This is a pirate rom-com between Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) and it is so absolutely delightful. It takes a few episodes for the pair to come together, but once they do, the show is dynamite. And I am 100% serious when I call it a romance. Thank you David Jenkins and co for one of my new favorite shows!
not bad but not brilliant either. tonally i don't think it works that well and there's no one to really root for.
This season starts as rather uninteresting and slow-paced, but gets better during the second half. I was not much satisfied with the ending though: like in Coven it felt again kind of improvised and all over the place (they kept most characters alive and randomly started killing them off during the last couple of episodes just for the sake of it, and honestly it had zero emotional impact). The theme of diversity has been treated in the most obvious ways: the "diverse" ends up being more human than normal people and the likes. At least no one was truly noble this time, everyone got their own dark secrets and flaws, which made the relationships between characters mostly interesting. As always great acting and good characters sometimes affected by shallow, underwhelming writing.
After two seasons of success, Survivor once again sticks to the formula and spits out another really solid season. Compared to the other two in the original trio of seasons, this is the one that is least memorable. This may be in part due to the environment that they are surviving on isn't as appealing as previous seasons. There is a couple of solid characters that stand out like Ethan, Lex, and Big Tom. Gameplay lacks once again, but it is nice to see the most deserving winner claim the crown.

After what I would call a very successful first three seasons, I think this is the appearance of the first Survivor lull. The cast was all pretty uninteresting and the most interesting character (Boston Rob) was kicked much earlier than I would have liked him to go. I wouldn't say the season was bad, as it did see the first minority group switch the power and then ultimately win. Unfortunately it is easy to forget most of this season, including it's final two. The winner is one I would deem one of the least deserving winners in the history of the show (not that the runner up was any better).

It's a high quality season. Despite it really being old school Survivor, it is enjoyable to watch and the early roots of the show are more than worthy of being seen. The game has a small evolution from the first season, but doesn't stray too far from the success of the original formula. Between the early game drama and the impressive challenge streak of Colby, the only lackluster part of the season was Colby seemingly tossing the season to Tina resulting in an extremely unsatisfying finish.
