The Grand Tour: 1x03 Opera, Art and Donuts

I find it's gotten worse since the first episode. The 3 guys still have great chemistry but it seems like they're just using a big budget to goof around more than ever, massaging their ego's and rambling on about Britain.

Episode two was pretty bad. It would be nice to actually get some proper opinion and analysis of the cars being driven. Many scenes seem to take place outside the car. I don't expect 5th Gear levels of information but dedicate at least a few minutes to this, having a look at road cars and a bit less time destroying things!

Also, what's is the deal with the celebrity introductions? Is the same joke still funny 10 times later? Rant over :)

Dunkirk

Eh. If you have zero knowledge on what Dunkirk actually is and etc, you'll spend the entire movie confused. I went with my younger cousins and since we never really studied anything related to this war, we had no idea what was going on. I had to google the synopsis of this movie midway just to get a sense of what was going on. I wish there was more dialogue, and maybe a little more clarification. You get lost midway not knowing who's who or who got shot down and etc... Cinematography and everything else was pretty good, but pretty poor storytelling since it doesn't really educate anyone on the matter.

@ameliashepherd I think the situation is explained during the opening credits, unless you were looking for a broader explaination maybe?

Amanda Knox

That Daily Mail "journalist" is utterly despicable and somehow wilfully ignorant of his role. Solid documentary.

@phildev haha agreed! He was praising himself as a journalist and I was just thinking "you're not a journalist you're a tabloid gossip columnist".

The Quiet Girl

no offense intended but I absolutely needed subtitles for the English parts too, the way those words just all ran together...

Not offensive. This is a pretty normal ‘countryside’ way of speaking in Ireland and they use some slang words. It’s a heavy accent. The girl does mumble a bit too, she’s the quiet girl after all ;)
