Laapataa Ladies

I can't help but share the joy of watching this brilliant satire #LaaPataaLadies, which presents a loud and clear statement on patriarchy and its many manifestations in the lives of 'invisible' women in rural India.

It delves into the lives of marginalized women, exploring resilience, friendship, and empowerment as they navigate societal expectations and stereotypes, shedding light on their struggles and triumphs while emphasizing the strength found in unity and solidarity among women.

Monkey Man

The movie came out right before a significant election in a country known for its diverse culture and vibrant democracy. Dev Patel shows everything that's been happening in the country for over 30 years-religious terrorism, ethnic cleansing, mob culture, and hate politics are all shown without holding back.

Nowadays, due to Al, there are lots of song edits that make you feel sympathetic towards people you should be criticizing. This movie reminds us to be firm and stand up to technology that tries to control us instead of being fair.

American Fiction

Potential is what people see when what's in front of them isn't good enough.

"It is an absolute blast. Not only is it a cleverly written dark satire, but it also delves into emotional themes of self-discovery and acceptance that complement the satire in a satisfying manner.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the scene where they are picking the winner and what one group of voters says to the other... It was the perfect way to get the point of the whole movie.

Past Lives

At its core, Past Lives is an exploration of the profound notion of pondering our most significant "what ifs" in life.

Unlike almost any other film I've seen, this movie beautifully captures the yearning and longing that arise when we contemplate the paths we didn't take. It lays bare the raw vulnerability that emerges as we confront the choices we made and the roads left unexplored. Yet, it also highlights the inherent beauty in such contemplation, revealing how we can find solace, inspiration, and personal growth by revisiting the untrodden paths. It delicately portrays the painful yet cathartic nature of this process, compelling even ourselves to confront our deepest desires, regrets, and unfulfilled moments.

I really can’t recommend this film enough. It’s simple, yet extraordinary, in its presentation, guided excellently by great cinematography, remarkable performances, and a gorgeous soundtrack.

Por Thozhil

The Art of War

Por Thozhil emerges as a Tamil cinematic marvel that seizes your attention right from its initial frame, maintaining its grip until an unforgettable climax. With its masterful narrative, captivating screenplay, and impactful acting, this production rightfully garners the praise it has earned. What truly sets Por Tholil apart is its ability to communicate a profound social message while maintaining a compelling narrative. The movie bravely sheds light on the harsh realities faced by the marginalized sections of society and the unscrupulous practices that exploit their vulnerability. It challenges the audience to reflect on the grim realities that often go unnoticed or overlooked.

Por Tholil is a thought-provoking film that touches upon issues that need urgent attention. It challenges societal norms and ignites a desire for change. It not only entertains but also educates and inspires. This masterpiece is a shining example of Indian cinema's prowess in storytelling.

The Fall Guy

Fall Guy was great, was fun and ridiculous yet entertaining love letter to stunt actors and the stunt community who deserve more time in the sun, told through a charismatic and action-filled performance by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. Quality filmmaking - strongly recommend!

Jody showering Colt with praise and Colt is just straight up malfunctioning :joy:, I loved their chemistry.

Robot Dreams

After watching Robot Dreams, I feel really sick. The movie hit me hard, especially at the end, where it overwhelmed me and tore my heart apart.

This animated film is unlike any other. It's beautiful, celebratory, sad, and touching, all without needing words. It's straightforward yet packs a powerful punch, exploring life, feelings, and connections in a profound way.

I loved Robot Dreams. It's a beautifully delicate look into friendship, love, and loneliness. It speaks volumes without saying a word. I saw pieces of myself in both of these characters, which hurt me. urge everyone to watch this.

You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story.

Some people find this movie boring and unnecessarily confusing, but I personally think that this movie is one of the most fascinating and creative movies I have seen. If you enjoyed Christopher Nolan's Inception, I bet you will love Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind. This movie made me GASP and literally go WHAT??

The plot twist is insane and I was mind-blown by the end of the movie. If you are thinking about watching this movie, don't hesitate and play it now, you will not regret. A perfect mind-twisting blending between romance and sci-fi.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello – Side A

Somewhere Beyond the Seven Seas

"Sapta Sagaradaache Ello - Side A" is a truly well-made film. The characters grow on you, and it's cringe-free with subtle expressions. The music and acting are on point.

