Visually the best episode so far. From set pieces to visual effects, special effects and monster design, it was all done very well. Unfortunately, however, all the visuals in the world could not make up for the incredibly cringe dialogues. From the delivery to the script, it was all plain horrendous. Having a character say a load of fancy buzzwords in 5 different accents does not make for good writing, I’m afraid. If anything, at more than one occasion did I think to myself: “This would actually be a lot better if there was little to no dialogue at all”.
Overall, the pace of this episode was too slow for my taste, building up to a delivery that was ultimately just not enough to compensate for the first 30 minutes. Watching this felt like my patience was being tested, and the reward for sitting through watching a bunch of random people with little to no backstory doing several kinds of drugs together for some reason, was just not worth the time. I’m guessing the ending was intended to leave us wondering what would happen next, but all it left me with was a feeling I can only describe as.. “ehh”.
If there had to be an episode I would rewatch from this series, it would probably be this one, but more than anything, I’d just prefer to move on and quickly forget about this series altogether. Nothing I have seen this far has been particularly memorably, and this episode did little to change that.
