I liked the first season a lot, and was very happy when season 2 was announced. I've now watched the entire second season and, even if I still like the show and find it entertaining, I did not enjoy that much how the story was developed this season.
There are lots of things that I like, and the ideas are there, I just think they are not being developed to their full potential, so the show often seems to be adding things out of the blue rather than showing us a progression and let us experience the journey.
For instance, these new characters Vince & Simon, their stories are so under-developed that, for me, the season finale was a big no-no. Everything in it seemed disconnected, and some things didn't even make sense. I borderline hated it, it was that bad.
Also, what about the faction? they seemed to forget everything about it, the same as with Phillip's addiction. One episode it's central to everything and he's abusing his eye drops, the next episode that's completely gone and never mentioned again... I think maybe this season would have developed better if it had focused only on Vince or the faction, not both.
As a side note, does anyone else find themselves more sympathetic towards the faction than the director? they are ruthless, I know, but their argument actually makes sense, or more sense than changing history, but not too much, and expect radical changes in the future...
I don't know, even in episodes that I thoroughly enjoyed (the one with the outbreak, the other one with the retries) , there is always something that doesn't quite fit for me. Hopefully they sort this out for season 3, because, as I said, the ideas are there and there's a lot of potential.
