So bad it was funny. Seriously, how did this movie get such good rarings?

Skinamarink

This felt like a self-absorbed film school project. Getting to the end was a lesson in tedium.

Speak No Evil

While similar themes have been portrayed in movies like Funny Games and The Strangers, this one ups the bleakness. The first and second acts get you warmed up to the fact that all isn't what it seems, but the third act really ratchets up the tension. Bleak, jarring, and ever so depressing.

Gwen

Not a horror movie in the traditional sense, but don't let that turn you away. It's a not-so-unrelatable tale of when life deals you a horrible hand...only set in Wales during the Industrial Revolution. The pace and cinematography lend perfectly to the despair of this poor family. Don't look for redemption or happiness in this film; there is no payoff, as plays true to the story.

This Is GWAR

Calling all bohabs! This is a must see for fans of GWAR, past, present, and future. Even if you know the story and mythos of the sickest band in the world, not many of us are privy to what happens behind the scenes; the interpersonal relationships and the controlled chaos of the machine that breathes even more life into their larger-than-life antics.

Though parts of the doc seem rushed, and some of the members are not included (where are you, Scott Krahl?), It is well worth a viewing.

I miss you Dave. Hail Oderus. Hail Flattus. Hail GWAR!

Blood Fest

Super meta, callbacks galore, super cheesy, all around fun.

What Keeps You Alive

Pretty brutal little survivor/revenge flick. The third act is contrived, but the second half is wild. Worth a watch.

All About Evil

Completely over the top. Trash cinema at it's worst (best). Natasha Lyonne is always great. Cassandra Peterson wins in a role that gives more than a one liner or cameo as Elvira is always fun. Peaches Christ shines as always.

For those of you that like the pomp and camp of B- movie trash, this is worth a watch.

Come True

Very interesting. Definitely misclassified as horror...although there are some horrific imagery. The premise is a pretty cool idea, though I feel like the director added a whole bunch of lingering shots and deliberately slow pacing to give more of an art-house vibe. Others have said that they didn't like the ending, and I can see why. This is an instance where 'show-don't-tell' really could have been more effective than the route taken (they literally spell out the ending for you). Ultimately, it does wrap up an otherwise confusing and aimless story.

Without Name

Definitely not for everyone. I would certainly not label this movie as horror. It is very eerie and atmospheric, with beautiful cinematography and a superb score...but this film is more art-house than anything, with sinister overtones.

If you want to watch a guy lose his shit while in the woods, it's worth your time.

Fried Barry

Just the type of irresponsible cinema we need for the bizarro world that we currently live in.

Lots of vomit. Lots of titties.

Big Charity: The Death of America's Oldest Hospital

A heartbreaking look into the death throes of one of the oldest hospitals in the United States, and how disaster aid and politics played into it's downfall. It's a must see for those of us from or around New Orleans.

I can only surmise the poor ratings are from people who are not happy that LSU is painted in a horrible light.

Dave Made a Maze

Completely absurd idea, but managed to keep me interested. The dialogue and characters are hokey, but the set designs were incredible.

An overall fun story.

Jesus Christ, that was bad.

Demon House

This was excruciating to get through. It's like his TV show, but lengthened into a feature film.

If you like ghost hunting TV shows, this will be something you enjoy.

The Disappointments Room

This was an awful movie. There was no character development, several scenes seemed completely disjointed and distracting, and there was no resolution on the third act.

Blair Witch

I felt like this was a huge let down. The Blair Witch backstory and the story of the fates the original characters left such a vast pool of ideas that could've been explored. Sadly, the movie felt like a rehash of events from the original. Thumbs down...
