@crazyleyther can the sad sack please let people enjoy their stuff? If they aren't spoiling, no harm done ;)
Imagine being a writer for a moment, one people love and praise, but being trapped in a box that the people who love your work create. Imagine in the beginning you thriving in that box, people loving you more and more, but eventually you've explored everything in the box. Now suddenly people drag you down, "why is he telling stories outside the box?" This is why season 6 took 4 years, because none of these episodes were bad, but because 3 of the 5 weren't inside the box all this hate gets written. Time to move on people, something is indeed better than nothing, and the more you complain about the theme, the closer you get to black mirror straight out ending and red mirror taking it's place, because all good writers eventually learn how to silence the haters and write with their heart, not with a gun to their head.

@paulvincent83 Sure, it's possible to look at it this way. But the show is still called Black Mirror, and people expect a certain type of story when it comes to Black Mirror. If Charlie Brooker really told every story possible with the Black Mirror theme, it is time to end it, and start a different show.
If this is the case, Black Mirror should end and go down in history for what it was (and what it was good at), not become something else under the same name.
Yes, I (and probably every fan) will give a real chance to another Charlie Brooker anthology series. I really like horror stories so if it's that, I will be happy about it. Just please call it something else - because a lot of this just wasn't what you expect when you hear the mirror cracking in the intro. I'm sure we all would be here for Red Mirror.
As for the season:
Joan is Awful - Not bad, it sure fits in the Black Mirror "theme" - maybe a bit too meta for me, a bit cringe. Kinda reminded me of Matrix Ressurrections, thankfully not as bad as that. I think it was a good idea, with a not so good execution.
Loch Henry - Probably my favorite of the season and maybe (barely) fitting the Black Mirror theme as well.
Beyond the Sea - My second favorite of the season, fitting the Black Mirror theme. Maybe a bit too long and a bit slow, but a good Black Mirror episode overall.
Hazey Day - Doesn't fit the theme, a promising horror story, a bit rushed for me.
Demon 79 - Doesn't fit the theme, predictable, not really interesting, nothing I haven't seen a 100 times before.
what was the significance of that last scene?

@infek it's showing that even the most heinous dude in the episode (but absolutely not the series) is still some guy with a family who buys groceries... telling who is presumably his wife how to cook the seafood. This show doesn't really let you get away with thinking of a person as ontologically evil, even with its henchmen.

@crazyleyther it's already out, leaked online.
Maeve's plot is the best of the show yet.

It's a total senseless.
Okay... this was one of my favorite shows on television the first three seasons. But in the words of Margo... WTF HAPPENED?
This season premiere is absolutely atrocious in the worst possible way. The directing is terrible. The cinematography is terrible. The writing is disjointed and worse than terrible. I’m pretty sure the cameras and/or lighting has changed, possibly due to budgetary reasons? Certainly not the same look as previous seasons.
The only thing which hasn’t changed is the acting. Each character is still being well portrayed by each actor but it’s somewhat obvious they are working without direction and you can feel it from scene to scene. This is a massively disappointing outcome for me, because I originally rated this show a 9 but this first season four episode has dropped to about a 6. So unfortunate.

@toastedzen Wow an expert in cameras, lighting, directing AND acting?! What a time to be alive! Glad to have stumbled across such a talented cameralightingdirectingactor.
Aww that fruit shenanigan between Cole and Zanab. A textbook example of how different viewpoints, expectations, and levels of self-esteem can distort any conversation, each of them believing different things about what was being said. That is why communication is the key in a relationship...
Based on the discussions with the Lacheys and the other constestants, I wonder whether it's Zanab who has been making things up about Cole, or if Cole is lying. But after watching the fruit conversation, maybe neither of them is lying, but understood things differently, and without a retrospective talk, both Zanab and Cole believe they are in the right. They would definitely need some closure to their relationship and talk it through, maybe even with a therapist regardless of whether they want to pursue a romantic relationship yet again.

@sophiaso I would say they should never ever even consider a relationship again, but you're so spot on about everything you said here. Watching that last scene was honestly so sad, because he meant it in such a loving "save room" type of way and she took it in a "you're saying I'm fat" context and actually lead others to hate him for it. They were such a bad match, but you really wanted to see it succeed somehow.
Really love that moment between Walter and Jane's father but it was so sad to see that Walter let Jane die.

@ashuk He just didn't interfere. Heroin addiction is usually a death sentence unfortunately. Remember she brought it into the relationship. Maybe he won't do it anymore.

@ashuk He had no choice. She knew too much and was driving a wedge into Jessie and Walts relationship. she also threatened him multiple times.
coven has been the worst of the bunch for me. im waiting to finish freak show to see if that still stands.

@batsman that’s interesting, because I thought Coven was better than Murder House and Asylum.
Please kill Debbie off already, I can’t stand her moping.

@todkon yeah, and we're not going to, keep it to yourself otaku
There is exactly one chance to redeem this season in my mind, and it's if Sam gets banished in the last episode. The Faithfuls absolutely do not deserve to win, but god do I not want that smug, smarmy jerk Sam to win either so I suppose I am rooting for Blake and Camile to screw him right at the end and take the money for themselves.

Sam is making this series, he's like a cartoon mastermind villain :joy:

What a ride! Hail the Black Queen!
Honour, allegiances, and common sense still become clear in the rising tide of war. The intentional overcome by the accidental rage which more than often starts most wars.
Excellent writing, direction, performances. Every aspect of this show drips high fantasy for adults and for those that don't need everything to be spelt out to them as an audience.
Now this sudden recall of the realisation of the long anticipation between the early seasons of GoT is overshadowing the brilliance of this finale. No matter, I'll just rewatch it!
Thanks cast and crew for this splendid Season 1. And restoring the hope there can still be in Quality entertainment coming to an expecting audience and that all is not lost. 10

For anyone who watched the show before it aired on the BBC the three episodes were merged into two when they showed it hence why there are three episodes.

Yes it is but there is two versions. One with 3 episodes of 53 min, one with 2 episodes of 1h24 min.
Nice try, but I still hate Donna.
And giving us all that Rose time just reminds us how much Donna is lacking.loading replies
@phug FINALLY SOMEBODY SPEAKING SENSE & TRUTH, NOT JUST A BLIND DONNA FOLLOWER.
