World Premiere Review:
Surprisingly good. I had a smile on my face throughout most of the movie and it's genuinely funny. The whole cast is spot on with Ewan hitting it out of the park. Having grown up with Winnie the Pooh, I definitely had an enhanced experience. Discounting for nostalgia, it goes from a 9 to an 8, only because the opening third is quite slow, but it's a very well made film. You believe the stuffed animals are living, breathing things...and you want to believe!
if you've ever wanted to see scarlett johansonn choke on a cake then this is the film for you
Not quite up to the usual Pixar standard.
The comedy and characters ultimately save the film.
It touches you in a way that only Pixar can, but it did so in quite a predictable way, I thought.
Moreover, it feels a bit slapped together, as if they’re making it up as they go along.
6/10
Once again, the actors doing impressions/playing against type is the best thing the film has going for it.
Jack Black stole the last movie, this time that award goes to Kevin Hart (first two acts) and Awkwafina (final third).
Having said that, the movie that's build around the impression comedy isn't as good, nor fun, as last time.
The story takes the T2 approach of making a sequel, i.e. switch the roles that everyone plays, and keep the story the same.
Unfortunately, the approach can't save the film from its own poor choices regarding the filmmaking.
The action in this is quite poor, to which some people will undoubtedly respond: well, it's supposed to be cheesy.
To be fair, I probably would've given a pass for it if there was an analog charm to it, but I just refuse to do that for lazy, digitized ugliness.
Moreover, the comedy isn't as sharp and witty as it was before.
Surprisingly, there's a lot of reliance on slapstick, which almost makes it feel like this was made for a younger demographic than the last one.
There's not a single scene that matches Karen Gillan's outstanding seduction scene from the previous film.
Also, there's a lot of expository dialogue that shouldn't be there.
Finally, the ending begs for comparisons to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom , which makes me go: out of anything you could've done, why on earth would you willingly choose to go there?
4.5/10
Ending could of told the audience more about the future of Cage. Great movie overall. Great acting by Tom Cruise and the storyline is surprisingly well put together for what it is.
I like it so far but why does Disney always short the episode time with 10 min of credits. Hate that.
This series is absolute nonsense from the beginning and it’s terrible written but I still watched the whole thing. I wonder how the devil himself can be fooled by teenagers SINGING ... worst scene ever haha terrible, really, but probably will keep watching the next seasons.
The new Winnie-the-Pooh film is just superb! I absolutely love it. When I first heard it was coming out, I was very apprehensive as a Pooh fan. Especially when the title "Christopher Robin" is too similar to the title of the biopic about A.A. Milne that came out last year, "Goodbye Christopher Robin".... I had a feeling that Disney might have just been jumping on the bandwagon, following the success of that film.
But even if they WERE jumping on the bandwagon, I'm pleased to say they have jumped on it beautifully. They have captured the characters exactly how they should be. The film is genuinely hilarious in parts, and certain moments had me laughing to the point where I didn't think I'd stop. They also had little touches of Milne's type of subtle, whimsical humour. There were emotional moments, and beautiful storytelling with deep meaning and messages throughout, just like the books.
It's difficult to predict how much the kids would enjoy it compared to the cartoons we’re so familiar with. I wonder if there were too many scenes of being an adult, and not enough scenes of playing in the forest. But I'm certain that there's a huge audience out there of grown up Winnie-the-Pooh fans, who aren’t really grown up at heart. (I can’t be the only one!) And for us, this film is perfect. I hope the kids enjoy it too.
I would absolutely love it if they do a live action version of the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories. Disney has already covered these books in the original cartoon series of features back in the ‘60s. However, I genuinely believe that if they find the right actor to play Christopher Robin as a young boy, then it would be brilliant. They would have to work really hard on capturing essence of the characters and the stories, and so there would be a lot of pressure. But this film proves that it can be done.
This film’s opening scene is based on the last story from “The House At Pooh Corner”. My only small criticism is that I don’t think they chose the right actor to play Christopher Robin as a boy. He was good, but he looked like he was acting. For me, he just didn’t play it realistic enough. I’m probably being too picky!
The boy who played Christopher Robin in last year’s film, Will Tilston, has set the standard high. But if someone could play him as well as he did, then a live action based on the original books would be perfect. I may well get in touch with Disney myself and suggest it.
So fucking enjoyable. Also never mind all the blood, guts and violence, that dude swallowing a tea bag was the grossest thing in the episode.
I'm completely hypnotized by and in love with this show.
In addition to being visually pleasing, with every detail, from costumes to scenery, carefully taken into consideration, it's also shaking us up on the inside. Its "between the lines" messages, and wonderful acting from the entire cast that delivers so many emotions in their facial expressions alone, are all sublime.
I find myself looking forward to weekends and waiting in anticipation for what is to come. Great job everyone, and much love. <3
There is same crazy stuff going on in this stupid movie. It has some style and is entertaining at times. I appreciate Daniel Radcliffe taking this wildly different roles.
Waaaaaay better than I expected. Slasher comedy fans wet dream. Roth nails the tone for this one expertly. Best kills I may have ever seen from an over the top standpoint. Perhaps 10-15 min shorter would have benefited pacing, but small gripe. Some silly choices here and there, but overall a solid 8.0. Happily surprised.
