This is an excellent movie that has completely surpassed my expectations. It has lots of amazing action and great comedy and wonderful performances from all the actors involved. The movie reminds me of Kill Bill.
Really solid film but the very ending disappointed massively for me. Kind of contradicts everything that came before it.
Aubrey Plaza wase born to play a role like this.
Can't think of a better actress to play a stalker than Aubrey Plaza and she does a great job. O'Shea Jackson Jr. is fantastic. I really liked the message I thought they were trying to say about today's society. People post fake shit on the internet to try and get people to like them but no one really cares.
Surprisingly dark at its core but a very fun ride. Aubrey Plaza has been picking some pretty interesting projects lately.
Marvel is going down the drain but man did this movie remind me of why it is so beloved. Absolutely incredible. The jokes hit, the emotional beats hit, the symbolism hits (Adam Warlock). An incredible end to an incredible saga. Now we have to get back to the mess that is Kang.
A fun watch at the cinemas. Audience was laughing throughout. I think a good crowd can certainly impact one's own enjoyment. A fun actioner w some good comedic chops. Some over the top silliness of course , but that's part of the charm I suppose. 7.9. Highly recommended for folks that know what they're getting into. Surprised critics are under 60% on rt. Too silly I suppose for some.
Not quite a "10" , but pretty darn close if you're looking for a fun actioner, where even some of the "bad" guys are kind of likeable, and the lead (Pitt's "Ladybug") is pretty much perfectly cast. Based on Kotaro Isaka's best selling novel, the film version does take some liberties with the characters as far as their ethnicities are concerned, as well as (IMO) the only glaring miscasting of the big bad which lacked believability, and caused me to briefly discard my suspension of disbelief, but overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, which I can wholeheartedly recommend. Hiroyuki Sanada is ALWAYS a welcome addition to pretty much any film he's ever been in, as is, of course, Miss Congeniality herself, Sandra Bullock, although she is used sparingly as "Ladybug's" handler.
The rest of the supporting cast, especially ("Kick-Ass" Himself) Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry are comically villainous counterpoints to Pitts charmingly successful but at times unlucky character, and, I liked the way the story intercut their backstories to tie their present situations all together. Again, if you're looking for Shakespeare, best catch another train, but if non stop comic mayhem is what you seek, grab a ticket, and take a ride on the this express train to chaos-town.
@Lazo - .....or, action-wise at least, a more gender mixed version of "Gunpowder Milkshake". ;-)
Hmmmm....,Will THIS be 2024's "Bullet Train?:

Great film! Fantastic acting! Slow burner for sure. If you think you can predict what's about to happen next, ha! Your gladly mistaken. Jane Campion's masterpiece will keep you guessing. Do yourself a favor and watch this film!
“I want to say how nice it is not to be alone.”
‘The Power of the Dog’ is a triumph return for director Jane Campion after a 12-year absence from cinema. The movies pace is steady and patient, so some people will take issue with that and find the movie too slow and uneventful, but for me, I was never bored by it. Instead, I was captivated by its eeriness and complexity. It’s a movie that never explains itself and nothing is articulated, but you can pinpoint the long-troubled history just from reading the characters faces and actions.
This is one of Benedict Cumberbatch’s best performance of his career and it’s my favourite role from him. He plays Phil Burbank, a repulsive and cruel human being, who deep down has this boiling rage inside of him that he unleashes by abusing animals such as horses. However, I also found the character fascinating, because you never really know why he does the things he does. The expression throughout the movie was irritation, as if the western wind said something that got under his skin. His got the personality of a misbehaved child, sometimes mimicking and mocking those around him. Sulky and strange, with a thousand-yard stare.
But man, Jesse ‘mother fucking’ Plemons, who plays George Burbank, the brother of Phil Burbank. I mean, holy shit what a natural and gifted performer. His relationship with his brother is complicated to say the least, and George is powerless to Phil’s constant insults towards his weight, appearance, and his new love for a female hotel keeper. Even then, the two brothers would still share a bed together. As I said before, it's complicated.
Kirsten Dunst plays Rose, a local hotel keeper who romantically falls for Jesse Plemons and gets thrown into the ranch life, something she and her son are not suited for, which sets the story into motion. Her son is played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, an awkward kid who stands out for the wrong reasons. Dunst and McPhee, both child stars who grew up into maturity on film and both deliver effective performances. Just from the facial expressions alone they manage to convey some much hurt and curiosity that the characters experience when in the presence of Phil Burbank. It’s one of the finest roles.
The use of music here isn’t something you will remember after the movie ends, but I feel that when re-watching it, the score, along with the scenes playing out, makes the experience more hypnotizing and oddly mystical.
The movie was filmed in New Zealand, and it never looked more beautiful until Jane Campion is behind the camera. Even with the muted colours and harsh quality to it, it still felt dreamy.
Although, if you’re a massive lover of animals, then beware because there’s a couple of scenes in this movie of animal abuse that may upset you. It’s not on screen for long, like a few seconds, but man those few seconds are rough. Or just cover your eyes.
Overall rating: whistles menacingly
I feel like I’ve just been yelled at for 2 hours by Adam McKay. Yeah, it's on the nose and way too obvious, but still decently funny.
5.5/10
Filmed in one shot, this is film is actually more than a one-trick-pony. Wonderful shots of Berlin nightlife and outdoors scenes, remarkable acting and grand writing. It all came together in a sweet, distasteful and grand way. I really enjoyed this film.
this is one of those movies that makes you forget that you are actually watching the movie and not part of the events taking place. from the continuous shot to the real time action you will only realize it was 2:15 hours when it's over.
Rating it poorly not for the content but because it was a boring-ass movie.
Overlong, with a story that could have been told in half the time. Still, the cast are good, especially Norton as the twitchy detective. The plot is as convoluted as Chinatown, a film that this movie resembles in scale. Purists won't care, because the atmosphere the film evokes is enough to hold interest, despite the narrative ramblings. It's a good film, although I think I need to rewatch it to get a fuller grasp of what went down at the end.
Who would have though there's a world outside the US/UK?
Certainly not me during this mockumentary
Just entertaining enough, mostly worth it for Lisa Kudrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant. It starts way stronger than it ends
Though it's curious to see that when they get to May and the BLM they switch to documentary and patch it up with a couple of bad, evident jokes about a racist Karen, a black Boris Johnson and such, all traces of subtlety and acid humor gone for practically the rest of the film.
I mean it's December, we've already seen plenty of pieces about it months ago, and much better ones. It wasn't funny nor informative.
And I wasn't eager to hear all about the election for 25 minutes straight either just a mere month later.
A fun unique rom-com with good chemistry between Andy Samberg and Cristin Militoti.
A light, bright and tight rom-com!
I didn't expect to love this so much. I kept my expectations pretty low for this because of its repackaged Groundhog Day premise. All of my reservations were blown away by this movie's sheer brilliance. It is fun, cheesy and heartfelt in the best ways possible. With the pandemic going on for months, this movie brought in an air of freshness.
Just go ahead and watch this utter delight of a movie. One of the best rom-coms in recent film. Definitely the best to come out this year.
An unnecessary and well made epilogue for one of the best characters from Breaking Bad. Aaron Paul is great and I loved getting more time with Jesse Pinkman and some of the other characters.