I really love this kind of slow, emotional, poetic movie, but the second part tested my patience. However, it's worth it; it's slow but immersive. The realism pleasantly caught me off guard. There are no song and dance sequences, no flashbacks of how they met or how he wooed her—just their present dilemma matters.

The camerawork at the climax is top-notch; every shot feels like a painting. The last 10 minutes' glimpse of Side B left me with shivers.

Gran Turismo

"Gran Turismo" executed a familiar story exceptionally well. While this may seem like a backhanded compliment, I genuinely mean it as praise. Injecting originality and tension into a well-worn plot is challenging, but this movie successfully achieves it. It's a classic popcorn blockbuster with few flaws. David Harbour stands out, making it a recommendation for anyone who was hesitant before.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

The 9-year wait ends now.

Words cannot truly describe the grind. George Miller crafts a remarkable film that feels like it was touched by the gates of Valhalla. It tells the story of a mother’s hope and a daughter’s rage.

At times bleak, it serves as a strong lead-up to Fury Road. I especially loved how it retains the essence of Mad Max while having its own unique rhythm and soul.

Challengers

Challengers was an exceptional piece of cinema. The storytelling, score, editing, brilliant performances, and the emotionally charged screenplay with its dramatic twists were all remarkable. My favorite part was Josh O'Connor's performance—he was outstanding.

This last shot is probably the best thing Luca Guadagnino has ever done, among other shots in the movie, and the score with those acid basslines hits hard.

A terrific flick, no doubt

One hell of a celebration kind of movie with an extraordinary screenplay for a simple script. It's definitely not for an OTT watch. Watch with the community, just laugh and enjoy. #FaFa just nailed it as usual.

Also, I have a thought that #FaFa as Leo would've been bonkers.

Aattam

Aattam is undoubtedly important and shouldn't be over looked. Men who abuse, rape, or misbehave are not the only ones at fault, but also those who remain silent or show solidarity with them. Every man should fear this. It is likely to trigger many people & should be that way. A remarkable contribution from Malayalam cinema. Solid politics.

A unique style of narration. It's not easy to create a gripping screenplay for filming because half of the movie involves conversations between team members.

To me "This is Cinema".

Sunshine

The movie completely blew me away with everything it has: the plot, cast, soundtrack, visuals, and more. It's from 2007 and severely underrated.

I couldn't believe I hadn't even heard of it or seen a preview. It's still one of the most awe-inspiring and beautiful sci-fi films ever, with a heartwrenching soundtrack.

At the end of time, a moment will come when just one man remains. Then, the moment will pass. The man will be gone, and there will be nothing to show that we were here but stardust.

2001: A Space Odyssey

"2001: A Space Odyssey" is a sci-fi epic that takes viewers on a mind-bending journey through time and space. It explores humanity's evolution, from our ape-like ancestors to the possibility of transcending our physical limitations. The film is divided into distinct chapters, each marked by the appearance of a mysterious black monolith that acts as a catalyst for change.

The first chapter depicts the dawn of humanity, showing how the monolith empowers early hominids to use tools and weapons. Millions of years later, in the year 2001, another monolith is discovered on the moon, leading to a mission to Jupiter to investigate its origins. Onboard the spacecraft Discovery, a sentient computer named HAL 9000 takes control, posing a threat to the astronauts. The film's climax is a psychedelic and enigmatic sequence that leaves viewers to interpret its meaning.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" is more than just a sci-fi film; it's a philosophical exploration of humanity's place in the universe, the nature of intelligence, and the potential for our future evolution.

Jigarthanda DoubleX

I watched this yesterday, and it has some of the best cinematography in recent times. It truly makes you fall in love with every aspect of what cinema represents. The '90s color grading is spot on, and Kartik, the director, drawing inspiration from Quentin Tarantino's works and incorporating some of his elements as a fanboy, is very well executed.

The film delves into the inhumane practices of colonialism, employing cinema and violence within a fully thought-out narrative and structured character arcs. Powerful cinema.

The Creator

It's been a while since I watched a good sci-fi in theaters that screamed to me that it's worth paying. I am not saying this will blow your mind away, but this will make you feel why you, me and everyone else love movies and why we catch on that seat in the cinema hall every now and then hoping to feel something New from cinema.

