A sad parody of its former self, putting all their chips into shock value, hype, and meta culture. Sad to see it's already devolving without any self awareness faster than The Boys did.
Core aspects of this show (writing, animation, direction, pacing, scope) really plummeted this season. The only consistency was the voice acting and visual design.
Not only does it feel like it morphed into hollow content between seasons, whats worse is that it feels like a complete waste of time now.
I'm so concerned, nothing at all keeps happening episode per episode.
I really wonder what the whole plan was with this season. It looks like they had some specific story in mind, recorded everything. Probably some scenes were not done yet during the whole writers and actors strikes
And then in post-editing someone totally re-wrote the story.
There are loads of flashbacks or supporting scenes that seem to be more about native americans and their roots and customs as a sort of documentary, which in some ways is better developed than the main story itself.
Frankly I dont like the Maya character. I dont like several of the other characters either. And a lot of what we see just doesnt make sense.
You dont go driving hundred of kilometers/miles with a bullet still stuck in your chest.
Maya her endless frowning / angry face gets old quickly. I found myself fast-forwarding most of episode 2. Then I was wondering why I was even bothering with this.
Starts off strong, bonus points for getting Marcia, loses the plot after the original trilogy material, I'm no prequel fan (seen them more times than I'd like because of my kids) but ends up feeling like how George lost the plot then has a line "oh by the way everything he did is now the way everyone does it" as if to make up for the pessimism then throws Marcia back in the loop when she'd been gone twenty years. Worth a watch but I enjoyed the recent Light and Magic better.
After a somewhat disappointing 3rd and 4th season I wasn't sure if WWDITS would be able to capture the magic of the first two seasons but after the latest episode, Local News I'm glad to say it has.
5 episodes in on Season 3 and it's.... incredibly mediocre so far. The writing and the fights have taken a big hit on quality.
What a mess … feels like they had all these loose ends to tie up so they squeezed it all in. The season doesn't make sense at all, and only finds humour occasionally.
