Loved this episode, it was a great time pass and also a very Pakistani story which didn't try to stray too far away from it's societal roots and everything. I liked how big-budget the epsisode felt, from the opening shot of train's wheels to a very good design of a knife wound, i felt that the production quality itself was very good but as happens with so many other Pakistani dramas, post-processing is valued instead of a natural lighting and camera source which results in odd colors everywhere. My favourite character and favourite actor of this first epsiode was Affan Waheed as he played the role of Badar with such a charasmatic air. It's very rare to see a male-protagonist who doesn't appear to be too smart when he does something smart or like a splitting image of a knight when he does something for our main opposite lead played by Hira Mani with a same charasmatic tact but with a sort of innocence in her role that she pulls off beautifuly with just her body language. Honestly, I didn't find any actor lacking in this episode even though the first epsiode was rooted in the all the stereotypes of the modern-Pakistani drama.
Overral, a 7.5 and I would recommend you to give it a try.
I usually don't like two things in any anime or tv show: Ecchi and Pilot episodes but this epsiode somehow worked and i loved it. I was caring for the protagonist halfway through because of a seemingly innocous twist that i already knew about. It's Maia's actions and reactions to the events around her that make it fun to watch. The scenery and animation of this show is also commendable. I liked the futuristic ocean-city and it's technologies and modern architecture which was pretty standard for any sci-fi set in the distant future. It also ecplained a faor bit of problems that could come from a climate change scenario's like this, including economical issues and crime and the role of government etc. etc. Very interesting
6.5/10
Kill List is one of the those movies that follows hitmen, they have a job and they have to kill people. I found it interesting that instead of glorifying the killings and without giving into too much stereotypes, the movie actually focused on more real interactions between the two hitmen and how like us they have conflicts, family problems and a sense of morality and that even though to them it's just like a job, they still are killing people and they have to live with that.
The folly of this is the third act of this movie which turns the structure of this whole "go and kill people without fucking up" into "survive". Which lended the film the tense finale that it had built up.
I liked it enough to recommend watching this with a few friends. Very well made and well-acted, you could understand and see the dilemmas, fear, anger and frustration that the characters were going through. I like that there is a category of movies following morally angry hitmen who die because of their own actions, teaching us that though this job was giving them a lot of easy money, once you step in there is only one way to get out: Die.
Watch more movies like this:
In Bruges
Death Sentence
Bunohan: Return to Murder
Incredibles 2 is a smooth ride of beautiful animation, fabulous voice acting and set pieces with very dynamic direction where the camera is always following the characters. First time I have seen 1st-person shots in a animated movie. Overral it was enjoyable but not as good as their other movie that I have seen, Monsters, Inc.
I know how formulaic shows can be very profitable and how they can be very entertaning to someone because of how fun and relaxing it is to learn more about our main characters through a normal episode-to-episode leisurely pace that doesn't have any stakes. I felt some of that here but It was all bogged down by really bad direction at times, stilted animation, in-organic story logic and the general sense of hollowness that you feel watching it.
This is a show with almost no heart to it, just a money making formula.
There were some things I did like despite of how boring the episode was. The vehicle transformations were unique and for some reason super detailed, I found them more interesting and fun than the personalities of some of our main charaters xD
There was one joke on the whole 24-minute runtime that made me smile, I guess that's a win?
Overral very inconsistent and boring.
