@robloach Vote brigading. It's pathetic. Unfortunately, a lot of people are susceptible to having their opinions influenced by rating averages, so a lot of trolls like to submit low scores for early votes to try to create a consensus that it's crap.
Confusing and boring
Don’t believe what you see in the trailer, it was very slow paced and all the “ghosts” in this movie were just all confusing. Nothing made sense and all the scary scenes were all over the place.
This movie could have had potential if it focused on the refugees doing good for the country they are staying in.
But combining this with horror just didn’t work out

@usagiwhitenight "This movie could have had potential if it focused on the refugees doing good for the country they are staying in." You've missed the point so completely it's honestly embarrassing.
Well, to be fair it was well acted, the music was great and I very much liked the comedy aspect in it. It was also nice to see people actually fighting back, for once, and NOT behaving like a dumb bunch of helpless chicken.
Other than that, the plot had many, many holes and the final twist actually ruined the whole story for me. It was also very inconsistent about which "laws" these shadows had to follow - sometimes they were doing the same things as the people on the upside, but other times not... however it fit the plot in that moment, it seems. 'Us' tries very hard to be deep and stuff, but it really is not.
However, while it is not as great as I had wished it to be, it also not the worst horror movie I have ever seen. So, for a horror movie night it's OK to watch but don't expect too much, I guess.

@schokominza "'Us' tries very hard to be deep and stuff, but it really is not."
exactly. that's the thing with all that type kinda shows and movies.
What in the actual f*ck.
I'm a reasonable man, I realize I've been crapping on D&D even more than usual this season but I really do have to give them props for doing exactly what they set out to do. They hoped to subvert our expectations and they did just wonderfully in that regards.
We expected all of that buildup over the years to actually amount to something that at the very least passes for a presentable series finale but instead, we got an incoherent, steaming pile of shit. Expectations subverted!
We expected all of that character development to actually result in a beautiful pay-off that respects the journey of self-discovery each and every one of our beloved characters went through to get to where they are now but instead, we got a painful, disrespectful cycle of character regression. Expectations subverted!
We expected the final season of this show to keep us at the edge of our seats with thrilling writing that didn't subvert our expectations for the sake of subverting our expectations via low-quality shock value-seeking writing, but to introduce plot twists that make sense within the overall narrative of the story but instead, we got CW-level predictable, cringe material. Expectations subverted!
I get it. I really do. GRRM let them down by not getting the books ready in time and so they had to improvise away from his influence, but this? This? For a long while, Game of Thrones lived up to the slogan of its parent network, it wasn't just TV, it was something different, something unique and now to have to see it come to this... it's nothing short of disappointing.
On the bright side though, at least this episode didn't suck completely. The acting, score and cinematography were all on point, so I guess it's nice that I didn't walk out of it having appreciated absolutely nothing about it.
So why do I even bother anymore? I honestly could not tell you, though it's probably a mixture of masochism and a faint sliver of hope that they won't flush our collective investment into this series down the drain by the end of it, just one more episode dammit.

"Maybe you should watch the series again ?"
I don't see how that would help given that my opinion of this radical change in her character is based off of my take on the character development she was exposed to all of those seasons.
So as to end this pointless cycle of repetition where someone just disagrees without providing any arguments to counter mine with, allow me to yet again state that you're entitled to your own opinion and take on this issue, just as I am entitled to mine.
The fact you disagree with mine does not render it null or make yours any valid, nor do condescending requests to re-watch the series satisfy that expectation.
That Warren style well-worn story, those kids actors very well stories of others meaningless for what they do. It is clear that you do not have to play with the Ouija but you know what you do and even if you know it too

@juliosoft What?? I have no idea what you meant by anything you said?!

