Very good concept, but too slow to the point that I stopped watching it and checked the man of recap 4 videos as a recap for the whole series, so I enjoyed 40 mins summary of the whole 4 seasons!
And thank God that I stopped watching it in season 1 because the ending of season 4 (series final) was so bad!
This is a really well done show. The acting is excellent and what action it has is quite impactful. Definitely worth a watch.
Maybe a bit foolish of me but I was really hoping the characters would be speaking their native language. It would hit so much harder hearing this in german and french instead of a weird mix of a bunch of english accents.
This is actually a better series than expected. It is also more complex than just the characters and the storyline. It watches like a tragi comedy but is actually a protest against corporate America, Boomer hell culture, bullying, college sports team culture, Reddit, Twitter, and the insanity coming with these days small entrepreneurship,... all under the blanket of doing good but with hidden agendas and thus it will fail at every point. It reminds me of a quote a few years ago: When big money enters doing well for all, doing well is the first that suffers. I like the cleverness coming with this series, and how bigger issues are being made small to understand the big picture.
I watched this series episode by episode since 2014. I can't remember how many times I've binge-watched the whole series since it ended in 2019. The characters and their antics make me laugh and feel good every single time. They never get old. The Internet will never forget them either, there will be memes from this series for years to come.
IMHO ...
Best comedy series for software engineers / tech people: Silicon Valley
Best serious drama series for software engineers / tech people: Mr. Robot
I did not remember most of what happens in this show but I'm glad I watched it again. This has hold up fairly well to me and I found the watch very quick and easy. Nothing about this is mind blowing but it was entertaining which is more than I can say of a lot of shows. Sad this never got a few more seasons.
It had an OK first season, although it kind of seemed stuck between absurdity of the concept and surprisingly serious tone it tried to struck sometimes, but all that awkwardness is gone in second season.
It kicks ass from the beginning to the end, no saggy parts. It's fun, surprisingly smart, intriguing. Everything is at amazing level - cinematography, directing, acting... In fact, it seems everyone had a good time making it and that good time translates to the viewer as well.
If you're perhaps wondering should you watch second season even though it was canceled - the main plot of the season is wrapped up. There's hints to where the plot will go next (and I really hope we will get to see it as it promises to transform the show completely yet again), but it's not a cliffhanger that will make you mad for wasting time on a show. And when the season is as good as it is, I'd say it's well worth your time.
Netflix doesn't disappoint with this show. I recommend watching at least the first 4 episodes of season 1 before you decide whether you like it or not. I was hooked after the 4th episode. Season 2 is by far better than the 1st. The cast is amazing and talented . Alba Baptista is so good.
Twin Peaks is indisputably one o the greatest shows ever, however you have to watch it at the right time and recognize a few things.
First off, if you get to the end of the 3rd episode and you still don't like it, then it may not be your type of a show. That third episode is really the point where you find out if you'll like the rest or not.
Secondly, if you watch it and don't like it, then wait a couple years then come back. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked it if I watched it a few years ago.
Thirdly there is a noticeable drop in quality about halfway through the second season. Hammer your way through these episodes, do not skip them. I know they are painful to watch but the payoff is worth it. The show eventually does get itself back on track just in time for the final episode to be the greatest episode of any television show ever.
I recommend this show to everyone but that doesn't mean it's for everyone. Give it a shot though, it's really fucking good
This exceeded my expectation, I decided to try it out because its premise was quite unique and it didn't take long before I was hooked.
It was also great to see quite a bit of screen time included for the secondary characters through out the series with special mention to Hoktal & Ssanip as they really help keep the series lighthearted.
On Netflix (Australia), this series is split into 16 episodes rather than 32 episodes. I didn't realise until the about the '14th' as the mobile site limits how many episodes appears in the list.
Absolutely adorable! Woo Young-Woo is such a nice character greatly portrayed by Eun-Bin!
[Netflix] Skillfully uses the autism syndrome that was already used in the Korean k-drama "The good doctor" (2013) to offer a representation of some of the problems of a society that is torn between modernity and tradition. And although some of its themes can be controversial, it manages to balance itself between weepy soap opera, silly comedy and the generational drama of a kind of Amélie in a hostile world.
This was a Netflix hit for a reason! Episodic in nature, with each episode (or two) focusing on a case. The cases that they took on were fresh, and it was refreshing to see unique situations that lead to needing all the members of the team to come together.
Again, Park Eun-bin absolutely shines. She has true talent, making Woo Young-Woo come to life with refreshing honesty.
The supporting cast are also A+ (even Joo Jong-hyuk, playing Mr.Bad Coworker Kwon Min-woo). I think this could be a gateway Kdrama for many people - in the same way 'Crash Landing on You' was.
Great fun from the creator of Mr Bean (just ignore the toxic reviews).
Nine sadly too short episodes of great physical comedy that everyone can relate to - the battle with a bee.
Easy going, and light hearted, a refreshing bit of content coming from Netflix.
Moderately amusing, but not that great. It's short though, so if you've nothing better to do then check it out. It's basically the length of the average movie (other than the first episode, they're only 10 minutes each).
Each episode is short - between about 35-45 minutes.
