Am I in the minority in enjoying Marcus's character? His one-track mind, naivete, and zeal for wanting to improve are all interesting characteristics. His mom being sick is kind of a cliche backstory, but I like that he is sort of an aimless wanderer trying to figure out his new role.
[Initial Impression] In this opening salvo for Apple TV+, M. Night Shyamalan gives us a slow reveal on a bizarre situation. Immediately, we discover the foibles of this couple making them not very likeable. I found the obscured camera angles, that I assume were done so to tell their own stories, to be distracting rather than facilitating the story telling. The pace teeters between boring and suspense. And even the suspense lead to a predictable outcome, but the set up for what will happen next and what is the real mystery behind this Servant, promises an underlying greatness to this series. Let's see if it pays off. I give the opening episode an 8 (potentially great) out of 10. [Mystery Thriller]
Walton Goggins has played some interesting characters in the past, but The Ghoul is iconic.
I really liked The Ghoul’s and the little brother’s vault story coming to an epic shared conclusion. Lucy and Maximus had a really boring journey throughout, and never really seemed to grow as characters, Maximus is still a dumbass and Lucy is still clueless and gullible.
God damn. Alan Ritchson’s abs have abs.
Somebody, please! Get this man a gun!
If you read this comment, it means you liked the series too. It ended leaving many questions in my mind. I'm glad the cowboy and the girl got together and her dad was a jerk. As always, as every good thing has an end, we have come to the end of this beautiful thing. Who will wait for the second season now? It's an excellent series, I've played and watched more or less the game. The acting, the environment, the effects, everything was good. Your efforts are like health and medicine.
will poulter, the man you are
will poulter's character is probably the best mentor marcus could have. he's so calm, patient and open. I'm curious to see the growth that the Copenhagen trip will bring to Marcus (in his culinary skills and in general).
the music was so good, as per usual. will poulter’s character was nice, his straight face-ness gives an intimidating first impression but his conversations with marcus were very refreshing. that bike incident was really cool and i’m wondering if it will be spoken about again. i’d almost like if it wasn’t. it just felt like one of those odd close encounters with strangers that happen sometimes. idk how to word that.
if marcus’s mother dies, man :(
marcus is my beloved and I'm so happy for him. also will poulter here was fire. he's really moved up since maze runner eh
Beautiful episode. Love Will Poulter's character. It was a very nice example of how travel and new experiences can really change a person for the better. I'm so proud of Marcus too, he's doing his best to become a better version of himself that he probably thought he never could do.
I like the story but the camera work, especially the zooming, is annoying and poorly done.
Not yet sold on the idea that watching awful people be miserable is something I want to dedicate hours of my life to, but pilot episodes are always a little shaky, even if this one was shakier than most.
And while the writing was hit and miss, I absolutely hated most of the filmmaking. From the camerawork to the editing, this found a way to press nearly every one of my buttons in the worst way. Really hoping they cut back on this style as the show goes on.
The performances were spectacular, though.
I'm not sure I want to watch this any further.
I mean sure, the maladjusted sociopaths of the elite rich are people too. They have everyday struggles, personal slaves and their own hopes and dreams just like the rest of us, sure.
But I don't give a shit.
I'm not rooting for any of the characters. I'm neither enthralled nor am I having any fun really.
Alan Jones: You see Wayne much anymore?
Roland West: Not at all, and I don't know why.
Alan Jones: No hard feelings, though?
Roland West: Not between him and me. We were good friends, the way I see it. I think it was... once we stopped workin' together, we just stopped. Sometimes it's like that with people.
man does he ever get to eat the pie? I guess we'll find out.
I get that Reacher is basically a superhero, and sure, suspension of disbelief. But come on, repeated head shots with a crow bar?
I love the actress playing roscoe, plus the ending of the episode was perfect.
H
aving read all of the Lee Child, Reacher series, I was looking forward to this, wasn't disappointed with the first epp, so looking forward to getting into this.
Tom Cruise has star power on his side and is a better actor than people give him credit for. It was rather amazing he managed to survive in a part he just wasn't right for. This actor is exactly right. I'm happy to see this series. This is true to the book. Only thing is to me the book was depressing, grim, I couldn't finish it. This reminds me of the sort of mystery show the Brits crank out by the dozen, interesting well acted ensemble acting of interesting characters with a central character who may have some unsavory factors but at root is fan lovable. I dunno if I want it to get more true to the books. This I find this fine as it is. :-)
First episode is perfection. Literally makes me want to read the books. Loved every minute of it. Alan Ritchson definitely has something special here.
I'm realizing that I'm kind of a sucker for these off the grid, special skills sort of characters. Like Jason Bourne, the awareness of Reacher within his surroundings is the coolest skill. The lead actor is a monster and I'm wondering how he stays that ripped as a drifter without being in the gym six hours a day. Must suspend disbelief. I like Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher character, too, but it'll be interesting seeing how this series differs from those films.
.... ok wow this bros hot
A weird and disgusting cyberpunk furry hentai.
Written by horny teenager? Probably not but it really looks like it.
TV needs more of this kind of creepiness. Solid pilot episode. And poor Sean, what have you done to deserve this!
This first episode looked promising. Really good style and definitely a creepy storyline. It will be interesting to see where it‘ll go.
Sufficiently creepy and engaging, which I expect from Shyamalan.
Really liked the camera work on this first episode. Great setup episode.
I stayed far from spoilers so I didn’t know what to expect. Watched the next 2 episodes in a row. I love that the runtime is 30 minutes.
