What's with the bad votes it didn't even come out yet-
Edit: Fair enough.
It became a tradition to watch this every 5th of November. By far one of the greatest films ever made, must've seen it 8 or 9 times by now, always blows my mind. If I could rate it 11, I would.
This is like the 100th time I'm watching The Terminator. I just noticed this for the first time: Sarah hides in a club called Tech Noir so she can use the telephone. The phone is literally ON THE DANCE FLOOR! Hahahahaha. Gotta love the 80s.
Be prepared for every bodily fluid to be layed out on the screen!
Infinity Pool introduces some interesting sci-fi elements mixed in with some horrifying thematics and a rich exploiting everything subplot (we needed another one of those). Everything is there for an interesting watch until these ideas fade into the background to become a weird-ass porno trying too hard to be stylish and layered. The second half of the movie felt like it was going absolutely nowhere and it reduced it's main character to pretty much nothing, leaving the viewer with nobody to root for except Goth's performance. Mia Goth once again shows her acting chops (among other things), she's unhinged, wild and horny. Goth and Skarsgård made a captivating duo on-screen. Unfortunately even their amazing performances couldn't save this movie - or rather they were this movie. Beautiful trippy disturbing visuals, hypnotising camerawork, psychedelic score, brutal kills and stellar acting. The movie ended and I was still waiting for the plot to show up but it never did. It absolutely went for style over substance and ruined it's great potencial.
Me after 30 minutes: If Ari Aster's goal was to make me uncomfortable, he's certainly succeeding.
Me after 2.5 hours: I don't mind long movies, but this is exhausting.
Me after 3 hours: That penis monster was the worst thing I've ever seen.
Edit: After seeing that Ari Aster called this a "Jewish Lord of the Rings", I'm tempted to lower my rating. I don't think he understands Judaism or The Lord of the Rings. (Written as a Jew myself.)
Sure, Judaism is associated with neuroticism and guilt, and LOTR is an epic journey. But at the essence of each of them is hope -- something this movie completely lacks. Even when Beau finally confronts and kills his mother, there is no redemption -- he is once again destroyed by her.
"Everything I Own" by Bread is a great song, though. So at least there's that...
No one listened to the smart woman, everyone dies except the smart woman and her cat. 9 out of 10
This movie is not about a civil war in America. It's about war photojournalism, backdropped by a completely wasted concept.
I personally found this movie sooooo boring. The concept is interesting and all but I just don’t see how can anyone keep up with the way the film was made. It kept cutting into different timelines throughout the entire movie which really confused me and it made the experience even more boring. If you’re into watching guys just talk and talk and talk nonstop for 3 hours with some background music in the back, then this is the movie for you.
The movie is very lengthy. It covers a lot into 181 minutes and loses the ground many times. I watched the movie in theatre and saw people leaving before the movie ends. It is more like a documentary. I would recommend to see this movie in parts not in one go.
An ordinary 90s American drama, based on a rather weak short story by Stephen King. The kind of film, among many, that seemed to be made to be shown over and over on TV for families. The movie works, but it is not exceptional in any aspects.
I fell asleep in the first 1 hour, but things get interesting when they started to test the bomb.
