The usual Bojack: sometimes it's great, sometimes it's decent, sometimes it's amazing.
The last two episodes are amazing but for some reason I expected the whole season to be on that level. But still, it's fun and smart.
A lovely series, that talks about puberty in a smart and fun way.
I think the first half of the last season is a great return to form, that finally manages to get back to the level of excellence that Bojack Horseman always promised but only in season 3 consistently reached. Also, I like the vibe, how it's preparing the ending by reflecting on the past and touching an all characters. Very, very good. Let's see how it ends.
Bluey's third season (or at leats the part already available on Disney+) confirms and underlines what I already knew: it's the best show on TV. I already said I everything I had to say when I wrote about it after watching the first two seasons so I got nothing else to add besides bonjour pavlova!
It takes two or three episodes to get the rhythm but by then the series becomes amazing. Great writing, ambitious direction, a very good cast, nice themes and an actually marvelous actress.

Well, first of all, how nice it is to "be" in Hawaii for six hours. That being said, this is a very good show, wonderfully acted, funny, entertaining, sad, with lots of stuff to say, even if sometimes it's a bit goofy in how it says those things. It kinda does the Succession trick of making you care for people you despise because you nonetheless can see some humanity, some part of yourself, in them. And Alexandra Daddario deserves a better career.
Incredibly well written and acted, it's got an amazing way of subverting cliches and expectations and it's so good at balacing laughs, tension, drama, emotion.
I'm astonished by the rapidity with which this goes from "Interesting, fun, at times quite deep" in the first half of the season to "What the fuck, this is a masterpiece" in the second hallf of the season.
Great cast, amazing writing and directing, superb attention to detail and an incredible ability to balance drama, comedy, tragedy, farce. I deeply care and I am sincerely moved by things happening to people I despise. This is the best show on TV right now.
This is some frankly amazing shit. The level of fun, drama, zingers, beautiful writing, great directing, amazing acting, plot twists, tension, laughs, burns, emotions... Plus, I'm constantly amazed at how it makes me get emotional for people I despise. The best show on TV.
The longer season makes the overarching story feel a bit streched at times, but it remains really solid and the single episodes are almost always quite brilliant, so who cares? Plus, the last four or five episodes are really great, with a gripping crescendo and a closing cliffhanger that promises a more ambitious third season and the will to keep things fresh by shaking up the status quo. Thumbs up.
So, yeah, it's possible to get better with the second album, even if the first one was a masterpiece.
A beautiful show, it represents in a very thoughtful and specific way the work in a restaurant, reproducing quite well - I'm told - certain obsessions and struggles, even though there's some "poetic licenses", of course. But it goes beyond the specificity and becomes relatable by anybody thanks to the impeccable writing, the great cast of actors and the ambitious direction, both in small things and in bigger stuff like the tracking shot episode. The guest stars are also amazing, particularly "that one": it's already great when you hear that voice in one of the first episodes but then he appears and suddenly the two charismatic stars become gregarious and awestruck. Also, huge shout out to Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who approaches this show charged up like someone who spent twenty years coming from the bench, finally has got the chance of a lifetime as a starter and gives you 42 points, 18 assists, 13 rebounds and 6 steals.
By now I put Big Mouth in the same "relax zone" Rick and Morty is. I'm always there for them because I love the shows, I love the characters, I love they intelligent way they tackle certain themes, but also because there's always a couple of great episodes and they don't take too much of my time. At the same time though, I feel their best years are long gone and maybe they should end before things start to go really bad.
Idris Elba on a hijacked plane? I’m in! Also, the plot twist: he is not a superhero, not a secret agent, not a soldier, not a cop, not even a boxer, a martial arts expert, someone who learned how to fight at the school of hard knocks. But he does have a superpower: the art of negotiation. And he will use it to defeat (?) the terrorists. Hijack doesn’t have high TV drama ambitions and it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s got tempo, thrills, fun, all the stuff you want from something like this. It kinda reminded me of 24, not in terms of structure, clearly not because of the main character, but in its general vibe.
