VIP7The main characters make such stupid mistakes at every turn, do they learn nothing? I’m liking the little brother’s story the most because I feel the characters and story are actually progressing.

@magenof If main characters of every story ever made smart, well-informed decisions, there'd be zero conflict/drama/intrigue to make the overall story interesting.
Imagine how boring Jurassic Park would've been if John Hammond originally said to Ian Malcolm, "yeah, that's a great point, Ian. Our planned theme park with living cloned dinosaurs is a terrible idea, because trying to control nature is pure hubris and arrogance. Thanks, you just saved me a bunch of money, and my life!"
I've read the entire comic and this episode had me in tears at many points. This is the best show I've ever seen in my life.

@msochist u really need to watch more shows
Episodes like this show how selfish and void of empathy people in Hollywood are. I've lost track of the amount of times someone in a Hollywood show say "you couldn't possibly know how I feel". Do writers not understand empathy at all? Or is it such a trope that they don't even think? Also, they think the right thing for Mark's girlfriend to ask for is that he spends time with her and not saving lives? If I had a story hero partner, I'd be proud and grateful for ANY time spent with them, not give them a hard time about it.

You speak of empathy but don't even empathize with Amber. Sorry for the long thread in advance, had a long thought from this comment.
Amber says repeatedly in the show that she feels guilty for her feelings because she knows he is saving the world. But you can't just expect her to be happy when the love of her life is gone for months at a time with her not even knowing if he'd even come back. She understands the sacrifice but that doesn't make her feelings not justified. Why would she be joyful when she can't even spend a day with Mark without someone trying to kill him? Then the final straw was someone trying to kill her to get to Mark. She was nearly killed in a split-second. And her reaction wasn't even just because of that, it's because they used her to break Mark. She doesn't want that for Mark or for herself. That was probably the most realistic thing about the episode, that feeling of mixed guilt, pain, and loneliness even when she's proud and in awe of Mark's heroism and sacrifice.

VIP6Chilling to hear Metamorphosis One after the Person of Interest finale.
When I first watched BSG it would have been just a nice piano piece but music in TV has come to mean so much more to me over the years. Great companion to the story in both cases.

@reiko_lj was Five, but they really are so close to each other https://youtu.be/HsD7zQfQ_w4?si=-Z7gdF4SB3deFXN1
Tbh this didn't tread any ground that hasn't been covered before. It just sprinkled some religion in there too and was about 4 episodes too long. Still think the acting and dialogue was poor too.
When you get into simulation theory I think Root said it best:
"Schrödinger said, at its base level, the universe isn't made up of physical matter, just shapes. A shape, you know, nothing firm. What it means is that the real world is essentially a simulation anyway. I like that idea-that even if we're not real that we represent a dynamic. A tiny finger tracing a line in the infinite-a shape. And, then we're gone. Listen, all l'm saying, is that if we're just information, just noise in the system, then we might as well be a symphony."loading replies
@reiko_lj Man, you totally left me guessing with that quote. I kept asking myself, "Root? Root who? The only 'Root' I know is that nutbag Wayne Allyn Root who was on the Libertarian presidential ticket back in the day." Except I knew it couldn't be him that you were quoting; it was way too thoughtful and reflective.

Cooper/The Ghoul is my favourite part of the story. I liked Lucy-Goosey early on but she didn't do much for me in this episode although I do enjoy her forward way of asking for sex and typical Maximus being the idiot he is, turned her down. It was a shame to end the episode on such a daft scene. It really doesn't take much creativity to be a mainstream scriptwriter, oops she made a sound and got caught then somehow the petite little woman who is from a peaceful vault managed to throw a bunch of people around before being captured The show is decent but I'm still waiting for a wow episode and not having played the main Fallout games very much, I am not easily impressed by nods to the game so they are going to have to actual write something good. Hopefully they got better writers for future episodes or the current ones saved their inspiration for later.

Tell us he wasn't paying attention without telling us you weren't paying attention. in the very first episode it showed she was trained in combat. Smh.
I've only recently read the first two books of this series after a good friend recommended them to me. After being drawn so easily into that world its a given that I would want to see the TV adaptation.
It's almost page to screen at times and it's wonderful to see these characters come to life. It's definitely dated being a 90s show set in the 70s but it finds its footing soon enough. Connie was irritatingly overacting and the couple Mrs Madrigal had over for dinner were awfully amateur. Other than that the core cast are solid. Looking forward to how the season develops

@reiko_lj I just rewatched the first episode & came to log it and look at comments: You mentioned the couple Mrs Madrigal had over for dinner were awfully amateur - and I agree, but, like another ep had Father Guido Sarduchi, and, recognizing the song & something about the man did a deep dive, just in case you're interested:
Country Joe MacDonald (from his band's appearance at Woodstock) https://youtu.be/ft0vkKCadgk
Syd Straw (from a 2019 appearance in San Francisco) https://youtu.be/tLtUtqk-ro4
Nothing ties them together except they were and continue to be regular fixtures in San Francisco. Still, great musical cameos. Country Joe and the Fish played at Winterland in '73, when, "Tales of The City," was set to take place (I was eleven, but saw The Tubes there just before it closed). If you look up that concert he dedicates a song to Janis Joplin I recommend.
Not as much of an impact as my "discovering" Ferron on, "One Mississippi," S0105 https://youtu.be/PqjY6_ZYsKw but still worthy of excusing and understanding their selection for, "Tales," (and, revisiting this first ep... 9/10). I rewatched it as part of a deep dive into why Mona Ramsey and Mouse's characters had been re-cast in "More Tales."
I'm straight, but love this series, as I've brushed up against the culture and made friends with several gay men and Lesbian couples. I highly recommend the mini-series, "Angels In America," which I believe totally eclipses Tales of The City as great as it is. Angels in America can be viewed here (use Firefox with uBlock Origin to mitigate pop-ups and ads): https://fmoviesz.to/tv/angels-in-america-80p7v/1-1
Anyone get the feeling that this is what preceded the events in the Expanse?

ANOTHER Peggy Carter episode, with more to come. What If these shows focused on a different character? Infinite stories and we keep focusing on the same handful of people.
