Blackberry is interesting enough and the performances are great. However, the narrative felt rushed and I wanted to explore more of the gaps and characters. I hate to say this, but this film might have been better as a miniseries.
I wanted to like this movie. The Witch and the Wardrobe was great, Prince Caspian not so much, but Voyage of the Dawn Treader was probably the last Narnia I'll ever watch.. The special effects are awesome, the creatures they run into are great and the whole concept of hopping from island to island to discover virtues and sins to help the kids grow up is great. Unfortunately I found the execution incredibly weak.
They tried to put too much content in the movie, so I ended up catching glimpses of fascinating places, persons and stories, but never got a chance to really get into the story. It felt like a 90-minute teaser for upcoming Narnia-movies, which would be great if they would actually expand upon it in later sequels, but I'm afraid they won't..
I guess I'll pick up the books to experience the story via a better suited medium.
Well, rather boring! I still only like the 1st Narnian movie and think the others, like the books, are quite crappy!
Despite its great performances and excellent special effects the movie fails in its plot which is chaotic. It feels like they wanted to present as many things as possible but didn't know how to do it in a consistent way, resulting in a poorly executed movie. The story is not thrilling because it is all over the place.
Another Narnia sequel that will keep your attention but isn’t as memorable as the first film.
I had to see this to finish off the trilogy and it's the worst one.
My favourite book of the series but the film just did not do it justice. The return of the White Witch (again, even though she doesn't appear in either Prince Caspian or The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) was just a sign of how little faith the company has in the series. Cast were fantastic just written out of character. Hopefully Andrew Adamson returns in some capacity to guide the series back on track.
Rewatching this after well over a decade, the CG holds up quite well from 2005, but something just stuck out while revisiting this Disney film. It seemed like that Disney was trying to score big in the Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings crowd with Chronicles of Narnia, but failed. Kind of how studios tried capitalizing on the YA market again after the Twilight and Hunger Games boom.
Still one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it in cinemas as a teen and loved it immediately. It's so magical and hopeful and Tilda Swinton is just brilliant ad Jadis.
I have never read the books by C.S. Lewis before, but this is still an excellent film that tells the story beautifully. It takes us on an emotional journey. Some parts were upsetting, some parts were hilarious, while some parts genuinely had me terrified... (I didn't know if the beavers would die or not.)
Some characters however were quite annoying, especially Susan, who played the 'realist'. I think it was intentional, but nevertheless, she got on my wick, as realists usually do, and for that, I have to knock off marks. Also my favourite character, Mr Tumnus was frozen throughout most of it, which was quite upsetting. That wasn't the filmmakers fault, as Mr Lewis probably wrote that in his book. But it is still rather sad, as I quite liked him, yet he only had a small part. All in all, I definitely recommend it, especially to those who are fans of fantasy. But it's definitely not my personal favourite.
So I assume that Antoine and Denzel had decided to make a drama and the they had to cram in some action to please the studio.
Think of The American with Clooney and how it had nearly no action and is a really European dramatic slow-paced film... This is 50% closer to that than a Hollywood effort.
But it's not something bad - as the story is actually quite nice. Seeing him ingratiate to a community and we get a whole host of supporting cast to learn. It's just a shame that they are all little more than stereotypes.
I can't remember a single second of the 2nd film... And little of the 1st... But this might be one I remember more as it had some pathos.
I enjoyed the first Equalizer movie with Denzel Washington, the second one a bit less. But neither of them really stuck in my memory. Perhaps that will change with the conclusion of this under-the-radar trilogy; it's quite good. The wheel isn't reinvented here, but Denzel remains a sympathetic leading man; the mood is atmospheric due to the beautiful scenery in Italy; and the villains are one-dimensional but effective. You shouldn't expect an action movie, though; it's more of a drama/thriller with some enjoyable spikes of violence. There is a bit of time for humor as well, and the "Man in Fire" reunion of Washington and Dakota Fanning also made me smile. All in all, "The Equalizer 3" is gripping as well as entertaining, and thus good enough for a fun evening at the movies.
