Something like this comment was originally a reply to @Pedro, but I thought I'd put it here.
This show starts a little slow. It does that thing where the first few episodes are your typical boring cop procedural to show the network they know how to paint by numbers. Then it picks up.
It starts actually exploring the morals of mass surveillance, and (minor spoilers) it turns out the Machine is an AI, and they deal with all the interesting ramifications of living in a world secretly run by a benevolent(?) AI. One of the nice aspects of this show is the only fictional element of the Machine is software. Makes for a very grounded science fiction.
The characters start to deal with total corruption of the police system and attempt to take it down, meanwhile learning and redeeming themselves from their dubious past.
They also deal with taking down organised crime, and what to do when someone tries to consolidate power within the families, even though the new boss is less violent.
They get caught up in vast government conspiracies waging massive secret intelligence wars, and must stop innocent people from getting killed while remaining hidden from powerful people.
Heartbreak, romance, homoerotic sexual tension, SciFi, shooting people, explosions!
They stop making another cop show and start making some really compelling television.
just give elsa a girlfriend already
With every episode I wonder "how in the world can they top that?" And yet with each new episode, I am blown away by how amazing it is. There are no low points in this show. Each episode builds beautifully off of the previous one.
Series Guide says I've watched over 50 days of TV shows and yet this is still my favorite. It's such a geniusly made show.
Having past events pressure down on Homelander, to his increasingly strained psyche, makes for the strongest start of a season yet. Starr's terrifyingly cracked performance over the course of these two episodes is something else.
How can there be 7 votes giving it 36% now in 2016, when the movie is due in 2017???
With reviews like “anti-entertaining”, I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised! Granted it isn’t anything new but it’s run-of-the-mill fare done well. Supremely watchable. Ties into the larger DCEU including Peacemaker in believable fashion. The only part I was sad about was the death of a very interesting character so soon after their introduction. Hope they are brought back in some form later.
I could gush about this for a long time but I'll keep it short -- it's fantastic. This is going to be a word of mouth hit because there's no one who leaves it who won't want to get other people to see it.
So this is basically Guardians of The Galaxy, with a robot instead of Groot, a kid instead of raccoon, and the girl is not green. 8 Starlords out of 10.
So Bobby Singer is still Bob Singer ;) awesome. Dean and Bobby on the Boys.
Received an invitation to the premiere, and as you guessed, it had very typical superhero tropes. I don't really mind it and kinda dig the light-heartedness. The storyline isn't groundbreaking but the slapstick humor here and there makes it a fun watch. I'm glad I went, it was a great choice to unwind on a midweek evening.
Based on the play with the same name, The Whale is such an impactful piece. I found myself so heartbroken watching how the main character Charlie, played by Brendan Fraser, deals with his depression and life regrets. Speaking of Brendan Fraser, such a sweet soul and he played the role beautifully. I was able to go to an opening night Q&A with him speaking. My favorite part was hearing how they wanted to make Charlie look human despite how you may see other movies with actors in "fat suits". This movie also has no small roles. Sadie Sink and Hong Chau as supporting actresses uplifted the turmoil that one man’s suffering can ripple to the people around you. Definitely adding this movie to my list of favorite Darren Aronofsky films.
Can already tell people are gonna hate on this episode since they don't like Iris. But all I have to say is Run, Iris, Run!
Looks like a slow burn TV show. So far, I feel it's a good pace and hopefully will dive into the backstory of both characters. There is certainly chemistry between the two leads. I'm looking forward to the impending conflict between the master and his apprentice.
There's been a lot of Supernatural seasons lately that I've found to be boring. I used to love it for its comedy and pop-culture references, and it has since been diluted to melodramatic episodes that are touch and go. This season held an overall plot that I stood behind - I loved how it began and how it ended and a few select episodes in between. Even when I took a break from the season, months before returning, I remembered what it was about, which tells me it was memorable...and in my opinion, one of the better seasons. The cliffhanger at the end wasn't really that strong, but it was interesting, to say the least.
Jane, please put us out of our misery and move in with Maura, haha. You're there in the morning - eating breakfast & washing dishes; you're there are night - drinking beer & sleeping over. When was the last time we saw Jane's place? Lol #Rizzles
I got exactly what I wanted, a fun, action & craziness filled film that has the core DNA of the original TV Series!
"The A-Team" is worth seeing just to watch Liam Neeson as Hannibal and Bradley Cooper as Face. There's a lot of waaaaaaay over-the-top action aided by a ton of CG effects. The story is asinine but I expected that going in. The finale was a mess but again, not a surprise.
If you are looking for a lot of eye-rolling action and a ridiculous story that'll make you chuckle, you could do worse.
Krypton is one of the best origin superhero tv shows right now. It's great for anyone who wants to know more about Krypton and in great details too. Cast is on point, visuals are pleasing, characters feel actually more human, no one is invulnerable and the stakes seem always real.
With all of that being said, is it season 3 already?
It is my opinion this show has so far got it right by ANNE RICE!!
Luke Cage Season2 manages to handle multiple storylines gracefully but burdened with interminable 13 episodes with the first half trying to foist the idea of Heroes for Hire with some unconvincingly shifting alliances.Someone who liked season 1 will probably like this one too. The only fun episodes were the last four where plot seemed pacy in comparison to the preceding ones. The best episode was the one where Iron Fist shows up whose prime motive was to appease fans.
