The Whale

What an incredible heartfelt performance by Brendan Fraser, with a supporting cast that is also up to par. Darren Aronofsky was able to deliver each scene with the impact and honesty that a live play would have.

That Brendan was able to deliver those emotional scenes under tons of props is nothing short of an Oscar winning performance.

We stay with Charlie for no more than a week of his life but we get to know everything he carries with himself: his regrets, his dreams, his shame. That ending scene where we get the relevance of the Moby Dick story had me sobbing the entire time, and laid all the experiences that I will eventually have with my daughter right in front of my eyes.

Moonfall

I don't get all the hate with this movie. It's a disaster movie. Yes it is bad, but it was also fun. You don't watch it for the oscar worthy plot or performances, you watch it to enjoy stuff exploding and getting destroyed. Loved the scenes inside the moon and the quick hint of the previous civilization that built it. The subplots were as ridiculous as every other disaster movie.

John Bradley did a very good job of being a comic relief while not being too over the top.

Donald Sutherland though got done dirty with a weak scene just to justify putting his name on the credits.

What a terribly written trainwreck. Would rather be stuck on that island than sitting down enduring this torture.

Out of the Cradle

One of the best hominid evolution documentary. CGI was incredible, but I feel that we could have spent more time in the past, exploring extinct hominid lines and going deeper on the routines of the original hominid species. A little too much time was lost on experiences that could have been redacted in seconds, and that ended up slowing the pace of the documentary.
