Seemed like it'd be good at first, but near the end things went downhill. I have never watched a drama where I was this bored or where I didn't even care about the main pairing. It tried too hard to be deep and emotional, yet only came out dull. Actually, it was slightly funny how many scenes were comprised of multiple silent-crying shots of people staring into each others’ eyes, and no talking at all.
The only upside to this drama was Esom/Young Jae's brother, Dong Jae, and also her best friend, Baek Joo Ran. They were the only people I cared about. Their struggles were portrayed well and I actually sympathized with them.
The final few episodes felt like they were each five hours long; that's how slow/uninteresting the story became. In fact, I didn't want to finish this drama at all, but the person who watched it with me (and felt the same way I did) convinced me that we'd already watched twelve hours of it and we might as well finish it, just so we could be done with it forever.
Ultimately, I don't recommend it. The main leads did not act as well as I had hoped, and that's saying a lot considering SKJ is one of my favorite actors. I hope his next drama is better, or else he might not be a favorite actor for me anymore.
STILL 17 HAS 32 EPISODES, NOT 40.
I try to go somewhere but my heart has no strength, so I’m just staying here while the place I long for grows far away. Many things have already changed in time. I’ve indifferently remained here, lost and wandering… ♫
This show was incredible. I was hesitant to watch it at first due to what I perceived would be a creepy relationship between the mentally-17-year-old MC and the possible love interest, but I am so glad I decided to give it a go. It sucked me in immediately, The relationships the MC fosters with people of all ages are portrayed realistically and without being creepy in the slightest. If you’re as worried about that as I was, I’d urge you to watch it—I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! It was a great watch and is definitely binge-able.
Soundtrack was top notch. The entire OST is gorgeous, really. I think I’ll have “Get Away” by Bonggu in my favorites playlist for a long, long time. It’s beautiful and really adds to the atmosphere of the drama. Actually, that could be said of any of the tracks! They really left an imprint on my heart.
