but still watchable and unique. I enjoyed how realistic everything was. The cast was chosen just perfectly and did a great job to portray an acceptable teen romance. I'm looking forward for season 2.
This was perfect in every way and it has so much potential. Nothing like it out there that does these themes and topics so well without falling into harmful stereotypes.
It was such a nice refreshing story, i especially liked the cinematography! How everything is filmed true to life, the spaces, the people, u can see the pimples on the teens faces! Small detail but it made the series so much better and more distinguishable than something like elite where everyone looks as if they were genetically designed to be perfect! Also, it didn't feel like a bait season to make u crave a netflix subscription which is super plus for a netflix original! And i am really excited to see what the next chapter holds
This show is a good additional to the Marvel universe. Peggy is just the best. Fun comic book style action set in the "golden years". Old cool spy stuff.
I like how it uses characters and plot points from the movies, but doesn't indulge in them. (Vita Rays, Vanko, Jarvis).
It is a little odd to set it before the start of the one-shot. Now I'm just waiting for that to happen. Soon I hope, I'm sick of all the dudes mansplaining Peggy. I know that's how it was but still.
I also hope they spin off the Betty Carver show. Captain America sounds dashing in it.
Surreal, psychedelic nonsense that somehow takes an interesting idea, game cast, and state of the art effects to make a tedious, dull bowel movement of a film. Now that's talent. If you thought Dark Tower was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. 2/10
And YOU get acting lessons!..and YOU get acting lessons!..Aaaaaaaaaaaand YOUUUU get acting lessons!!!
Slow and completely ridiculous. How did Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly & Emma Watson get themselves involved in the crap.
White Castle is a classic, Gimto a fairly worthy follow up, but Christmas is easily forgotten.
There were a number of scenes that had me really laughing, but the story wrapped around them is awful and made it feel a chore.
Thomas Lennon was so-so, but the daughter thread was funny.
NPH was great.
If you can see it, the 3D is excellent as well as a running gag, though it does wear a bit thin.
Weak christmas pudding sauce.