It's been beautifully crafted that takes us right into the dystopian world. This movie has released at time where AI is growing and questions are asked about the safety of humans and this one exactly addresses that.

It's packed with some pretty great music by Hans Zimmer, and amazin VFX which transports you right into the characters life and their flaws. All said go watch this movie if you've a good time.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

First and foremost, I’d be remiss to not highlight the stunning animation style that the film incorporates. On a personal level, I’m very enthusiastic about the recent trend embracing the "spider-verse" animation technique, particularly in action-oriented animated films. In my opinion, this comic-book-inspired visual aesthetic injects a remarkable degree of versatility and intensity into the film's action sequences, elevating them to levels of excitement that otherwise would’ve remained unattained. The animation imparts a sense of swiftness, raw energy, and exhilaration, and this movie leverages it to its fullest potential.

Surprisingly, I think this might be the first time where I've witnessed these teenage mutant ninja turtles truly embody the essence of adolescence and act like real teenagers. This portrayal injected a distinctive and unique dimension into their characters and banter, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Bravery triumphs

Outstanding storytelling of a common man with all odds against him, and raising through challenges to achieve triumph.
This is a unique and one of a kind story that builds slowly and immerses you in the world where the powerless becomes powerful with the inner voice awakening him and to the fullest. The protagonist, rises up against the oppressors and becomes a beacon of hope for the villagers. As he fights for their rights, he faces numerous challenges and confrontations, testing his own determination and endurance parallelly. The writer blends this socially messaged story with a simple fantasy which makes this unique.Overall a must watch.

You are not welcome here.

Simply love how it was a completely unique and different take on the alien invasion genre. It had enjoyable characters, solid action, and fascinating tidbits.

So happy to have an alien movie NOT BASED IN AMERICA. This was a great twist and amazing concept of Refugee status. The animation is flawless, way ahead of the times. This felt rough and real. Highly recommend you stop reading and just watch it.

And yeah can't wait for District 10.

This is unironically the best thing marvel has ever done, AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT!

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an absolute triumph that takes everything we loved about the original film and cranks it up to a whole new level. This stunning sequel is a true testament to the power of animation, storytelling, and the enduring legacy of everyone's favorite web-slinger.

This isn’t just any animation this is THE animation.
Truly one of the best films I’ve ever seen. A true masterpiece, a sensory overload in the best possible way.

The city shines brightest at night.

A dark satirical social commentary on the world of media.

Nightcrawler follows local hustler Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) as he enters the world of crime journalism. Lou's journey and his cold, unfeeling character are both enjoyable and frightening. Congrats to Jake Gyllenhaal to playing this unfeeling sociopath perfectly.

The direction of this film feels a bit scattered at first but the plot wraps around to an interesting path. The ending leaves the audience questioning the constant bloodlust that drives viewership & ratings. Surely mass media can't be THAT bad, right?

And Lou Bloom is far from our hero. His manipulative, arrogance, and sociopathic mind will make any audience feeling uncomfortable. He's not someone you want to turn your back on.

4/5. If it bleeds, it leads.

Neo-Tokyo is about to E.X.P.L.O.D.E.

This is the best animated ever made. Katsuhiro Otomo is a true visionary. this movie is a wild futuristic ride from start to finish. The animation is the best I've ever seen. The voice acting is superb and the story is spectacular. It's the perfect anime film. You can tell from the start how much time and effort the animators put into each scene. Plus Kaneda's bike is one tricked out ride.

It was so captivating, fast-paced and jam-packed with action that I never realized how quickly 2 hours flew by. It's a mind-blowing cyberpunk action film that has a number of great things which include the simple but fresh story that is absolutely driven by action sequences and the gorgeous animation that encompasses every single bit of it. It's also a gory experience, so I can't recommend it for kids. For adults, it's a full-blown explosive ride!

Worlds collide.

Ezra Miller gave a stellar performance!! It was amazing to see Keaton as Batman again! The storyline took from multiple comics enough to feel familiar, but made something completley their own. Equal parts funny, clever, and touching. I laughed, I cried, I felt child-like joy!

The graphics in flash-time were interesting, as they showed relativity's effect on light at high speeds. The temporal realm was beyond awesome! 4D spacetime is not an easy thing to depict for our 3D brains, but they made it both fun and artistic. Just wait until you see what happens! I highly recommend viewing it on IMAX.
