People seem to either love or hate this film. Personally I love it. It's a great story of aliens on earth and their situation is a commentary on real life refugees. Overall the film has a gritty documentary feel that gives it an added edge.
I'm a parent so I had an emotional connection since the trailer dropped... The bad reviews are from children expecting a flick with "splosions" and "boobies" lol
Wow, what a colossal disappointment this was. Just a pile of garbage.
I thought this was an amazing movie. It's called slow, but I don't think it's ever a dull movie. Really good story in my opinion.
In first place the movie is well-adapted from the book, maybe in the book you are more aware of the time because of the letter dates, but okay, I enjoyed so far the original story and watching the movie made me feel like when I was reading it adding of course good actors that have made a well played movie. The movie shows so many facts about youth that is hard not to feel identified with some of them. The director is actually the writer of the book, so good point at it. I have to say that I loved this movie so much that I recommend you to watch it.
We are infinite
Beautiful characters and beautiful story, beautiful on so many levels. I still can't figure out if it broke my heart or if it made it bigger. Maybe a little bit of both.
Watching this movie was such a trip. Seeing them happy only broke your heart even more.
I find it sad that so many people are so narrow-minded that they will not watch a movie that is black and white or, in this case, is subtitled. I feel sorry for people who refuse to watch a movie like Life Is Beautiful just because it is a foreign film. They have no idea what a beautifully acted and directed film this is, and they'll never know what an amazing experience they are missing.
Life Is Beautiful manages to walk the extremely thin line between humor, fantasy, and tragedy. Sure, the film is clearly comedic, but nevertheless it manages to very effectively communicate the tremendous losses suffered in the Nazi concentration camps and has scenes at least as intense as any scene in Schindler's List.
This is one of the best films that I have ever seen. It manages to be so encompassing that you hardly notice the subtitles are even there. I proudly cast my vote of 10.
The German nihilists, the feminist artist, the porn manager, the crazy phedophile, the crippled fake business tycoon, the Vietnam-war obsessed psycho and off course the Dude: a lazy deadbeat lowlife. The Big Lebowski sure has a lot of colourful personages which in my opinion is one of the reasons this movie is one of the best i have ever seen.
This is one of the many masterpieces from the Coen brothers, i wish i could congratulate them myself because they are geniuses. The music, the script and the cast are beyond fantastic. This is a masterpiece that only comes along in movies a few times in a decade. This is one of those movies that is and always will be a cult classic. I cannot say that this is the best movie that the Coen brothers ever made, but only because they made so many exceptional movies. But its definitely high up the list.
My favorite part is Gutterballs, when the Dude has some kind of hallucination. The music was just perfect together with the show Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore put on. I can't tell you how often i saw that part, that was just awesome.
Anyone should see this movie at least once in his lifetime. But once you've seen it i can guarantee you that you want to see it again.
It's a lovin' bowlin' kidnappin' must have seen all time classic movie. The Dude Defines! But don't pee on his rug, man.. just don't do it!
It is impossible to capture the essence of infinite love, sublime mercy or unrelenting grace. When faced with even the shadow of these things, we walk away with more questions than answers. This film can't do it. The book tried it's best. We only truly see it in Jesus. But, eventually you have to find these answers in the submission of trust. We need to learn to trust God. That being said, I'm glad for films and books that point us in the right direction. Let's keep trying to reflect these big truths. I give this movie a 7 (good) out of 10, for a decent adaptation and some fine performances, especially Octavia Spencer and Alice Braga. I give the book a 9 (superb) out of 10.
