It's as if Anderson, Kubrick and Burton (with a little bit of Tarantino) all were inspired by a Mary Shelly novel.
Thus, it transports you into a fantastical world with all these elements at play.
An amazing achievement in cinema!
Truly a remarkable movie and a stunning achievement in film history. What a feast for the eyes!
Some of the most amazing footage I have ever seen. A Christmas no Romanian will ever forget!
It's infuriating to know that the American government is probably the most hypocritical government ever!
Genius... absolute genius!
This review has to be at least 5+ words. Well, it is now.
Yep, I already knew that this is one crazy f'd up world but watching this makes it all the more horrifying!
Marisela was one tough passionate lady! I feel for all the other mothers and their families who have had a relative killed in similar circumstances in Mexico.
If this is a video of the first beer being sipped, then cheers to that!
Truly astonishing filmmaking here!! I haven't felt like this whilst watching a movie in quite some time. I don't really want to give anything away, so just go watch it for yourself if you haven't already.
A brilliant documentary in all respects. I don't want to get into the politics that is discussed but I truly feel for all of the victims of this horrendous atrocity! Being a huge fan of Celtic FC there is also a small part of this film that made me very proud.
Absolutely diabolical!
I actually yelled that out at one point.
Spike Lee watching this and saying "F#ck, I wish I made this movie!"
In all seriousness, the ending sent shivers down my spine.
This just screams out how f*cked up America has a hard on for the military. Ever since 9/11 (and even before with Vietnam et al) it seems like fighting for your country is a "must" The land of the free and "this is the best country ever" bravado has always pissed me off! There are plenty of other countries where "we" are free, Most Americans don't think or even care that there are any other types of opinions out there.
I love that this movie tackled loads of hard to talk about subjects that are going on around right now from PTSD to the oxy epidemic.
Check out the George Carlin stand up from how shell shock evolved into the term PTSD. It's hilarious! That man is a legend.
Ultimately what I loved most about this movie is that it is such a well-done anti-war movie. In actuality all war movies are anti-war even if they try not to be.
If you don't like this anti-American rant then just to let you know I've lived here since I was five years old... so I was raised American,
The best thing for people to do in my opinion is to get out there and experience different cultures. In essence we are all the same. I've have so much fun with people from all types of backgrounds and countries getting drunk or what have you. Yeah, I'm kinda drunk now which is probably why I'm on this review kick!
Anyway, I loved this f'n movie and if you think otherwise I hope you find another anti-war movie that touches you!
War sucks and then you die. hahaha
I watched 'Living' last night, which is the remake of this movie. It was good but nowhere near as good as Ikiru. My goodness is this such a superior movie! So much more depth and feeling to the main characters. Also, the story just flows much better and has more of a purpose to it. Kurosawa at his best and that means a lot!
Excellent little discussion at the end about the future role that the media will play in similar circumstances.
More power to the people of the Bamyan!
Since the pandemic one of the most important and passionate things about my life has gone missing, going to see bands. Compared to Dennis and Lois my love pales in comparison. My heart goes out to them!
This is an astonishing story about Ralph Plaisted and three other companions that made it to the North Pole "first!" If you look at his Wikipedia page it is stated that "most polar authorities" regard Ralph Plaisted and his companions as the first people ever to get to the North Pole by traversing on snow and ice.
With Ralph not being on good terms with The National Geographic Society this story has been hidden from the public and it is very hard to find on the internet.
Watch this documentary and check out the Wikipedia page found here.

I am now the first person on Letterboxd to have seen First to the Top of the World. ;-)
Quite possibly the most shocking movie ever made. Powerful stuff!
WWII brought out some of the worst things human beings can do to each other. Genocide like this still happens to this day. Not happy to be human after watching this, thus I could not rate it 5 stars.
Yes, we are all human! Nobody is perfect. If these tapes come out in 2027 they will not dampen MLK's legacy for civil rights in my eyes.
On the accusation of King raping someone? FBI spies saying they could see his expressions or mannerism are impossible and were obviously pressured to get damning results for Hoover.
This is scarier than any horror movie!! Real life serious stuff! I wish people could just come together in peace but it obviously will never happen.
"You cannot describe music, it needs to be listened to."
Ennio Morricone
So, this past month I was in Scotland visiting my Dad. One night when we came back from his local pub we stuck on the telly and the documentary 'Uncut Friedkin' happened to be on. We caught what must have been the last half of the documentary and the part about Friedkin directing 'Sorcerer' came up. Dad said that he loved that movie. After seeing what it was about, I recalled that 'Sorcerer' was almost exactly like one of my favorite movies called 'Wages of Fear'.
Turns out that 'Sorcerer' is the remake. Dad never saw 'Wages of Fear' so I highly recommended it to him. In return, he highly recommended this.
Amazing that I never heard of this movie before!
Now, 'Wages of Fear' and 'Sorcerer' are both favorite movies of mine.
By the way 'Uncut Friedkin' is a great watch too even though I only saw that last half.
Interesting watch to say the least! I always thought this was strictly a horror movie, but it actually is a docudrama. Kinda cool, I watched this for the first time on its centenary.
One of the best endings in film history!
I noticed an easter egg near the end of the movie.

Cool!
It is a blight on humankind that we had to create this word genocide!
Wow, Saif really made my skin crawl! I hope he gets everything that is coming to him.
I'm glad I didn't know what this was about before I watched it. I think that made it more enjoyable.
It felt good to be watching this now that he is out of office!
