There are movies, and there are films. This episode was a film. It was art. It was beautiful colors and images and music that didn’t need to be spoiled by too much dialogue. I recognize that, for many viewers, they could watch an episode like this and think “well, nothing HAPPENED” but I feel like I learned so much from this episode that has helped me appreciate and understand Carmy better.
I think the way the show has handled mental health has been spectacular as well. As someone who also has been shaped by trauma and finds it constantly popping up, often for the worse, I truly appreciate that the show has spent the time to make Carmy so complex and not just brush over the hard things.
How does this at all related to the high republic period, we see nothing apart from these witches and stuff, so boring, the chanting part was like some musical, so cringe. Also witches supposed to use magic, not force, this is all wrong.
Good job making Jedi look evil and witches sweet & peaceful, what the actual f? Jedi never took away children without parents consent. Also kids are already too old, why would even Jedi test them, they are not supposed to be eligible at this age, why even bother?
So it was the Jedi who raided the place and burned it to the ground to kidnap the kids hence the guilt is it? What the f? Osha is super traumatized, conflicted, old, and too attached, 10 times worse than Anakin, why go this much effort for those boring twins? ZERO sense
Wookiee Jedi was the only good thing in this whole episode.
“It’s Orwellian.”
“What, it’s dystopian butter?”
CW caliber acting/writing. Stargate SG-1 caliber sets. Comic-con caliber make-up/costuming.
...and some of the dumbest Jedi ever...
Disney have yet again slopped out another 30 minutes of nothing much happening, for a budget of $1million per minute.
So disappointing. My expectations were already rock bottom. Bad acting, bad dialogue, predictable story, boring characters. Some of the costumes looked like comic con outfits. Couldn't even get the Neimoidian voices right. It genuinely felt like I was watching a Doctor Who episode at some points (and not a good one). Star Wars is officially dead and Disney killed it.
This episode, in particular, has the weakest writing and dialogue so far. It's just bad in my opinion. Very, very bad.
We've had too much Faks this season and that's not working for me. The scene with John Cena went on too long when the initial joke wasn’t funny.
Felt like watching some Space witches show on the syfy channel. Terrible..
“I wanna make music that lasts longer than my life.” meanwhile, it's just a weird moaning version of her already dumb pop song.
The dialogue is quite immature at times.
I think a huge problem with this show is that The Weeknd has no sex appeal and can’t sell the darkness that this character needs. He is also not a super convincing actor or character so it takes you out of the scene. I burst into laughter when Tedros started his dirty talk, it was that bad.
That was hard to watch
Poison guy Jason Mendonsa totally gave it way he is smilo ren with all those on nose scene where he acts like "I am definitely not your master under desguise watching you to see if you are gonna follow my crazy orders". And of course Mae has a sudden change of character right in front of him because she read on the script that this was the best moment to generate some "muh sister" thug on the heartstrings drama. And of course he went ahead and murdered the Wookie himself off screen to prevent the show from spending additional one million dollars to make a Wookie fight like a Jedi, frame Mae so she keeps the plot from a dead stop and enters the scene to provide both a cliffhanger and a trailer scene.
Smilo Ren is trying to carry this show using no weapons.
Very underwhelming and disappointing pilot episode.
What is this? Marvel's The Hills? It's like Jessica Gao totally ignored who her audience is. The character She-Hulk deserved so much more than to be pictured as a Green Kardashian.
the quality of star wars shows is getting worse with every new show. they are going for quantity. silly writing, mediocre sequences, and weak storylines.
I was totally hyped when I saw a new star wars serie was aired. But what a downer! I couldn't even finish the episode. It was that bad! The acting was excruciatingly bad! It felt more like I was watching a fanmade show! I thought the latest expendables movie was bad, but this was even worse!
I hate all the "cute kid talking like an adult but acting annoyingly" stuff. I hope she won't be a big part of the rest of the season.
Seeing Josh Hartnett come out of that door was such a great surprise! I like the little detail how Frank has painted fingernails during his talk with Richie. It's such a subtle way to show that he is engaged with Richie’s daughter.
Richie bonding with his daughter was cute, and he’s being so mature and levelheaded about Tiff marrying Frank.
Another absolute garbage episode. What a waste of time.
Started off strong with dredd/blade runner vibes but quickly fell apart when she went into that casino and just got worse after that. Really wish they would bring in new characters instead of constantly recycling old characters.
Are we really suppose to believe this fine dining restaurant still has a sandwich window?
The point of this whole show is to fulfill Leslie's fantasy of lesbians being able to impregnate lesbians without the need of disgusting men. That's why it's so full of plot holes and crazy stuff like campfires on the hull of ships in the vacuum of space being put down by spraying CO2 (which functions by depriving the fire from oxygen, which is absurd in space) and Jedi killing themselves by poison that go through force barriers after being meditating nonstop for years, never occurring to him the idea of suicide until the protagonist/villain suggests it, and assassins boasting about Jedi drawing lightsabers only to kill while the next scene they use it as flashlights, or assassins boasting about the only way to kill Jedi is by not using weapons, cause "lasers" and steel don't work, right after a Jedi being killed by a STEEL WEAPON, etc, etc, etc...
None of that matter to Leslie and are just distractions that only nerds care about, all she really cares for is her RPG campaign where lesbians can make babies without the help of men.
It all makes sense through this lens.
Once again, nothing really happens, the story never seems to progress.
Finally we get a wookie Jedi in live action and they do nothing with the character but have them stand around. wtf!! There better be more flashbacks with this character. What utter dissapointment
Did I really just watched a FILLER episode in 2024 as third episode of show with 180M budget?
Whoever came up with this idea to expand flashback which said everything necessary in first episode into whole 40 minutes should go and write podcast scrip instead of science fiction.
Little girl just ended whole civilization of force sensitive witches by one tiped over candle.
