For a very long time I'm waiting for a really good alien invasion show or movie. And let me tell you this is not it. The first 5 episodes could've been easily be only 3 and even still maintaining a slow pace. Which in the first few episodes is really annoying, dont get me wrong I'm all for slow burn, but this is often toooo slow and leading to nothing or almost nothing. It's not slow building to something relevant, it often feels like they're jus doin it for the sake of it. The aliens design is quiet nice, resembles the ones from Edge Of Tomorrow, even tho they're not that dangerous and hostile, at least not yet. The production value is actually quiet good, attention to details is often high but overall the farther the show goes the script gets weaker and weaker. Later on some decisions by the characters dont make any sense, to many convenient coincidenses happening in every episode, lots of logic flaws. Anyways, despite all the flaws I will watch the second season, cause like I said I like alien invasion shit, I just fear the ending will be something lazy like a server/client solution like we already had in so many stories.
Last night I went to see Dune for a second time at the cinema. I had been looking forward to this movie for a long time. Now after watching it, I have to admit that I have more criticism in fields, where Denis Villeneuve is usually a master, than I thought. For example, I know Hans Zimmer's score is very hyped at the moment, and it's not that I don't like it, but I expected it to be different, with unique and exotic samples, with overall more influences from world music, especially arabic - as everyone knows Dune/Arrakis is very much inspired by arabic/nomadic cultures. I also feel like some of the themes in the score don't fit with the ongoing scenes/visuals. Some of the used samples are actually even annoying, like this female vocals killing your ears every 2 minutes There were also some scenes where I didn't quite like the editing or staging. It also would've been nice to have at least one representation of a actor from the middle east, for example in the role of Stilgar. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Javier Bardem and he did a good job, but it just would've been right.
Despite all that, the movie is worth seeing and an experience. However, I think that the second movie will decide how I will rate it overall. At the moment I have rated it 7 points.
So, despite whether it's a good movie or not, I think it's an important one, for cinema in general. It's worth experiencing and I can only encourage anyone interested to see it in theaters.

Man these guys really never think anything through huh.. I'd say it's dumb to kill all ppl at the beach at all - not to mention it's mass murder and even in these circumstances horrible - but if you wan to do it, it's plain stupid to chase them all around this huge complex, you'll never get it done by 2 hours, let alone burn them all in the pyre, which is btw not even big emough for all of them.. Come up with some other plan dudes. And this one guy with the cap who beat the girl to get to know where Arisu is, WTF you don't pick up the gun from the guy you jus knocked out..??
Some editing was weird, but in the last episodes some of the score themes were nice. The fight scenes on the other hand not so. Weird cause I liked the close combat against the hunter in the second episode.
An doing detective work in all of this chaos is kinda funny, tho I don't know if there can be a conclusion, cause even if she finds useable finger prints, doesn't she have to collect and match them from alot of ppl by logic, is that all possible in that little time..?
Well, as this is a game of heart, wouldn't rule out the best friend being the witch. Or maybe she was (forced) into suicide..?
Overall this episode is a letdown for me.
Last thing, I always wondered why they all don't look up for the ppl who setup the games. Like someone has to bring all these phones and gears and stuff to the locations and do some work there..? They must also do alot of traveling and scouting around..
This was the worst episode so far, nothing made sense. I liked the twist even tho it was clear from the beginning.
Why did jus try to run deeper into the tunnel, it's not clear in which direction the goal is by their logic, so it could also the other way around couldn't it..? Anyways, Arisu took like one hour to get to the bike. So he decides, he who was laying on the streets for almost two days without food and not the somewhat fit friend of the guy in the bus, to run back tossing a heavy motorcycle with a bit of diesel despite having only one hour left. He don't even know yet how to get the diesel out of the tank, so far he doesn't have any pipe or tools, means even if he might find them it takes some time away. And there can't be much in the tank from the sound of it, how far can they even get with the bus..? He also doesn't know if the diesel will even work, he doesn't know if the bus has any other technical problems or if it's really jus not working cause of the diesel. Not to forget theres still the panther somewhere and all of these vehicles in the way. I'm even letting slip that the guy who drove the bus, that his leg is hurt, but even if we ignore all of these, there are still tons of vehicles in the way, how is he even gonna drive thru..?
So this is all about a death game. I didn't know anything about this show, jus seen a few pics. I expected some post-apocalyptic scenario, probably cause of the word "borderland". Ppl who regularly follow manga/anime know probably at least a few of this kind of premises, and funny enough for me, I'd count myself to one of those but just found out after starting the show that Alice In Borderland is actually based on a manga. Theres also a mini anime series of 3 ovas.
