What a finale! Beautiful story telling, sad at times but loved the transitions as the tale seesaws between the past and the present which also lets some humor to come in. The use of chair at the end was very creative too, metaphorically.
What a sick and twisted ending it was, didn't see that coming!
Didn't like the first half much. It's mostly satire and I just chuckled at best. The lost and found twist at the end is good, though, and so was the reason why Dadu is so rude and grumpy all the time!
The finale could have been better. The plot reveal was great but what ends up happening to all the main characters could've been more interesting. Like a giant ferris wheel you enjoy the ride but, in the end, you get off at the same place where you hopped in!
Great ending with that traveler spell foretelling an awesome finale!
Loved this one a lot! Two jump scares and a "mind of a murderer" sequence that was quite eerie. Not to mention, both the Cranes are looking dapper as hell! :couple_with_heart_woman_man:
Quite liked the parallelism with the Horseman of Death in focus. One half finding a way to kill while the other half contemplates to save... beautiful story telling. And, that final scene was shot so, so well... did not see that comeback coming!
The Horseman of Death could've killed the two witnesses, but he couldn't use his head! :joy:
No, but, seriously, why would he leave the chance?! Doesn't make much sense!
Oh, did they really have to kill Caroline?! I was looking forward to seeing her at the battle of Saratoga :no_mouth:
Off to a great start! That whole dream state sequence to trick them into revealing the key was brilliant.
An awesome finale with an ending so surprisingly unexpected, it begs you to watch the next season and, I'm sure, you'll oblige!
Things finally get under Ichabod's skin. Not much action but a great reveal!
"Destiny isn't a matter of chance but of choice, and what you choose to accept will eventually become yours." ~ Katrina Van Tassel
"What time doesn't change, death will!"
"The things that one most tries to hide are often the things most easily seen."
Wow, Ichabod drops some real truth bombs on Abbie there!
As the backstory reveals itself slowly, the show is already mysterious. But, it has humorous (ten-percent levy on baked goods), somewhat scary (Brooks reanimation, Furth and Hemmington encounters, Jennifer's cell) and dramatic (Abbie-Corbin flashback) elements too. I hope to see the character development continue and some more spine-chilling moments would be nice too!
Try watching Conspiracy of Silence ‒ the banned Discovery channel documentary ‒ right before this one. It goes into coercion, witness intimidation, FBI and media's role in protecting the elite, the police inaction makes so much sense after that. It's truly appalling!
Surreal! Very surreal. The colors, the atmosphere, the transitions – it's a piece of art!
It doesn't make much sense until the very end but "there's too much beauty to quit."
It feels like a musical with its frequent use of slow motion and its title track which, by the way, has been sung so beautifully by Daler Mehndi. A predictable story line with average acting but it still remains watchable for its great camera work (some of the visuals are stunning) and good music.
A great story with an underwhelming finale!
The first 5-6 episodes are the strongest. We have a different set of actors and they’ve all done a splendid job. So much so, you have a hard time accepting the new cast as they go past their adolescence.
The love the young Yeon-woo pours into her dying letter is so much more believable than the “inert” chemistry we get to see later on. It’s hard to connect with those “sounds-silly-so-perhaps-it-is” responses from the grown up but immature Yeon-woo. In fact, you feel for the Queen’s unrequited love vying for our Crown-Prince-turned-King more until she’s driven mad with jealousy.
Same goes with Yeon-woo’s brother; a charming, prominent character reduced to an accessory. The young cast have done such a great job, it actually ruins the show. Ah, the irony! The Prince’s attendant, on the other hand, leaves a mark on the whole show. The subtle humor he brings is so peachy.
But, towards the end you realize this needed to be a 16 episode series. It loses steam with some pointless conversations and the climax is disappointing. When Ari-a said those words – something about the moonlight while she was strapped to a chair – it sounds promising that you’ll witness a befitting revenge but it doesn’t even come close.
Instead you witness so many characters dying for no good reason. So, the Head Shaman doesn’t die while practicing Witchcraft, doesn’t die while blocking black magic, but drops dead offering a peace prayer. Come on! And, don’t even get me started on Prince Yang-myung-u!
So, I’ve berated the show a lot but I wouldn’t say it’s unwatchable. The underlying story is really good and, so, I do recommend a watch. 7.5/8 Honestly :)
I finished watching it today. Couldn't start a new one... I'm still grieving. The story seems etched in me... still tugging at my heart. I know it's fiction but the sense of loss I feel is real. Maybe it's the ending... I saw the glass half empty, although that red box makes me feel it's half full as well.
The ending is so dream-like I wonder if it happened.
46%? Only Trakt.tv teens watched it or something?! This movie is a solid 7/8 with a story choosing realism over being just another dreamy tale. It may upset a few if you have to have some sort of a closure but that's not how life always pans out. Deal with it!
Quite underrated! I loved the idea of "Pluto" doing the narratives and liked all the comments on the hypocritical human behaviour and the patriarchal Indian "culture". It made its point well and wasn't preachy at all! I just think the climax was rushed and done in the typical "bollywood bhelpuri" style that I love to hate so much. I'll give it a 7 but giving an 8 just to bring the rating in the 7s at least.
Come on, 68% is too harsh for such an entertaining movie. Yes, it gets a bit over dramatic with our "Manu bhaiya" ready to pitch-in anytime anything needs to be done at his beloved "Tanu's" wedding but it remains interesting throughout.
An above average script, good dialogues especially "Pappi's" funny ones and great acting by both main as well as the supporting cast made sure I enjoyed the movie once again after having watched it before in the theaters when it released.
I'll give it an 8 easily but giving it a 10 to bump up the rating!
Though the post-credits twist was nice, this was a filler episode at best, not a finale!
This one's hard to watch guys. It's really tough to see Cathy sapped out of all her energy and just struggle to move and go about her days. Her buoyant spirits that I loved so much in the past seasons is finally broken by the rigors of chemotherapy and a (now) distant hubby.
The grim reality of these sessions becomes evident by the end; they pretty much kill you before you're dead. You're left so frail and weak all the time; you just don't feel like yourself anymore which brings you to finally question, "is this really worth it?"
The best of Black Mirror (S1+S2)
If you liked BRB, do try to catch the movie Her which explores kinda the same plot but from a different angle. Here the main character (a woman) was already in love and hence the AI was competing in a way. In the movie, the main character (a guy) meets the new AI and gets reeled into a relationship (if we can call that) with her.
There's a world of difference between the season one and two. I was getting really frustrated with the way all the characters were saying and doing dumb things in season one but kept watching 'coz the series was shot really well. The locations, the ambience.. like that gothic rockstar's place.. were all great.
Season two has kicked things up by quite a few notches. I had no complaints about VFX in S1, yet it feels so refined in S2. The camera angles, the vampire encounters like the one with lights out in the storage shed.. it just feels like watching a different show altogether. Except for the kid Zach (which I'm 100% certain will get on your nerves), everyone has started to talk more sense. The main plot - the plan about how to get rid of the vampires - as well as the little things - like how that woman in-charge of Staten island has no problems convincing the public that the infected must be exterminated but has a hard time putting her own relative to sleep - they all make sense. Even the characters don't fail to surprise you. That whole sequence with Dr. Goodweather taking a train to Washington D.C. was great.
It's hard to believe how much a show can improve with the same cast just because some thought has gone into its writing too. So, if you couldn't bear to complete season one, persevere.. binge watch if you have to 'coz you're in for a surprise when you start the second one.
Stop crying your eyes out.