And honestly, that's it's only saving grace. The show starts well, with a NATO solider hijacking a plane and demanding it fly West immediately to avoid the sun. Ok... but that's about the only interesting thing in the show.
The rest is just some unlikely coincidences and a lot of manufactured interpersonal drama between the passengers and silly logic. The show is extremely low budget... and it shows by rarely if ever leaving the plane interior. There are some very rudimentary occasional FX.
That said, low budget isn't really a bad thing - see the movie Cube for example.
But Into The Night starts to become annoying as you realise that the story doesn't seem to be really going anywhere beyond the sun becoming lethal. There's no real expansion on the mystery and in my case I started fast forwarding through the episodes towards the end of S1.
And then you realise that S2 has just moved from one interior micro-budget set to another.
I honestly don't know whether I can pluck up the stamina for S2. Maybe I will fast-forward through it.
Even though this drama is quite cliche I'm enjoying it so much!! Their acting and the couple's chemistry is just amazing!
This Spring is blessed with five good dramas airing at the same period ; among them Business proposal has the simplistic and most cliche story and yet it is ranked second and on par with 2521 in terms of viewership and overseas engagement. The fact that both airing in Netflix internationally might have in getting wider audience but its the cast and their chemistry that has bought forward such tremendous response.
why does prince yongcheung always look like he's going to cry
A top-tier drama, original and so funny. The cast did a spectacular job!
First half was gold, second half I'm not gonna lie has manny fillers and the plot wasn't as smooth as a tought it will be, I found myself laughing with Hyesun's acting but the rest of characters were kind of a meh, Byeong In was underrated and became relevant for the plot only to wrap up things wich was kinda off.
Still a good watch, by any means I could rate this with less than 8, technically was flawless, from sound to setting was the best of the best.
Imagine if Jang Bong Hwan wouldn't be on a vegetative state we could have a second season with the queen on his body in an actual time.
Mr. Robot + Dexter + Fifty shades of grey
I immensely liked this show, it was a little bit of Hunger Games and Battle Royale. The story was exciting, the games were cool and interesting, and the characters were life-like. I guess this is the main reason I loved this show - there were no kdrama bs, no romance no nothing we got used to in other kdramas. This was an awesome tv show, with great side stories, and although sometimes the acting was off, or the dialogues were clichés, overall the drama did an awesome job to hook its viewers. Favorite characters were the old man and the north korean girl, favorite games were the first one (the moving, not moving) and the marbles.
MInus 2 points for the ending, because it is such a bad way to close - it was not logical for our main character to act like that. :( Apart from this, it's still a better kdrama. Dark, gritty but it hooks the viewers instantly.
Tons of funny scenes, good acting, lovely characters and a really good plot
I could easily rate this with a 9 but since this was a super high production I'm going to see those little details! TvN gets used to fill their high budget dramas with unnecessary scenes and this wasn't the exception. The first half was really good I can't complain, the second half was kinda meh and predictible, the chemistry between Yejin and hyunbin was so good, all the cast was super funny and watchable, not so sure about the side couple, looks like Kim Jung Hyun can't do comedy anymore without remembering his character from "Welcome to Waikiki" and to be honest all the scenes with him and Seo Ji Hye were boring and somehow longer than what I expected. Glad to see Kim Soo Hyun and Choi Ji Woo as guests.
Obviously this isn't the best drama from TvN but is good enough to be at least one of the best of Winter Season.
This one felt very claustrophobic. Camera is always up people's faces or backs, weird angles, doesn't show what you actually want to see, background is blurred. There is this obnoxious blue "sci-fi filter" in all the scenes set in space and belt it hurts my eyes to watch this. Couldn't get past 25 mins of episode 1.
Edit: After a lot of getting used to the camera work and blue color gradient in subsequent episodes, I finally got used to it and watched the whole thing. This is one of the best tv shows ever.
Travelers" starts out avoiding the normal time-travel series plot holes by not showing the future world being manipulated -- skipping the usual dual-timeline clichés. While the future is referenced, and communicated with, it remains unseen and lets the viewer concentrate on the present, until the last couple episodes when things go a little haywire and “Travelers” becomes an example of why it's difficult to prolong a series about time travel.
Season 1 doesn't have any sort of resolution, ending with a cliffhanger to setup a never ending story. The method of time travel isn't the best, lends itself to plot holes. The season finale seems like one ginormous plot hole. Some episodes are better than others, the acting is OK for a story going nowhere... Seems very much like a SyFy Network type series.
I absolutely hate to take one star away , I do have to though as irrespective of how brilliant it was for 9 episodes , it did go downhill for those 3 remaining episodes. It doesn't take away much though , it remains one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced !
This is a great show. Its getting compared to Breaking Bad and while I think BrBa is a lot better they are really different shows. Ozark isn't trying to copy, it is doing its own thing. The show is very dark and it doesn't pull any punches. Some of it is not easy to watch. A lot of twists you don't expect. Jason Bateman gives a fantastic performance. He is perfect for a snarky asshole financial adviser. Hopefully he does more serious/non comedic roles.
Can't wait for season 2. Assuming Netflix will pick it up.
i dont know about u guys but asa butterfield AND gillian anderson? ive never been so on-board before
UPDATE: just finished it and MAN you all need to watch this. its a mastery of crushing cliches and good writing!
