I might just be too simple to see the deeper meaning of this… the idea itself is noteworthy but the way this is shot gave me nothing back emotionally. Maybe I’m just too much influenced by modern media although I’m watching a ton of old stuff too. This was just not for me.
Great episode, much better than the Pilot.
Generally I think this could be a great show but introducing what felt like 100 characters in different scenarios over the first 30 minutes alone might have been a bit too ambitious and made it rather hard to figure out what is going on with whom and where…
That 1975 Holden Sandman HJ Van is an absolute beauty …
So many sweaty people in the 80s …
Somehow half the movie turned out to be a David Attenborough documentary…
Overall this movie has a lot of problems and the sum of it makes for a rather disappointing experience.
Especially the very weird blurry background that gives me nausea as if I’m drunk and the movie’s ridiculous amount of slow motion scenes would be enough to not like this wannabe SciFi Epos but it goes so much deeper than that.
It feels like playing a video game that doesn’t know yet what it wants to be. Every 20 minutes we get another boss fight with an entirely different choice of weapons and to make matters even worse the CGI effects are often not as I’d expect them to be in a 2023 blockbuster. And the story is so forgettable for some reason not to mention some of the dullest dialogues of a long time. Still this movie certainly has its bright moments but unfortunately they’re too rare to overlook all of its problems…
This movie never peaked
The acting of what little story there is is good but the problem of this 2h (!) movie is that it never peaks. A good story should have an introduction, a peak and its conclusion but this story is just flatlined. There is no real interesting plotline and no dramaturgy at all. And to strengthen this argument: I like slow burners but this one isn’t even lit…
Earth is not a star! Earth is a planet!
The sun is a star!
How can astronauts get the basic concept of astronomy so wrong?!
It’s also very frustrating that the documentary jumps back and forth of the different Apollo missions.
Otherwise great insight.
Funniest episode in a long time!
In my opinion this show is extremely overrated because half of it is like dialogue in the dark followed by the other half which is just extended Mortal Kombat - also all in the dark.
It’s funny how people complain about GoT episode „The Long Night“ being too dark and therefore being incredibly bad when this show is all dark. A lot of the scenes in this show don’t even need to be in the dark. It’s incredibly annoying and on top a lot of the dialogues are dragged and unnecessary.
WHAT? Dude, keep watching 90 min Movies if you can’t comprehend exceptional character development!
Operation Napoleon is visually a good movie and the acting is decent.
But, the plot and its execution is appalling at times. Especially the first 30 minutes the movie goes through multiple phases where the story just jumps ahead and you can feel that - without having read it - entire chapters of the book are skipped. It's really hard for the viewer to build a connection to the characters because it's all so rushed and unexplained - and its not the "mysterious type of unexplained"... The second half of the movie is definately better but overall the plot is just not to my liking at this point. Two conspiracy theories (at best) are being mixed with one another and the way they exploited that felt really easy and "cheap".
The incompetence of such commissions is staggering, not only in the UK.
From personal experience I can tell you that so many emotions and little notions in this episode are absolutely spot on! So far this show is very promising.
I think … I THINK … we’re onto something amazing here. If this can keep up this level it’ll be named with the few big ones. I’m still hesitant to give this episode a 10, but it’s a fat feckin’ 9!
This show is a mess! It’s even worse than it’s lead character Cassie…
The Flight Attendant tries to hit all genre boxes there are at once: Drama, Comedy, Crime, Thriller, Adventure, Mystery and probably a few I forgot. While trying to address all of them it actually turns out to be really bad on delivering on every single one. It’s just trying too hard to be something unique with all its fancy scene cuts and the soundtrack which is just annoying by the time the show reaches season 2. The story gets so confusing especially in Season 2 at times that it’s becoming seriously hard to follow and it has to be said, that at least in this show Kaley Cuoco does a bad job at drama acting. I think she’s really funny in TBBT and I thinks that’s where her acting skills lie.
I wouldn’t recommend watching this show. While S1 was still okay-ish S2 really wasn’t and consequently the show was canceled after that. Even if you’re a Kaley fan - don’t waste your time with this one.
By now this show has gone from mediocre to really bad fast!
If you’ve watched more than one action romance you’ve already seen this one. It’s the most basic plot without any surprises. It has to be said that J.Lo is in fantastic shape but unfortunately that can't cover up her (at best) mediocre acting skills. You've heard and seen all them laughs before so don't b disappointed if it doesn't make you laugh out loud. Recommended only for hardcore J.Lo fans.
THE. BEST. SUPERHERO. MOVIE. PERIOD.
Sorry for all caps but had to be said ;)
Those super shaky camera passages made me seasick!
This show has a problem. And it’s not about something in the show, it’s actually the absence of it. The mother show GoT was excellent in displaying the different houses and their thrive for the throne. But it also had a bigger threat to everything human posed upon the viewer from the very first episode - the white walkers and the viewers knowledge that when winter is coming everything will change. This imminent constant threat is what is missing in this show. First I didn’t realize it but I always felt something is missing. It played such a big part in the background of GoT that without it HotD is ‘just’ another drama. It’s still good at that but it’s not really much more either.
I know there will never be better hosts than Clarkson, Hammond and May but you have to hand it to these three - they’re doing a good job by now! And this episode was fantastic!
How brainwashed are Republicans?
Republicans: Yes
IMO this movies is seriously overrated!
First of all the acting - it is appalling and I'm not only talking about the stupid Zombies or the supporting actors, but the lead actors as well. All of them! My god this is bad.
Next CGI: for a movie with a budget of 33$ Mio this is just sad. The actors couldn't have eaten all the budget so where did the money go to? Definately not into CGI. Most certainly not into the cardboard film set and filming locations...
The story ... well, if you haven't played the games it might be alright to you but it really doesn't deserve the title of the games.
Sorry but this movie is a joke, with maybe 5 min of decent scenes otherwise very unwatchable.
I feel that potential was hugely wasted when turning the movie mainly into a romance. If there would have been a bigger focus on the crime part and if it would’ve been pushed past PG-13 this movie could have worked a lot better. Not saying that they should’ve left out the love story but keeping it more in the background might have helped. This way it’s too mediocre, to boring to really take off. Shame really…
Watching this in 2022 I feel we’re living in times where everyone should watch this movie and afterwards reflect it on themselves. Too many groups like “The Wave” exist these days without their “members” realizing it!
Generally I still like to give the show a chance to evolve. But for now it has a lot of issues.
The dialogues are the obvious one - for at least half of them they’re uninspired, way too simple and forgettable. I’ve seen a lot of overused standard catchphrases as well.
Then there is pacing… this is something everyone is experiencing differently and everyone has another opinion on that but to me it feels way to rushed most the time. Character evolvement and story arc decoration is often non existent. This world has so many fantastic places and characters but there is no time to take it all in. Key events are told within two minutes and too many story arcs are present at once. The show really needs to slow down and give the viewer breathing time to take it all in - to dive into this amazing world.
There are of course things I like about the show. I think the overall idea and placement in time of this universe is well thought out. I like most actors and the CGI is one of the best there has ever been.
So if Amazon gets it right in S2, this has the potential to be the mega event I am waiting for but for now overall this show is just good - nothing special!
This show should have ended after S5 or even before that - it would’ve been a 9/10 at least. The rest is just not worth it tbh. Shame really…
This episode is absolutely littered with overused catchphrases and dialogues.
