"Die Hard" is a terrific example of what happens when all the pieces of a film fall together perfectly. There simply are no weak spots or dull moments in the film. Is "Die Hard" one of the best overall movies ever made? Probably not. But it's undeniably one of the best action movies ever made.
Well, to be fair it was well acted, the music was great and I very much liked the comedy aspect in it. It was also nice to see people actually fighting back, for once, and NOT behaving like a dumb bunch of helpless chicken.
Other than that, the plot had many, many holes and the final twist actually ruined the whole story for me. It was also very inconsistent about which "laws" these shadows had to follow - sometimes they were doing the same things as the people on the upside, but other times not... however it fit the plot in that moment, it seems. 'Us' tries very hard to be deep and stuff, but it really is not.
However, while it is not as great as I had wished it to be, it also not the worst horror movie I have ever seen. So, for a horror movie night it's OK to watch but don't expect too much, I guess.
still a better love story than twilight.
that’s so different than i thought it would be, really loved it
I don't understand why this film is popular? Almost cartoonist variations of "gangs" and an 80's soundtrack might bring nostalgic for some? I was left feeling underwhelmed. I didn't care about the characters and they were left without growth. This is a "cult classic" I don't agree with.
A thesis of what happens when no one thinks of yelling for help or calling the police
It's a big build up to one event which is basically a zombie movie without zombies. There are some good lines of dialogue in the build up but it didn't save the characters from being average. It's an OK movie but I found it overated. It needed to be either more ridiculous or more serious for entertainment sake. It sits in the middle and the pace was slow in areas.
Goldfinger, it's the film
The film with the golden stars
All five full stars
Such a fun singer
Beckons you to watch this film of fun
So don't you run
Golden music will pour in your ear
And the girls will certainly make you peer
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
It's a scene of sex from Mister Sean Connery
Most pointless movie I watched in my entire life was better I watch porn instead
This was Joan Crawford's finest acting performance by far. After leaving MGM, this was her big comeback film that she fought hard to get and it shows in this performance. She really gives it her all and she hands down earned her Oscar as a woman who does everything to try and win over her daughter who is just plain rotten and horrible (Ann Blyth is ruthless as Veda; the casting and chemistry between her and Joan are perfect. They really do look like mother-daughter). You can't help but feel frustrated and sad for Mildred as she gets screwed over time and time again by Monte and Veda, when all she did was selflessly work her ass off making an honest living and sacrificing everything, including her own happiness and dignity for her daughter's love, when at the end of the day, her daughter doesn't deserve her . I enjoyed this movie, tho I think it would have been even juicier had there been no production code. Nevertheless, it's a classic that everyone should see especially for the standout performances of Ann Blyth and Joan Crawford, in particular.
I couldn't make it through. Not involving at all. Between the slow story that involved people having dreams are plenty of unnatural character waffle that sounds like a dodgy Tarrantino knockoff but with less swearing and pseudo intellectual meanings. From the start the Depp voice over tries to be deep and thought provoking about a fish - give me a break ... and that kind of sums up the feel and intention of this movie . Not very funny for a comedy either. There is a decent movie in here somewhere maybe, but it's too draining an experience to look. Stimulating plot is few and far between. Every scene made me not care more than the last. Quirky characters for the sake of it.
I know people consider the '46 one the definitive version but I prefer this one. I like the pared down story and less characters and that it stars Lee Marvin. I feel like the younger hit man was trying every acting trick in the book to get our attention and look cool, from the sunglasses, to the hand squeeze exerciser, to his laughing, to his diet obsession...but you cannot outcool Lee Marvin. It's just not possible.
So, this where I learned that psychedelic cyberpunk experimental film is not for me. Despite two excellent horror sequences (the subway chase scene and the initial scene where the woman tries to comfort the man come to mind) and very sharp stop motion animation, the lack of a clear narrative really pulled this one down for me. The meaningless gore and moralizing anti-sexuality were incredibly off-putting to me, even as a fan, albeit a casual one, of horror and exploitation films. I might be convinced to watch the other films in the series, but this one was, at times, torturous.
In the 2014 film, we don't see enough of Godzilla. In this film we see too much Godzilla and we wish the film didn't get the look of him so wrong. The film is Independence Day with Godzilla or whatever that CGI thing is supposed to be.
However, the 2014 film despite being too much about the humans as well. At least had Godzilla battling some other creatures. Here Godzilla just stomps around with nothing to do. While the humans battle some Godzilla babies.
You also have the P. Diddy song that rapes a Led Zepplen classic. So the film also loses points for that lol. The cast is too cutsie too. Matthew Brodwick...vs Godzilla ? Jean Reno at least has his show stealing moments.
If you want a big loud Universal Studios ride of a movie, then you may enjoy this though.
Glenn Close in her prime. Great actress but not a looker. Even in Fatal Attraction, nope.
