One of the best sci-fi shows around today. The combination of plot, acting, and sticking to fairly realistic physics sets this show apart from essentially anything else on air.
Season 5 back with a bang today. A bigger budget is clear, amazing cinematography. What a series. Amazon finally the story justice. It is perfect.
This show seriously gets better with each and every season. With most sci fi shows, the plot and theme tend to become redundant or lost along the way, but not with Expanse. It stays true to its core and only continues to improve upon the story contextually and visually. It's highly underrated and deserves so much more recognition.
This show is what diversity should always look like.
A byproduct of telling a compelling story - not an agenda which has to be upheld.
Make more shows like this, shows one can be proud of not (just) because it has a diverse cast but because they are actually good.
Casting "diverse" characters isn't an acomplishment - making actually good/great TV is!
I love next to all characters on this show and the ones I don't, I at least love to hate. (Inaros to name one...).
LISSSSTEN!!!! The Expanse has matured quite nicely, and I'm definitely looking forward to the promised goodies. OH MAN, it's been a hell of a ride!
Holden's face when he saw Clarissa was absolutely priceless.
For me this season was much better than the previous one, and it seems S6 is going to be one the best seasons of television.
Damn that was great stuff. Naomi's struggle was so brutal. The only thing she could do in the end was break up the SOS. Playing it over the credits like that made it quite chilling too.
Drummer's breakdown was so raw and powerful. As soon as Naomi was mentioned her partner knew Drummer would lose it. Really looking forward to her finding out she's alive and blasting for her!
Might be my second favorite episode of the season, right after the explosion episode a few back. I loved the single location Naomi episode. The show really brought out her struggle after being out in space and now fighting for the survival of herself and her friends. I must get bit cocky, in that I also thought of her solution. Interrupt the broadcast, to notify others something is up. admittedly i didn't think of interrupting the message as a whole to make a new message .. rather, I thought about putting intervals between broadcasts that would translate to a SOS. .. hers is better.
I don't really know what to say about this movie... the setting was pretty cool and for the first 20-30 minutes I sort of enjoyed the build but after that it started feeling like just a bunch of ever so slightly connected events.
Did anyone else feel weirded out about the religious theme present in a few of the dialogs?
I feel like I don't want to be too harsh on this film but I have to be sadly....
Boring. Slow. Uninvested. Unoriginal.
A very slow and predictable plot. Uninspiring turn from Tommy Lee Jones, who phones in his performance with all the class of a 1980s Motorola cell phone! I couldn't have cared less about whether this father/son relationship had any development. Why? Because Brad Pitt's character is also boring. He's a machine - we get that spelled out to us several times.
Now... Brad Pitt acts well. The visuals are good - but in a world of Interstellar and Gravity, they're underwhelming.
I liked the view of Moon travel. That's the only positive.
For a 2 hour film though, it felt like 3. That's a bad sign for any film. I'll be avoiding this one when I see it advertised on TV.
I'm settling on 5/10 because of Brad Pitt's performance and some of the visuals (particularly the Moon). But I could have gone as low as 3/10 or 4/10 based on my mood leaving the cinema!
A big pile of nothing. Waste of time.
Very misleading trailer and title. What comes at night? NOTHING!. Incredibly slow pace and I was glad it was over (as was everyone in the theatre).
Just finished watching the pilot and I have to say, WOW!! This show is so much better than other sci-fi/space related shows that came out earlier this year. The first show has gripped me and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the reason. Do NOT pass this up. Must watch even if you aren't a fan of space related shows!!
omg what a cool scishow finally something complex and bold. they say it's the show that's standing up to BsG, but I say it's time we had a space opera that's worthy.
also, I'm amazed how many details they can cram up inside a pilot without getting it too overloaded.
a big plus for me are the space cam sequences and the sfx are eye candy.
a minus is the fact that even today's tv shows can't avoid this trap: there's no soundwaves in space, the vacuum has no air to propell the sound. so why the frak do we always hear big booms and afterburners ?
all in all, this is one to keep your eyes on.
