This was such an excellent episode!
It was most definitely a deep and expansive foundational narrative for the whole saga. The nuances, the meaning, spiritual significance, and subtleties I fear of certain acts of this episode are lost to the viewer.
I would imagine the significance would only reveal itself to those that have read Clavell's book prior to watching this amazingly crafted miniseries.
My hope is more of Clavell's Asian Saga is made with the same detail and love that Shōgun is clearly made and acted.
My further wish is this beautifully crafted series challenges others to put their heart and soul into future movies/series that rivals the quality we have in this miniseries. While at the same time putting the sword to the trash we've had to endure as quality entertainment enthusiasts seeking our next love, and yet being disappointed time and time again.
I'm convinced none of you know what 'filler' actually means, this episode was a banger, not the best episode but a certified banger still. Got context for Lady Ochiba, more romance between Blackthorne & Mariko (their chemistry is actually very strong), more behind the scenes politics with the council and a great set up for 'Crimson Sky'. Another great episode!
Overall, I am satisfied with the series, although Will(s) brain now being "lost in space" is kind of a bummer. Sophon rubbing it in with, "I would have liked to have met Will", was just salt in the wound, especially since I have a feeling they could have saved him if they really wanted to. Saul is slow on the uptake because he's lost in a weed haze, which, just as IRL, is slowing down his synapsis and dulling his senses, taking the edge off of his critical reasoning faculties. Looks like Tatiana leveled up from AAA 2 bit assassin to AA, or maybe even the majors now that she has her own headset to jack in with. Clarence wrapped things up nicely with his bug analogy. try as hard as we do and, bugs are still around pestering us and giving the ick. Look forward to the next series.
Disappointed with the confrontation between Ye Wenjie and the Red Guard. It makes Ye's subsequent action look like personal vendetta. Otherwise it's a great episode.
Cast's on point, scientific jargon used a little randomly as a look-how-smart-they-are, but rhythm is good, different temporal levels mix well... gets you hooked - worth continuing
As every good thing has an end, we have come to the end of this beautiful series. The guys did an excellent job. It is one of the rare TV series that I watch without interruption and without getting bored. I haven't seen anything better among science fiction. It was an amazing season and the series has barely started. See you in 2025, thank you for your efforts.
5 out of 10 episodes done and they were all fantastic. Really special show so far.
What an amazing ending to a beautiful tv show.
The background score for this episode was just fantabulous.
Loved how they ended it. Absolutely amazing.
10/10
I played all the Halo games in my youth. To be frank, I always wondered how you could make a show off a game like this.
I remember when they made the doom movie and how poorly it was received. I was truly worried about this one.
My worries and concerns have been relieved. The way the characters are developed makes so much sense, as in Halo Chief was the man, especially with me playing. For them to introduce that he has layers and why people depended on him is significant. I just hate waiting for the next episode. I could totally run through a season in one sitting.
Huge Episode!
Explosive and side splitting throughout.
A lot of political gaming going on and some laugh out loud moments. I wasn't expecting that at all but funny nonetheless.
I get more excited and eager for each episode as we progress. A brilliant show.
The subtitles are the only thing that detracts from really enjoying the acting and the spectacle. But there is no other way, as dubbing to English would be a much bigger disappointment and cheapen the quality of this series.
What is more enticing is Shōgun will get better as the mini-series progresses. Truly a brilliantly made and acted show.
Great episode. The mystery keeps on getting more mysterious and we have not gotten any real answers for now. But I’m still very intrigued by the storyline and I also love the Scandinavian setting.
What an amazing show... beautifully shot, costumes and props are amazing, and the Cast - - Wow, you can tell they are putting their craft into top gear.
Anna Sawai is excelling in this role... she is far more engaged than in 'Monarch Legacy...'.
If you aren't watching this yet, what the hell are you waiting for?!
this show is so fucking good been a while since i watched a show this good
Absolutely outstanding, while I really liked the characters in episodes 1 & 2 i felt like this was the episode that made me fall in love with the majority of them, while also getting more attached to the actual plot. Music, action, acting, cinematography and special moments like the final scene there make this episode a 10/10 for me. Incredible stuff!
