Le Grand Bain (Sink or Swim) opens with a child placing square pegs in a square hole and round pegs in a round hole, which is a fitting analogy for this film.
Established actor and first time director Gilles Lelouche is satisfied putting his square peg in a square hole, not striving for anything unique or better, just happy fulfilling his duty with a well made square peg that will slip through the hole, out of sight and into oblivion.
