Easily the best Star Wars tv show, even after only 3 episodes. A Star Wars show that actually has nuance??!?
Having continued to watch weekly, here's just a bit of why it's so good: Dialogue that treats its audience as intelligent, writing and themes that actually address what Empire and Rebellion really mean, side characters who immediately make an impression even with limited screen time, incredible set design that feels real rather than CGI, spy thriller intensity bubbling underneath every scene, imbuing TIE fighters and stormtroopers with actual menace, new nuggets of interesting worldbuilding, emotional scenes between interesting characters, and some of the best set-pieces of Star Wars TV (episodes 3 & 6 in particular). It's Star Wars for adults, not in the sense of gore, violence, or sex, but in the sense of nuance, complexity, and weighty themes. It's astounding that Star Wars can be this good, especially since all their recent shows and films have been lackluster copies of past highs.
Art is subjective of course, you can like what you like, but these are just some of the reasons that this show is getting as much praise as it has been. I think Star Wars is a setting, a feeling, and it can sustain different types of genres and themes. It can be light-hearted action-adventure, and that's fine if that's what you want it to be, but this show proves that it can do other things. Star Wars can keep expanding into numerous different genres if it's done with the care and thought that this show has been given.
Some people are making a fuss that the timeline is confusing. Since this is the internet it gets blown out of proportion. You get a clear hint in one episode this is happening and its easy to figure it out afterwards. That being said, just watch it! It´s really good!
Unfairly compared to the wonderful 'Freaks and Geeks,' and criticised because of it, this series deserves to stands on its own. Funny, heartfelt, sweet and moving, this portrays real feelings amongst a group of high school kids in a mostly unsentimental way. Looking forward to the next season.
Hooooooooooow is this show not more popular? Why did I have to find out about it by chance? So far, 3 episodes in, it's fantastic fun and pretty well animated. The fact that the plot spans over the whole first season or even whole show makes it all the more interesting, love those Babylon 5 esque space operas! ;)
No, but really, good stuff and I sincerely hope that enough ppl watch it so that we get more than one season at least.
Wow, this is excellent. Might be the best Star Wars show yet.
I'm blown away by the cinematography and production design of this show. I won't comment on the storyline because we're too early in to say, but so far, so good.
Having just finished re-watching it 7 years later, I'm impressed that the show has aged so well. This is a family drama that revolves around the lives of a few people, especially the Brown family.
The Browns are a family just in name. Andy used to be a famous neurosurgeon in NY and sacrificed his family life in order to further his career. Their moving to Everwood is a desperate attempt to fulfill one last promise he made to his late wife Julia, who had kept them together up until now. He's a stranger to his children and vice-versa, and her wish was for him to mend that.
As if the Browns didn't have enough problems of their own, moving to a new town adds many more that they'll have to deal with as they start getting to know the townspeople, especially the Abbotts, whose patriarch Harold is the town's family doctor.
It's not all lost though as the Browns also get to meet people that are eager to get to know them and even help. That's especially true for their new neighbor Nina, with whom Andy can relate to since she has to deal with her son all by herself.
It's hard trying to explain what Everwood is about because the writting is so good and it deals with such a wide range of subjects in such a sensitive and down-to-earth manner that no description seem to do it justice. A real must-see if you like the genre.
Excellent series. Fantastic production value and some awesome soundtrack with some superb actors. Just finished Season 2 today and it's one of my favourites. Can't wait for Season 3!
That soundtrack? 10/10, easy! Would watch for that alone, but also really into Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle so far.
This is a great series. One of the best of their kind. Especially, because the characters are actually talking about their issues, they fuck up, they apologise. It's not like in most teen series where I always think that most of the drama could've been avoided if people talked to each other instead of just assuming.
It's a really heartwarming show. I hope there's going to be a second season.
I've been looking forward to this since the first announcement and I was super excited. I really took my time with it and I only watched 1 episode per night and even skipped a few nights. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Sigourney Weaver is one of my all time favourite actresses and I was over the moon to see her in my favourite universe. I REALLY love Daredevil, Jessica Jones and enjoyed Luke Cage. But Iron Fist just isn't my favourite character, I just don't find him interesting when he's standing next to these super dynamic characters. Don't get me wrong, I love Finn Jones and I think he does an amazing job with portraying Danny, it's just the character and his whole entitled vibe that I don't like.
Really enjoyed the rest of the season tho. Looking forward to watching The Punisher!
Very addicting, refreshing change from the usual paint-by-numbers police procedurals.
OMG! I'm addicted and in love with this show!! I can't stop binge watching it. Trying to catch up before the new season starts! It's an awesome police drama show that's close to home (literally!!). Plenty of action and chemistry between actors. Love it! Must watch for sure!!
