If you watch just one episode of "Mythic Quest," make it this one. You don't even need to watch the pilot to understand it as it's 100% standalone. Just keep in mind the rest of the show is in a very different tone.
This particular episode is a heartfelt meditation on the power of a creative vision and how time threatens it. It's also really well acted and written. Funny, bittersweet, and surprising.
I gotta wonder if maybe this is the show the creators wanted to make from the get-go but had to compromise their vision until it became "Mythic Quest"...
Both a love letter and a proper continuation of the 90s show, made by people who obviously love the original cartoon, but also the X-Men characters and storylines. The intro theme is back, the characters are back, most of the original cast is back, the campy dialogue and storytelling format are back too. At the same time both the animation and the way themes of prejudice are presented have been updated in a way that feels more relatable to modern audiences.
It's clear that a lot of effort and heart were put into this, and despite hitting some heavily nostalgic notes, it definitely doesn't piggyback on nostalgia alone. Bringing back old, beloved shows and franchises is always risky, and it's not going to meet everyone's expectations, but if it has to happen then the best way to go about it is with care for the original material and understanding of what made it special to those who love it.
Will take me a long, long time to catch up. I've enjoyed the first 13 episodes. It's fun and Pirates are always awesome.
I've been watching this series since the very first episode back in 1999 aired on TV. That's friggin 16 years! It's surely a defining part of my life. I always loved the mixture of drama, action and humor. And I'll keep watching it 'till the very last episode, no matter what happens! One Piece for life. <3

But it drags like hell and has so many flashbacks and intro recap that aren't necessary unless we all have alzheimers
JUST the Mandalorian parts by themselves made this one of the best episodes of the series. JUST those parts.
I did not have Mr. Pershing Goes to Washington on my bingo card. Damn them for making Coruscant feel so real, because I know I can never go there. I really wanted to believe that Kane was genuinely converted and Pershing was the one who was harboring malcontent. Gideon may be gone, but she is definitely working for whomever sent all those TIE Bombers.
But the gold medal goes to the final scene. Bo had a classic come-to-Jesus moment. It's not the life she envisioned, but it's the best life available to her now. Can't wait to feel the uncomfortable silence between her and Paz. And I was scared that Bo would somehow know who the Armorer is and they would have a serious falling out. I guess the worst thing right now is having a Kryze & a Vizsla living in the same cave.
Also this is in keeping with my selfish head-canon that Grogu is going to get a mommy.
That was a heavy ride! I would encourage everyone to watch this limited series. It's one of the best I've seen in recent years. On every level! Cinematography, performances and especially the sound design which I wasn't expecting due to the shows topic! Masterfully crafted, intense, heavy, necessary!
I'm german, so I'm looking into this story from the outside. (even though germans obviously had similar problems in this era and especially later)
But I think with this series, I have gotten the best impression of black peoples' lives in this era and how their story continues throughout today.
I have not read the book, but the concept of an underground railroad is genius. Connecting different states and by that also different types of racism. In the show it is made clear, that this railroad didn't exist in reality. Under ground it almost feels like a dream, which it unfortunately was. But I also felt that this show was giving the black community so much dignity by implementing this into the story. To me it felt a lot like they were building a foundation of this country down there, which was just powerful to see.
I always thought about America as a whole. The "United States" of America. Turns out: Life in the different states that are even right next to each other, was quite different (duh). The main thing that these states (that were shown) "united", was basically some form of racism.
That's obviously not all, but that's what this show focuses on. And that is heartbreaking and horrible to see.
Yes, this show is more of a slow burn, but the emotions I've gotten from this type of pacing were truly worth it. It is not an easy watch, but I strongly believe, that not everything should be an easy watch. And this shouldn't be one either.
Go watch it!
Oh and I wrote this right after finishing the show. So I'm still thinking about it. These are just my first impressions I could turn into words. :smile:
What is there to say about this show? It’s been around for over twenty straight years and still iconic and amazing. If you like pirates, adventure, comedy, heartfelt storytelling, great characters and so on, just watch it. Just do it.

Absolutely insane episode. That last fight is epic to the max.
These faith-based movies play very differently for people who have it verses people who believe in other things than God. The movie was okay but it by no means spoke to me or made me anything other the annoyed really since the word "God" repeats itself like 20-30 times in the movie. At some point it's like okay, I get it, and I can accept it and be fine watching it but it doesn't need to be shoved down my throat which this movie without a doubt did do in it's pursuit to it's predictable ending. A little less faith cram and about 20 minutes less time would've done this movie wonders.