It certainly lacks Harmon's story telling, but I liked it, it's filled with Roiland's chaotic energy.
for me it's a weak starter episode. but we'll see. it's anthology so everything can happen.
Mum dies, wakes up next morning.... "okay anyway, off to make some friends" !
Unlike The Hollywood Reporter review for this, I don't lament that the movie wasn't sexual or violent enough (yes that's a sincere gripe for them, look it up)
With that ugliness dealt with, let me say that I enjoyed the film much more than I thought i would. It's respectful to the source material while updating and tweaking it just enough with a fish out of water tale that it's completely endearing. Just a fun kids adventure film.
Have now watched the whole series and it didn’t disappoint!!!!
The first 2 episodes are the best
Episode 4 just didn’t do it for me
But the series was brilliant and I hope we get more to follow......
Oh and make sure you do watch all of 1-7 and then sit back and glow in brilliance of episode 8
This was surprisingly good. It's a solid kids adventure movie with a few joking references to the show. Some of those jokes were the best parts of the movie. It's funny and silly seeing Boots and Swiper interacting with real people. Isabela Moner was really great and carried a lot of the movie with her charisma. Not something you have to see but if you are familiar with the show you might have a good time with this.
this had me hooked from the very first episode and it keeps getting better!!!
This movie in a sentence , "If Bollywood had a bigger budget."
(No offense, but there are way better movies you should be watching instead of whatever this was. Also, Bollywood does make some gems like Article 15, so don't crucify me please. Aight, wash your hands, stay indoors and watch smth better)
The conclusion wasn't entirely satisfying for me but I really enjoyed the suspense and the build up to that moment.
Latrice's runway look was sickning but that's it.
it's still an incognito who will be the winner, overall the cast has been inconsistent
Show has been renewed for a 2nd seeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaasooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnn!
Hell yeah!
It looked pretty and the story was ok but I don't know... something about it seemed off. Maybe I'm just jaded and can't buy into whole "happily ever after" storylines any more.
I had been putting off watching this film for a few weeks now. The "platonic friends navigate the wedding season" genre has been beaten to death in so many mediocre rom coms. I decided to give it a chance based on some of the reviews - this was a good decision.
The film was in fact very different from so many others. I won't go too far into the details as it might give some of it away (is that possible?). I recently watched and enjoyed Always Be My Maybe - I dare say that this was better. The two leads were excellent and perfectly cast the film seemed to find out a unique niche in the genre. I was invested from beginning to end and it is definitely one of the better films that I've seen this year.

A stupidly addictive show. I don't even watch television, so naturally I hold a strong disdain for reality shows. This one came at me like a sucker punch. It captures genuine and mundane moments between people, from intimate conversations to cooking meals together. It's well-edited and well-paced, occasionally interrupted with fun commentary by a panel of comedians. Ironically, for a show without a script, it has it's share of "character development" and twists. All Hail Yuto Handa.
In it's first year this felt like a "Star Trek" series with no ambition and little progress but with a cool premise. Then suddenly it started to become bolder and more interesting. It dared to go deeper into religion, politics and character studies than any of the other Trek series did on the air. Today I would say that this series began a kind of production that we would later see on cable with long-running story arcs, a huge cast list and pushing the envelope on what was allowed on TV. The last 10 episodes of this show (and beginning of the 6th) was like seeing a long-running 10 episode HBO series on syndicated TV to be blunt. I also liked that this was "Star Trek" where the leads were flawed and not perfect so they actually had to have internal fights with themselves and their own demons at times. They even managed to make their villains three-dimensional and sympathetic and I liked them all. What would have helped the show would have been an even healthier budget would have given some scenes better effects, more action and detailed battle sequences as this show had bigger ambition and tried to be more epic than what they really could manage to get through on screen. Some lousy embarrassing comedy and weak B-plots ruined some episodes too but this show produced some magic moments and is the show that has more hits than any of the other newer Trek shows that I have seen so far. This is the one show that deserve a revisit if one only skip over most of the filler episodes in season 1, 2 and major part of the third one.
Meh. Just a boring YA fantasy show. All the typical tropes and bad stuff associated with that genre you're going to get with this show. But without any of the good or interesting parts. Just boring main characters, forgettable villains and bad acting all around.
But it does have great cinematography and set design.
I'm probably not the target audience for these kinda shows anymore but I do still enjoy them from time to time when they are made well. This one just isn't in almost all aspects.
A great man once said, "It's a no for me".
On a serious note, why is Simon Cowell in a Scooby-Doo movie? I thought early 2000 references died years ago.
The only redeeming quality in the movie is Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly, but that's really it.
Every decision the film makers made for this movie was the absolute worst. The animation was bad and at times looks unpolished. How this new version handles the characters such as the old gang was painfully insulting. The Scooby gang are separated for a massive portion of the movie and we instead focus on this superhero-like story line, because superhero movies are popular right now. The voice acting was pretty terrible and how the movie applies modern technology into the story was straight up embarrassing.
It's a factory-made movie produced by a bunch of old boomers that try so hard to be hip for the modern youth, but it will age like sour milk.
I thought we would get a Scoob movie in the same vein as 'The Peanuts Movie' back in 2015. I guess not.