Smartest creature ever. Super adaptable, evolutionary. This is by far the bad assiest being ever imagined. The science in the movie was up to my extremely lofty standards. For the first time, ever in a horror movie, this thing could theoretically actually exist makes the movie extremely interesting. The main reason I gave it a 9, is due to the fact, they should have sacrificed the first guy, immediately. I had one other issue, but that would tip spoilers. Other than that, this is a great, thrilling, mind bender of a horror sci-fi movie.
And for those who ridiculously state this was "like Alien". This movie had a super intelligent, highly evolved bacteria. This was never done before. Actual physics and biology was implemented. It wasn't just some creature out of the mind of a teenager. The crew were attempting to contain and survive. Never before have I saw a movie, that was about containing an entity while above the planet. This used an actual space station, that is real and does exist. This was not a fairy tale of a movie, as was Alien. No one was hunting this thing down with guns and such. This movie is about what can actually happen as we go frolicking around our solar system. This is something that we should actually be worried about. That is completely ground breaking in every way possible. The Europa Report was closer related to this film, but even that was not as real of a threat as this movie, since it was on a Saturn moon, using theoretical science and fictional equipment. Life used all actual equipment, actual science, and actual crew reactions, although, I would have sacrificed the first guy, immediately and launched the immature state of Calvin at the first sign of an issue. And one last thing, Calvin didn't even kill anyone, except the first guy, who was attempting to incinerate it. I bet in part two, we will find out he is actually peaceful.
This movie was nothing like Alien. Besides the fact that the setting was in space and there was a creature hunting them down (or was he?). The Alien was killing, Calvin was surviving.

@blakblu Well, I'm too lazy to go through everything, but a couple:
Right from the start physics is thrown out the window with the catching of the probe. You can't catch something like that in space. It's not like on Earth with gravity and friction and catching a baseball. There is this thing called inertia. That probe was moving way faster than the station and the Canada arm is not at all made for that kind of operation. At the very least it would have ripped the arm off and caused massive damage, likely causing hull damage to the station and knocking it out of it's orbit. And kiss the probe goodbye. Spacecraft are not made for that kind of impact. Try watching some videos of how rendezvous operations are conducted in space. Very, very slowly and precise. The slightest mishap could be catastrophic. Here is a video explaining how Soyuz lines up and docks with ISS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25hliOqpOB8
When SpaceX's Dragon capsule docks, they actually use the Canada arm to reach out and grab it to bring it in. Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_BRFa6s9fs Arm action starts at about 1hr 25min in. See how slow everything is moving? 1hr 33min is a good spot for how fast the arm actually moves.
Catching the probe like in the movie? Beyond impossible.
Also, research the EVA suits. They are incredibly bulky and do not provide for dexterity. She would not have been able to close that valve with her fingers. They pretty much have to use special tools for everything.
Then there is the organism itself. Carbon based and needs water but is able to survive and thrive prolonged periods in the vacuum of space, and is apparently immune to fire. Yeah, no.
this boring shit is the result of a show having no main concept and being run by greedy integrity lacking people.

@trakt29384728 i never saw walking dead as a metaphor, but i like your interpretation. personally i always thought the show was build on exploration of human nature set in extreme circumstances, and that it was much more literal than figurative. for me it's about how fear and basic survival instincts can lead to questionable choices and bad deeds (rick's group) as well as how the loss of order and control in society, the so called freedom of the world that went to shit and doesn't have a strong benevolent power to reign it, how those things not just cripple morality and principles but uncover them being malformed in the first place (the show's antagonists). it's all about varying between adapting to anarchy and adapting to the rules of the new world, but also realizing that in the end it all comes down to survival of the fittest.
that being said, that is not the concept i meant in my original comment. i didn't make it clear enough, so it's my bad. i meant that there's no central plot line that the seasons have been following all this time. there's no goal that the characters are trying to achieve. you can say it's survival. but it's not something that can be completed and done with. it's a work in progress, a long painful quest till the inevitable failure. so we will never get any victorious gratification from watching the show. there will be no satisfaction of getting closer to resolution, because there's no resolution at all. the show's not moving towards anything, it's running in circles, like a headless chicken, recycling the same good old philosophical themes about human nature that people are either aware of or aren't bright enough to understand and are watching just for the sake of gore and action. for me it's clearly become stagnant. the characters's development, which when done right can forgive the plot problems, at least in my opinion, has been pretty weak too. slow paced episodes rotating around secondary characters are clearly there to take screen time and stretch out the season. and i heard that the creator has literally said that they put some work into the characters when they prepare to kill them off, so you'd invest in them first. which both makes sense and sounds like lazy robotic writing, turning exploration of a character into means to an end instead of making it flow naturally. characters should be built and developed because people that are in charge of them are genuinely interested in doing that and have interesting stories to tell, not because they can't wait to smash their heads in and then piggyback on the shock value so clearly popular among walking dead's braindead audience.
but i respect your opinion. if that metaphorical look on the show is enough to keep you invested and satisfied, good for you man.
