This was not bad at all. I first started watching predicting it was going to be bad, I don't even know why. But, actually, it turned up quite good. Nice setting and plot. Great acting, in my opinion. I thought the soundtracks were freakin' good. Overall, it's nice. I personally enjoyed it.
PS: a Jottun means a giant, yes? Wonder what's the name of that creature! lol Anyways, that monster's design or whatever it is, was really good, Imho.
Don't be fooled by the slow start, it become awesome if you have some patient. and the way the story told, the girl point of view, is really unique in the genre. nice!
A super hero villian who succeeds with their diabolical plan to destroy the world and ironically save it at the same time. WHAT? So much love for the creativity of this movie.
I wish I found a hole in the ground, so I could throw this movie in it.
Underrated and an excellent Coen Brothers film..
Crazy action sequences. Really intense, with some impressive choreography. It's not a completely shallow action flick either, with its interesting, if a little convoluted plot. Really impressed.
A pesar de las historias te ries por lo surrealista de algunas situaciones. Aunque como todas las historias formadas por varios relatos, tiene algunos mejores que otros.
I get why the critics gave it the positive reviews they did; the cinematography was outstanding and the direction and performances were all very good. I enjoyed it a great deal for those reasons. However, I also get why much of the viewing audience was less positive about it (like the two friends I went with.) It is most definitely a slow burn, psychological horror film that lacks the in-your-face shock and/or gore moments common in the majority of contemporary horror films. It's also bound to leave you with more questions than answers (as one friend complained, "There's not enough info!") If you want to see an extremely well made film and aren't put off by films with a slower pace that demand a bit of imagination, I highly recommend it. Seriously, some of the camera work is breathtaking.
Émile Zola is the best French writer of all time, and not because he's my favorite. He's France's best writer because his 20-volume novelization of the country's 2nd Empire is a monument to French literature. He's my favorite writer because not only is he enormously talented, but in an epoch when antisemitism was systematic and systemic, he (a casual antisemite himself as a child of his era) stood up against the army, Ministry of Defense and the entire nation to decry a cover-up concerning the innocence of an exiled Jewish officer.
Zola is a gifted artist who also possess integrity, a combination that is as precious as it is rare. Many modern 'artists' simply use their talent as an excuse to commit unforgivable atrocities.
(For example: towards the middle of this film a convicted pedophile makes a cameo appearance in a party scene!)
Didn't expect the end twist with the tatoo, it's well thought.
The rest wasn't that original, but the actors from Studio Bagel/Golden Moustache made me enjoy it.
Le premier animé qui a une très bonne VF. Mais encore un animé sans suite et sans fin... Dommage je l'ai adoré... C'est encore pire
The VFX is incredible! The story is just okay -- most of them are just some stereotype old sci-fi foreshadowings
It forced me to buy a Twinkie, and I it was disgusting :D The movie was funny, though.
Seems even Paramount can make a good monster movie upon occasion. Slow start followed by intense gator fun. Has an important safety message, too....Don't ride out the storm! 7/10
Crawl came out of nowhere and bit me in the ass. I wasn't expecting much more than a smile, but Crawl had teeth and had me in its Jaws from the get-go.
Most summer monster movies are simply excuses for good posters (The Meg, anyone?), but skilled French director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes remake, 2006) brings some original touches to the genre, and even when he stays in the realm of the cliché, he has the decency to never let up the pace.
Looks like the biggest turd to come out in years. This will bomb for sure. Watching the preview it looks like a movie that has been shelved for 10 years. This will be a bigger flop than John Carter.
The power of story. This story will stick with you. An animated film about a child living in very real, very challenging times and circumstances. One of the 90th Oscar nominees for Best Animated Film, it is an adaption of book written by a Canadian author, of over 20 works, telling the story of children in their lives all around the world. Great story. Great story within a story. Great voice performances. I give this film an (you guessed it) 8 (great) out of 10. This will be a story that will generate conversations across age divides. [Animated True to Life Drama].
I guess it was pretty shocking for when it was released, but I personally didn't find the story enjoyable. There are a few pieces of the story they slowly reveal, but nothing was really interesting/exciting to me. Maybe I have seen too many similar movies that have improved upon the formula since this was released.
Il y a d'autre chose a savoir ?
Oui les effets, Ils sont de courtes durées et la descente est brutale
En gros t'as 5 min chrono pour gagner tes matchs avant de perdre connaissance
I really enjoyed this. Big improvement over Patchwork for the director Tyler MacIntyre. Fun humour and characters. Lots of references to other horror movies.
Charming French thriller with a hint of a French Connection.
The progression of my face during "dat ending":
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) → (⚆ _ ⚆) → ( ಠ_ಠ) → (ಥ﹏ಥ) → (ಠ▃ಠ) → ┬──┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ) → (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I'm still left in shock...
I can't honestly say more about it than that in fear of spoiling it. It was a pretty nice and interesting take on the zombie movie genre and definitely something a little bit different (especially with that ending). Not sure how I feel about the movie as a whole so I'm gonna wait to fully digest it and let the ending settle in before a final rating. Probably a 7/10.
Fantastic looking movie, but dreadful dialogue, cliched plot points and characters doing inexplicably stupid things ruined this movie.
Written by French slam artist Grand Corps Malade, and based on his book, this autobiographical film tells the story of an athlete who becomes a quadrapeligiac after a diving accident damages his spine.
The simple story is told with humour, tenderness, and soul, and proves what hurts the body doesn't necessarily affect the heart. Patients is a touching film that will stay with you long after you leave the cinema. Strongly recommend!
As someone unfamiliar with the source material, I found the story to be rather cliche and predictable, but the cinematography and overall visual feel of the film to be quite lush. See it as you would a painting: beautiful to look at but without depth.
Good performances by Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen. Lots of blood and gore (as there should be wherever Wolverine is involved). But.....the pacing was slow and the villains were lame which made the movie kinda boring.....
