What bulls#!t backstories!! Zoro and his nemesis - instantly flipped to bestest friends, they made a promise and she immediately dies. Looked like a BS way to provide character motivation.
Same for Nami. Nami's mother is killed, so she works for the killer, to free the village; entire village hates her, but again flips on a dime.
I'm guessing the show condensed a lot of the story to fit it in 8 episodes and that's why it is so bad.
It starts off well, natural disasters, animals behaving aggressively, a new disease spreading... but it quickly dives into the horror/science-fiction/mystery scenario... and of course, that unknown intelligence hiding in the sea... sorry, but that's so done ad nauseam already. I don't know the book this is based on, mind you, but I'd have hoped for a more scientific explanation, I don't know some kind of climate change changed the physiology of existing species etc. Not this nonsense. And the ending was so predictable... sorry, but how often did I already see someone swept up on the shore, moving, opening their eyes and they're glittering now? That's so cliché... and it's also an open end. Why can't series be led to a proper ending any more?
And the characters... they're all so good, so committed, so utterly bland that I can't find any reason to really care.
I also realize that Europe's a small continent... but small universe syndrome where f.e. Sigur is in Geneva at one scene, and in the next he's at his house in Trondheim (a house which isn't really centrally located), then he's in Kiel, and then he takes a helicopter to the Shetland Islands... give me a timeframe of a couple of days for that, but the way it's shown it practically all takes place simultaneously.
After Lena Headey quit this show it’s even worse. Basically, 2 actors. I don’t see the purpose for a second season. I guess Lena Headey felt the same way.
Mostly cringe. Just trying way too hard to fit it jokes. Also the story is so lame. Could have portrayed it better.
How will this be the last season of this series!! That's sad!!
The first half of the season was quite average Gotham quality with some great high points.
I barely enjoyed some of the last episodes (at least episodes 9 and 10) because of some really silly scenes and quite rushing plot. Still wasn't too bad, I guess.
But the finale... Overall, a really wonderful and enjoyable episode that brought us something we all were waiting for. And this episode, if anything, made me want to see more. I would've wanted it to be longer, like a double-long episode, but at least they managed to wrap this show up really well.
Solid 8 out of 10 for the whole season.
9 out of 10 for the final episode.