Dark and brutal. I enjoyed everything about this third installment of Denzils portryal Robert MacCall. It’s stripped right back to the brutal efficiency of a highly trained killer. I hope there is more.
It's been years since I watched this but still an excellent view for when you need some you time, a catchy pick me up, and some nostalgic songs to sing along to.
The first time I watched the movie, I didn't noticed that he is blind. But when you rewatch it, you can see all the little hints for it. Really cool. But every Denzel movie is cool ^_^
Me growing up:
FXX: “We have movies.”
Also FXX: “MRR AND MRRRS SMITH BACK TO BACK WEEKEND AGAIN”
“ - Jane Smith: Any last words?
- John Smith: The new curtains are hideous.”
One of the best Wes Anderson movies I've ever seen. The story and pacing is perfectly good. It helps that it was 45mins. The other directors should take note of this. It isn't always mandatory to have your run time over 1.30hrs, you could wrap everything up in 45mins if you do it as well as Wes Anderson did.
9/10
[Netflix] Lupin without Lupin. An entertaining series that is based on a character whose modern version would have been interesting to discover. Instead, we have an Arsène Lupine impersonator (proper Omar Sy) who is, however, a more tormented character, with less spark than the original. The proposal is entertaining, although not very ingenious in the way of developing the story (entering the jail, the disguise ...). It achieves part of its goal, but more creative effort would have been interesting.
Very enjoyable and quite unexpected too. Hopefully season 2 will come sooner!
Pretty incredible show. Reminds me a lot of Sherlock Holmes. Highly recommended.
This movie is bad. It's so bad in fact that one could argue it's good. Me and my friend watched this movie and were laughing the whole time about how absurd the characters are behaving. Where there are million other options to solve a problem and the characters go into 'there's just no other way' mode.
For example, Keanu only had 3 tanks and 4 family members he wanted to clone. The movie went to this dramatic scene about how he needs to choose someone who will not be cloned. Turns out it was his daughter Zoe. Why don't you just clone Zoe right after you cloned the others? You now have 3 empty tanks. "There's no other way".
There are countless examples like this in the movie, where the script is forcing the characters to act in ways that defy logic just to push the story forward.
Too many plot holes, which make the movie impossible to enjoy. That's really sad to be honest, the concept is creative and interesting. I'd love to see that same story on a better executed movie one day. The acting was awful, not sure how a movie can be filled with so much shitty acting, definitely one of Keanu's worst performances. Not even gonna comment on Alice Eve.
I thought "how bad can it be?" and had hope they had watched and liked the anime as well. Well, obviously they did not. If you liked the anime, don't torture yourself by watching this.
amazing how awful this movie was, just amazing. There's a reason people pretend it doesn't exist
An entertaining movie with a bad ending. Not bad at all, it's just that a much-feared mind gets defeated so easily... And Foxx should take care of some details. It's fair an attorney can walk as a rapper but loses some credibility.
I hate it when the hero dies.
The fact that the main stream media is telling you not to watch this movie tells you everything you need to know — it's a must watch for everyone!
It's an objectively well made and well acted movie that I really enjoyed. The plot is well structured, fast paced, and dialog well written.
It has the moral imperative to end sex trafficking but it's not through heavy handed guilt tripping, but through telling a true story about a man who made personal sacrifices to do the right thing and courageously go into danger to be a genuine hero. I think anyone who has any sense of altruism will leave this movie inspired to take action against this truly heinous evil that is real and happening now. Go see this movie.
It's the art style and animation for me. Different from all the other Pixar inspired animated movies from the triple A productions out there. It's like this one has it's own identity, its own brand and feel.
In terms of the movie itself, its pretty different from the first one, but at the same time, tries to follow the rhythm the first movie set. The multiverse concept is picture perfect, the characters just class. 9.
Surprise! It's a 2 parter. Can't wait for part 2- "Beyond The Spiderverse" soon enough
