In short awesome.
I had my expectation & also worried that it would let me down considering numerous failed reboot. Mortal Kombat(2019) delivers what it promised & good number of fan service cameo of 90s movie. The way they changed & applied new sequences to old story line is simply creative and amazing.
It didn't fail to bring me the nostalgia of the old movie & sophistication of 21st century. It may have been created for fans but it doesn't fall short as standalone movie. I wish they'll bring out the sequel of this movie as early as possible.
I feel like I don't want to be too harsh on this film but I have to be sadly....
Boring. Slow. Uninvested. Unoriginal.
A very slow and predictable plot. Uninspiring turn from Tommy Lee Jones, who phones in his performance with all the class of a 1980s Motorola cell phone! I couldn't have cared less about whether this father/son relationship had any development. Why? Because Brad Pitt's character is also boring. He's a machine - we get that spelled out to us several times.
Now... Brad Pitt acts well. The visuals are good - but in a world of Interstellar and Gravity, they're underwhelming.
I liked the view of Moon travel. That's the only positive.
For a 2 hour film though, it felt like 3. That's a bad sign for any film. I'll be avoiding this one when I see it advertised on TV.
I'm settling on 5/10 because of Brad Pitt's performance and some of the visuals (particularly the Moon). But I could have gone as low as 3/10 or 4/10 based on my mood leaving the cinema!
As an old old fan of the game,i did enjoy this movie, the special effects especially the fatalities..also it has a lot of characters from the game which is a delight for the fans to see
Better than all the others. This was great, a lil bit of fan service and Easter eggs but its a common almost a must nowadays. Nothing felt ridiculous or out of place, this is a great reboot. I hope the next installments just get better.
Dumb fun. You can tell how the cast and crew are fans of the property. This is also targeted at fans, since they don't really try to explain things. This definitely requires you to check the game wiki (or to have played a ton) to understand what's going on.
Took my daughter to see this last night. It wasn't as bad as the reviews were making it out to be. The action was pretty good and the fight scenes were well choreographed. Overall the story itself was ok. Nothing special but entertaining. My main issue was with the way it ended. You will need to stay for the credits because they literally just ended the movie after a battle. Even with the bit shown during the credits, it's like they didn't know how to finish the movie. You can tell that they are trying to shoehorn a 2nd movie. Their fix to ensure this is set up was to basically put up a "To be continued" sign at the end. It's not an actual sign but I hope you get what I'm saying.
Overall if you're feeling trapped in your house and you want to get out and enjoy a movie I'd go see it. We had a fun afternoon munching on popcorn and watching some monster action on the big screen.
This movie feels cheaper than a Netflix movie, and that says a lot. The core joke is "immigrant life is comically hard haha" aka- recycled Borat jokes. An American Pickle marketed itself as being about an immigrant family but it just veers into a bunch of dumb humor about current politics. It’s not funny enough to be a comedy, and it doesn’t have enough of a story to be anything else.
The fake "eastern Europe accent" is u-n-b-e-a-r-a-b-l-e! And what the actual fuck is "eastern Europe accent"? Russian? Hungarian? I know Americans are extremely dumb and so, so, so terrible with languages but come on. Fake "[anything not-English] English" always sounds like mockery. Stop it.
I'm always reluctant to watch old movies, even if they are well rated.
I'm glad that I watched this. I surely didn't expect anything of this caliber. The director didn't do any special fx which made this movie absolutely watchable and not too old-fashioned.
I can absolutely recommend this movie to any viewer interested in scifi with an age of 20 and above (not because of the violence, but because of the required education to truly endulge in this masterpiece).
Not particularly smart, surprising or anything we haven't seen before but relentlessly fun, great diverse ensemble and finally a DC movie whose colour palette that doesn't look like the film stock was fished out of a bucket of sick.
Psssssssssssst...hey... don't listen to these children.. go ahead..push play.. it's a good one when you've seen everything but still want some scifi background noise while you eat your kids Valentine's day candy
Fun, thrilling movie, however, there were quite a few negatives. Very 'cheesy', with extremely predictable moments (i.e. all the 'romance' scenes). The script was nothing interesting, I found myself more focused on the visuals rather than what the characters were actually saying. That being said, the underwater visuals are stunning and extremely detailed. Overall, not a bad movie, but a very predictable cheesy story-line.
This was a really hard movie to watch, especially because I have been to the island during a Socialist Youth summer camp in 2016. I can't give this movie an unbiased review, or rating. I just want people to know that the feeling of happiness before the shooting, the camp fire and the football match, that still happens every year. We're trying to take our island back, and we're succeeding. For socialist, social-democratic, and green youth, this island's name will return back to being synonymous with joy one day. I was too young to be politically active in 2011, but looking back upon it, I hope our comrades who lost their lives are proud we're still using the island for summer camps, and not letting the tragedy stop us.