Film 108 (Goal: 300) of 2024
I've loved Adam Sandlers more serious fare, whether it be the recent Hustle, Uncut Gems, Reign Over Me, Punch Drunk Love, etc. And it feels like after a decade of near garbage releases through the NETFLIX deal, that Sandler is focusing on more serious fare. So I was very interested in Spaceman, a project I admittedly only knew about a few weeks before release onto the streaming platform. I didn't know much about the film, other than the title and the actor.
But Spaceman doesn't work for me. I really wanted it to but, and I'm deliberately not saying much but there's a pivotal moment early into the film, and if you don't buy in, I don't think you'll be able to enjoy the film. In case it wasn't obvious, that was me, I couldn't buy into this plot addition. I've seen some out there things in films and I think it comes down to direction and set-up as to how well you as a viewer will accept it. From that point on, the film was a struggle.
Another pivotal part of the film is the story of a failing marriage between Sandler's Jakub and Carey Mulligan's Lenka. It's essentially the underlying narrative from start to finish. And even though we are giving plenty of time to focus on their romance, I did not care. I don't know exactly what didn't work, maybe I needed some time together prior to the space flight happening, maybe I just don't care for Carey Mulligan. I say this every time he does serious fare but Sandler is good. Now this is no Uncut Gems or anything, but a lot of the film is anchored on Sandler's performance, and he's able to convey a lot as his character goes on a journey. This film doesn't come close to the rating I get without his performance.
Spaceman is an ultimately disappointing 2024 release that will likely be forgotten within weeks. Some will love it, others not so much. Which way you fall will likely depend on how much you accept the 2nd character onboard the space station. For some, that may just be a deal breaker.
Mixed emotions on this movie. On one hand, Adam Sandler isn’t actually playing his singular and tired old role and he does OK with it. This is not a stellar performance, by any stretch, but it’s good for Adam Sandler.
The movie is very “out there” and the movie moves pretty slow. I’m a big sci-fi nerd and appreciate the visual effects and some of the science, but it’s obvious that he’s losing his bloody mind with that enormous spider that appears just as it’s obviously he is losing his mind.
I’m glad I watched it but doubt I’ll ever watch it again.
Where you go, I go. Right Spaceman?
I really, really wanted to like this one. It pushes all my buttons as far as aesthetic and underlying subtext is concerned, but it just never feels complete in its delivery. Mumblecore stretched to its absolute limit, but with a surprisingly shallow subplot when all is revealed; a shame because it had all the hallmarks of a new favourite for me.
What can I say that I haven't already said about this show ? Every new episode grabs me like none do today. I have a lump in my throat everytime the end credits start to roll.
They made the right choice by not showing us extended action scenes at this point. We already covered that, we know what it's like up in the air. I found it very gripping to see what happened on base, with the new arrivals, when the planes come back, and what the pilots think about it at this point in time. It makes me shiver but it althought gives depth and scope.
This was a crucial time during the war. When the Mustang appeard the Luftwaffe's days were numbered. But like it's shown here it also meant a shift in strategy.
I have no doubt the final episodes will be great.
She’s in the wrong universe, isn’t she? Either way, this is definitely my type of mystery.
I am thoroughly enjoying this. Great fun.
It was a great start after 2 episodes. Can't wait for the rest.
Hopefully the Portuguese characters aren't well represented
The real continuation of the Walking Dead right here. I suffered through some shiz to get this far, and it paid off.
Without a single flying scene this is still one of the best of the series. Because it takes you on a personal level with the characters. There is stark contrast between the pilot recreation and what happened simulatiously in Germany. But that makes each even stand out more.
I will never claim to understand what these men went through. The pressure they were subjected to, physically and mentally, was immense. Just like with BoB I think it's important to show us why they endured it and how.
The show delivers it's message without poking your nose in it. And that's a rareity today.
The beauty of "Masters of the Air" lies in the way it humanizes these soldiers, allowing us to see them not just as warriors, but as individuals with their own unique stories, struggles, and emotions.
The breakup was just lazy writing . They didn't have any scope for her character so they ended it this way.
Wow, just Wow, what a visual effect. Great story, Great play.
