"Not everything is fleeting."
Indescribably beautiful in every way. Sciamma knows exactly when to linger and exactly when to let go. This is a film that is in complete control. It doesn’t just depict the longing, the love, the heartbreak; it gives the audience permission to experience these feelings with the film. It allows us into these moments in such delicate and masterful ways, that we are swept up into the romance along with Marianne and Héloïse.
Its interesting how many shots in this movie could exist in the latest artsy horror film released by A24. But in the context of this film, they don’t horrify the audience; they haunt us. They haunt us both despite and because of their beauty. They haunt us in the same way as Orpheus’ last goodbye to Eurydice.
"Turn around."
"Die Hard" is a terrific example of what happens when all the pieces of a film fall together perfectly. There simply are no weak spots or dull moments in the film. Is "Die Hard" one of the best overall movies ever made? Probably not. But it's undeniably one of the best action movies ever made.
"Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs..."
An unexpected movie from Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan with a story playing out in a way that you really don't expect. The trailer gives you the premise but doesn't give anything away.
You see Jackie Chan in a different light, vulnerable and broken yet determined. The action was constant and the intensity kept building up with unexpected twists you couldn't help but enjoy.
Jackie Chan & Pierce Brosnan in their unique roles made this dramatic action thriller a hit.
Not your typical movie, go enjoy it!
Fans of Wes Anderson will certainly have a good time with "Asteroid City". Like most of the director's other projects, the film is funny, quirky, visually unique, and generally incredibly creative. On top of that, as usual, the cast is chock-full of well-known actors. Although several attempts have been made to imitate Anderson's style, no one has been successful thus far.
Despite my praises, however, there are a few weak points. I don't think Anderson's new film will persuade his detractors. On the contrary, he drifts further away from attempting to tell a coherent story. It is quite noticeable that the framework of the story is hardly present in his more recent films. Individual scenes are still often fantastic, but when combined, they don't always make for a strong overall film.
All in all, though, I continue to be satisfied. As I said, fans of Wes Anderson will definitely like "Asteroid City." And I count myself among that group for sure.
This is one the best action movies ever. I see a lot of hate for it here but it was just fantastic. If loving this movie is wrong, then I don't want to be right.
A serious action movie. Loved the acting from Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. A good plot and the storyline. Highly recommended.
could sworn i already watched that movie ... oh right, Olympus Has Fallen from 2013
I love this movie but one thing always bothers me.
At the beginning when Bruce Willis gets to the building. He says “I’m here to see holly mcclane.” The guard replies, “Just type it into the kiosk.” He does and it says she’s on the 30th floor. The guard then says, “The party, their the only ones left in the building.”
Well jackass, if they’re the only ones left in the building, why did you have him type it into the kiosk!
I knew - Jackie Chan can fight, Jackie Chan can do his own stunts, Jackie Chan can be a funny man. But now I know - Jackie Chan is a good dramatic actor! Interesting plot premise - Rogue IRA terrorists in 2017 and the foolhardiness behind trying to control such dangerous means for a political end. Great cast (good to see Pierce Brosnan recapturing his native brogue). Good performances. This was a good thriller. I give it a 7 (good) out of 10. [Drama, Thriller]
The trailer did nothing particularly to catch my interest. I was mostly seeing it because of the hype from others to see what it was about.
And watching the movie there still wasn’t anything particularly that caught my interest.
I never felt bored throughout it despite the length, and the acting + writing was good. But I never felt invested in the characters and story. I felt I could go out on a bathroom break at pretty much any point, come back, and not felt like I had missed anything essential.
I also felt like they couldn’t decide if they wanted to make a hero or a villain out of Oppenheimer. So they tried to do both. And through trying to do both, they failed to do either. This really became a point of uneasiness and disconnect in the final stanza of the movie.
Given the power to do absolutely anything, I would make this a better movie. More jokes, tighter script, more imaginative ideas. This was a waste of a lot of talent. There are some amusing moments but not enough.
Some towers n'orcs and shit
Made for teenage girls and feels like a self insert of the director
Not quite inception level but still a decent film with some good action that was different and cool effects also that couldn’t make it’s mind up in going backwards or forwards and made it very confusing at times also felt the plot was rushed and not enough information.
Watched this purely to get it out of my watchlist. Knowing it existed as a sequel to Silence of The Lambs and not watching it felt like a waste, but I can’t decide if watching it was even more wasteful.
It’s crude, obvious, leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, felt parodistic at times. Very disappointing since the first film is one of the greats. Hannibal Lecter had so much potential as a character, and was rendered a cardboard maniac serial killer here with queer jokes thrown in the mixture for good measure. Bleh.
This is more than a movie about baseball, it’s about courage, integrity and a shift in perspective. It can be very hard to watch at times because it is also a movie about hate, ignorance and the rape of a soul. The performances are stellar. Chadwick Boseman is perfect in the role. I tend to give high ratings for movies that inspire. This life is inspirational and the movie succeeds in capturing it in a dramatic 2 hours and 8 minutes. I give this film a 10 (inspirational) out of 10. [Drama]
I have seen this story executed better in
TV - CW The Flash
Animation - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
Movie - Zack Snyder's Justice League
Comic - Flashpoint
P.S. None of them has god awful CGI babies.
Why call 'The Exorcist' the scariest horror ever made when Robert Zemeckis 'A Christmas Carol' exist.
Season's greetings from hell!
One of the most ugliest and horrifying Christmas movies out there. However, I respect it in some strange way. There's nothing like it. It's weirdly in the same vein as Tom Hooper's horror masterpiece 'Cats', in terms of CGI and having an identity crisis.
Honestly don't think I want to watch the film knowing they used real footage from Beirut...
A great Christmas Movie. Well written, well played. A near perfect movie as per me
Just as good as the last time I saw it. Major League is one of the better sports comedies made, with good acting, and a predictable but good story. The only thing to drag this one a bit down is the romantic subplot. As much as I love Rene Russo, it threw off the pacing somewhat. Other than that, this is just comedy gold.
Major League is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. The film is a hilarious and inspiring portrayal of the underdog story, with a lovable cast of characters that are impossible not to root for. The comedic timing and chemistry between the actors are spot-on, with Charlie Sheen's portrayal of wild pitcher Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn being particularly memorable. Major League is one of my personal favorites, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for a good laugh and a feel-good sports story.
One of the best sports comedies ever made, even and especially for those who aren’t fans of baseball.
Despite loving baseball, sport biopics, Chadwick Boseman, I never got around to watching this one. Due to my lovely Movie Club, I was prompted to finally check it out. It is about as solid as expected. Everything about the movie, cast, plot is on par with any quality expectation you may have.