So for a pilot this was ok, nothing to spectacular. I jus think that how Arisu came out for the solution of the first game was abit to easy and not so realistic. Overall It sets the world and some of the rules. But off course theres still alot of questions. Most obvious one whos behind all this..? And are the ppl all gone, or are the players transported to some alternative world/universe, or are they maybe even in a vr simulation..? If not vr, the laser beams from the sky, do they hint theres some alien shit going on..? Can't be all satellites can they..? Also, what if ppl never participate in a game in the first place, could they jus live on..? Cause if I remember correctly they said "when you start a game you can never stop and have to keep going for the visa.." And one thing which I think is weird, if really the population is suddenly gone wouldn't there be way more accidents..? Like planes crashing down, explosions and fires everywhere cause of gas and other reasons..?
Ok I was actually suspecting that Hale took over world control somehow and they tryin to fool us with all the different timelines for the 210th time, but I really liked how she turned all humans basically into hosts and has the ultimate revenge, didn't expected that. This is actually the first thing I like about the show since a very long time. Tho I think the idea with the flys and the parasite is quite rubbish, surely there was another way like something like a nanobots-virus or some, then again it wouldn't have been that creepy like the flys oh well. She basically fulfilled Seracs wettest wet dream. She also complains alot about how bad the humans treated her and her kind but then she has her own parks now and does the same to the hosts there, make it make sense.. The Caleb and Maeve timeline always felt fishy to me but that she turned him into a host tf.. Why does she even do that, like is she that bored? Does she get off to it? Is there some other plan behind it? Whatever.. And does all this means that Dolores/Chrissy is in a simulation and writing plots for the host-humans..? Or is she in the real world in the present and writing plots for the host-humans ..? Or is she in the past and.. Or is she a super-super AI now since she kinda fused with Rehaboam, did they find a way to save and control her so she can control everyone else..? Or ugh I don't know I don't care.. The golden age park gave "The Thirteenth Floor" vibes, that was a great movie, can't say the same about this show since season 3.
Finally they found the beach, even tho I don't understand why they took so long. Shit is more lit than the eiffel tower at night. But why did they have this big ass gathering and speech before the games. I mean doesn't they have to play every day..? And why are they taking them in so easly when this is supposed to be a secret community, and even offering Arisu a executive seat, I really don't see why he deserves it.. Again alot of whys.. I'm not yet convinced that the solution is to have all cards, but surely it will lead to somewhere.. But in this regard, shouldn't they have already multiple decks of cards - besides the ones which never appeared - I mean they have like 24 teams every night, so this doesn't make sense to me.. The hunting the animals game wasn't much fun, turning wild cats into jokes, and we had already the panther in the awful 4th episode. Killing the eagle should have highest point shouldn't it, I mean shoting one of these at night must be quite a challenge, on top of it theres no sniper..
So far every episode has it flaws and I can't say I'm over enjoying this. But it's ok the premise still works and we have a new big setup for the final phase of the first season.
Off course our fav couple in the middle of staying undetected and surviving needs to have a.. dance.
Apparently a few spoons of food and a lil bit of water and lots of alcohol is all ppl need in this show to stay healthy and all fit for days.
My guy goin around the town asking for a american kid and showing everyone his wanted poster with the 50k reward on it, not thinking about that they might look themselfes for him, surely a criminal would exactly ask around like this.
So like the super smart businessman who made a multi-millionare out of nothing is so stupid to put gold in worth of 400mil in a super obvious big ass safe in the middle of the lobby AND with no cctv on it and no guards in the house. Also why didn't the alarm went off when John went to the house the first time? Might have a special feature going only off every second time someone tries to break in........
Sarah said to the SBI/Police that her brother killed the sheriff and her father is lieing about everythin, so Ward told them shes bipolar and needs medication.. Shouldn't someone follow this? Ask for some fuckin documentation, ask doctors and shit? Because obv its decisive if shes is a credible witness or not.. I mean they were already questioning him, so they might suspect something..
I'm not even goin into how stupid John was in this episode.
Pretty sure abit of water on the phone wouldn't cause this glitches on the videocall, also most phones these days are water-proof and you can totally expect security guards to have one of those..
..cause in this show a video camera from the analog era doesn't give a shit being used full on in HEAVY RAIN!, but yea the guards phone did jus go kch kch. Also, pretty sure the rain wouldn't cause the video tape to be completely destroyed if at all.. And for someone who is the smartest in the gang Pope should at least think of checkin the fuckin tape.
And Kie too, for someone apparently also being smart she is surely doing unbelievable stupid things in this episode. Seriouly in what universe would you shout at the killer in this situation?
On Johns side, this whole thing could've been the easiest heist in tv show history, if the bum acted a lil bit smarter, though then again I wouldn't have anything to complain about so..
And man for someone who doesn't want to kill anyone Ward surely kills alot of ppl.
Also father and son really thought this is a legit road block after they jus got attacked AND after they had a break in
_
I'm really losin my faith in humanity, this episode has even on imdb a solid 7.7
